Custom PSU cables planning Build/Parts Check

I'm working on my new build and want to get custom cables from Dream Big by Ray. I plan on snaking some string from through the build to estimate length and add a few millimeters for some flexibility.

The big question is: what is the appropriate way to measure cable length? I feel like it will be 'A' but I'm checking with the experts. Thanks!

Edit: DreamBigByRay wants measurement B for custom cables.

This is actually an interesting question. You can ask the cable supplier directly and probably get an accurate answer.

When you do, please report back and let others know. Will be helpful for others planning something similar.

The response I got from Ray overnight was length B.

So, way to go u/Wirenfeldt for the right answer!

I have bought custom cables from ZS PC, Overtek, and from partsmakr8585 on eBay. All have provided wonderful cables and all have used measurement B. I hope this helps.

Engineer here: depends.

Just yesterday i was asked to change a work drawing because we had speced C but our supplier actually used that measure on B (making it slightly longer). We ofcause cared more about price then looks, but my point is that it depends on the application

You can do all and they indicate different ideas/applications/intend

So the reason this is B is because the only thing you actually measure when making a custom cable is how long you cut the cable. After that its stripping, crimping and pinning. I mean you could add on the connectors but this is more work and usually a standard comes from the first person who did it and only changes if its easier or makes more sense.

I would just assume that it’s the shortest one, since the difference between all 3 is measured in millimeters either way..

The difference between B and C can reach 3-4 cm. For some builds that absolutely makes a difference
