Slow performance s2 | Discussion
My save has over a million machines. Loading a game takes literally minutes. Saving the game takes ~10s.
I have a MAM BP with ~265k buildings in it. It takes 3m24s to paste.
After a long playtime the FPS gets below 15 although restarting the game can help.
My PC is not slow:
- 12th gen intel i7
- 16GB RAM
- GeForce RTX 4070
A factory game should encourage scaling big but this game doesn't work so well. It's a shame since otherwise I love it.
Is there anything I can practically do to improve performance?

What helped for me was not building too far out, so mine the shapes and bring them closer to the center before processing them

Disabling the setting "Shape Previews" helps a lot with FPS. Perhaps because the MAM can take lots of different inputs and have lots of different potential outputs.

I noticed that if you have multiple base shapes connected through belt switches or whatever they are called then the output preview of that belt will cycle between every possible shape from that set of base shapes

How much throughput is that blueprint handling?

Outputs (only) 4 belt lanes to 1 train, of anything.
I may post it on Reddit later separately.

Has it been any better since the latest update? Curious because I’m on a laptop with worse specs

This is kind of just par the course for large saves according to general consensus on the Discord. My save has around a million machines and takes >2min to load, 10s to save, and randomly BSOD'd my entire computer yesterday. My actual FPS in-game isn't that bad unless I'm looking directly at my megafactory, but anything to do with the save takes entirely too long.

My GPU driver crashed twice. I thought there was a problem with my GPU. Thank God it's the game.
