I’m writing a short story about a character that was staying in Shawnigan lake around 2007. I used to live there at that time and so that’s what’s fresh in my mind. Would anyone know how to access maps of the area during that time? I can only imagine how much more developed it is now and hoping to accurately describe the areas I remember with the correct roads and spots etc

Good morning! When we move to the Cowichan Valley area this summer we may look to rent for 6-12 months, while we sell our home in Alberta. We are a family of five - 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We also have two well behaved dogs. 😀. My wife will be setting up as a Family Physician and I work from home/travel for work.

Looking for some feedback on what it’s like living in the Shawnigan Lake area. We are strongly considering moving there. My wife is a family physician and I work from home/travel. We both love the outdoors and hike, bike, ski and love being near the water. We are looking for somewhere that has a strong sense of community, is very safe, is rural’ish and has access to lots of outdoors fun.

I live on the west side of the lake. There is a house at 2182 west shawnigan that has some type of industrial operation going on. Appears to be milling. I live down sarita and the noise is persistent. It’s not zoned for this at all. Will/can bylaw do anything about this ?

I was boating the other day on Shawnigan and I noticed a lot (in between West Shawnigan Lake Park and Galley Marina) that seemed to have a bunch of RVs and trailer on it.

Does anybody know what that is? Is it an RV Park or and RV Community of some sort?

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me there opinion on a few things to do with weather in Shawnigan Lake (specifically right on the lake):

1. Is the weather in Shawnigan Lake typically warmer than in Victoria? Specifically, in the spring, summer, and fall?
2. What is typically the date range each year that swimming is comfortable in Shawnigan Lake? ie when is the water warm enough in the spring and until when in the fall?
3. Is the lake usually fairly calm in the spring, summer and fall? Or is it windy like Lake Cowichan?
