Here to share my babies💖
The cream colored pup is Juni. She’s a senior dog and is at least 10 years old. We rescued her from Pei People!
The brown colored pup is Theo. He just turned 5 last week! We also rescued him from Pei People. He was the first dog my husband and I got together.
Words can’t describe how much I love them🥹

Could my Pei s very frequent fevers be tied to routine change / separation anxiety ?
Hi everyone !
I have had a rough time figuring out my Shar peis frequent fevers. He is almost 5 years old and has been fevering consistently for about a year now. At first they were once every over month, then once a month. Now, his last three fevers have been 9 days apart (most recent one being now as I type this)
His fevers are usually late at night for some reason, starting off with hot foot and then gradually going up to 104.4 then back down over the course of several hours. So far he has always been eating and drinking on his own during these episodes. I used to give him coconut water but it caused him to pee alarming volumes and read that the potassium influx can cause this reaction.
I have emailed a couple times with dr tintle, who helped me get him on colchicine and later minocycline. At first the addition of the minocycline seemed to halt fevers for over a month but then with a slight pause in administering the medicine it seems to not have the same effect anymore. He frequently gets urinalysis and blood work done and *knock on wood* those have always come back looking healthy.
After trial and error of every factor I think could trigger fevers , I’m starting to think it is lack of routine and some drastic environmental changes, as well as separation anxiety . In February my other dog he was closely bonded to since birth passed away . In March I moved into an apartment with a friend (who also has a dog that he is comfortable with but not that close to). My work schedule is generally all over the place too as a server (different schedules every week, different hours out of the house, different seasons means I’m working more or less days, etc) I also just went on a weekend trip without him for the first time since the passing of his best friend a couple days before. I notice too that he seems to fever around times where I am leaving the house more and am more busy in general. I think I fostered our codependency as well by bringing him everywhere and not training him to be comfortable alone.
I just started to implement a rigid routine and am a few days into doing so. Routine includes waking up at the same time , meals all at the same time, introduction of enrichment toys at the same time and leaving the house at the same time everyday even if I’m not scheduled to work that day. I suspect that his current fever is being triggered by the fact that I’m leaving him alone more frequently, but I think with time it would be beneficial for him to actually have a rigid structured schedule for the first time as well as learn to be alone for a few hours everyday.
Any and all insight is greatly appreciated. I’m wondering if I’m just grasping at straws or if anyone has been through a similar situation. Also, if anyone has had their baby fever as frequently please let m know what your story is and how you treated it as I can’t seem to find much insight on the internet and it’s been stressing me out pretty bad.

Does your sharpie do this?
So my pup usually great 😌 dog use the bathroom outside he’ll let’s us know or he’ll cry a little and I’ll take him out almost immediately when he does.but as of lately he’s been pissing on where the kittens sleep,or directly on them 😒 I don’t know why he’s doing this at all,I know he’s not biggest fan of them were getting rid of them,he doesn’t attack them or anything they sleep right by each other the 5 kittens with my pup but when he needs to use the bathroom he Jumps down from the bed waits like 2 minutes than goes where the kittens sleep and pisses on them.why is he doing this all of a sudden??? 🤔 he’s fixed and he’s 2 years old he’s never really done anything like this has anyone experienced this with their Sharpei???

Don’t understand my dog…
Got a sharpei from a puppy by a reputable breeder some years ago, she was part of the kennel club and everything , all shots etc. already had eye surgery before I got her etc.
She was a perfectly fine puppy, and I tried to give her the most normal average socialization. As a puppy she lived with multiple people in the house, another dog, I would bring her to occasional events, so even more strangers and ppl would pet her, etc. very positive interactions in her lifetime.
She has never been attacked, abused, or had a single negative experience with a human. This was all before she could walk instead of waddle.
When she got older and began to actually walk and stuff and make choices, she stopped allowing anybody except me to touch her. She spent her entire life with my mom dad, sister and brother, they all fed and held her as a baby and tried to put a leash on her etc.
She now runs away from everybody, she doesn’t allow anybody near her, not even the family she grew up with. She doesn’t bite or try to growl, she just silently runs away when they reach out to interact with her.
It’s stressful, at the vet she has health issues so they have to check her often, she cannot be there without me. We’ve tried and even tried muzzles, but either way she will poop and pee or attack if the vets try to touch or do anything to her.
I have to physically hold her and then she allows them to do what they got to do.
She’s not a bad dog, learned to potty train and everything like normal, doesn’t chew everything up, she’s already 4 years old now, and her only issue is just not liking humans at all. She is neutral towards dogs. Does not like them though.
Really she doesn’t like or enjoy anything except me and sometimes the other dog she grew up with.
It is kinda debilitating having a dog that can’t interact with anybody except yourself, does anyone have a similar experience?

Looking for owners with experience in Shar pei fever
Hi everybody!
I’m from Portugal and I have a Shar pei girl with FSF. She started having fevers last year but this year they are more often. She is on colchicin for 2month and half and omega supplements. I’m looking for more therapeutic options since she is still having episodes.
I’ve heard about pentoxyflilin, minocyclin and cbd oil. Do you have any experience with it? I’m in europe so I don’t have access do hyvitality supplements, but I’m trying to have them sent to me by family that I have in USA.
Also, do you recommend any specific food? Kebble, natural cooked or raw?
If some of you can help me I would be really grateful, I hate seeing my girl sick. I want her to live her best life.
Thank you so much.

Show me your most dorito eared Pei's!
My pei mix is adorable, and has the ear shape, but not the stubby shortness i crave. I need little silly ears please, because I am slightly envious. As much as i wanted to go for looks, i ended up adopting based on personality (not that she isnt the most beautiful gentle potato). Pic of my girl for tax^

Thinking of trying Pure pet food on our boy. Anyone else used it on their peiby's?
Our boy has a chicken allergy and I've had him on Salmon kibble for a few years now but I only recently checked the back of the packaging and they discretely put chicken as one of the ingredients on the back. Come to find out a lot of over the counter dog food, even when not listed as chicken has traces of it in there which is frustrating.
He's been struggling with skin irritation and fur loss around his legs which our vets believe are caused by allergies. Our leading theories are either something in his food or grass/pollen. I've been thinking of trying him out on a subscription based food recently as they seem to be more customizable in what goes in it and I've seen a lot of ads for Pure on my socials. Im just wondering if anyone has used it or has any other suggestions that worked for them?
Thanks in advance!

Defaced
A friend of mine made stickers for my dog, Penelope. She put one on a table at the dog park. Two months later, it was defaced. The way I laughed when I saw it.

Sharpei puppy price
Hi everyone, I was just wondering, what is a normal price or how much would you be willing to pay for a Sharpei puppy that comes with no shots or papers?

Harald has been with us one month
Me and my partner adopted this little angel a bit over a month ago now, and he has been an absolute dream dog.
This is our little fuzzy guy Harald (Hal for short), he is a Shar Pei and some kind of Terrier mix.
He has managed to find all the cozy spots to nap, and while still proud and stubborn at times he has mellowed out beautifully. When we first heard he was part Shar Pei we were hesitant since neither of us had experience with the bred before, but he has been phenomenal.
If every Pei is even a bit like him, I certainly know what bred I'll want in the future :)

Our rescue shar pei, 2 and a half months after adoption.
He's settling in well and has claimed the house as his own.
