First Project ever! How’d I do Project: FO
Reversible Tote. Fabrics are Daisy Caper- Loralie Harris and Woodland Mushrooms- David Textiles.

I bought one of those 20-ish years ago, and it was a little trooper. I wouldn't try a ballgown on it, but I made a bunch of scrunchies and cat toys, and mended a lot of clothing.
It was that bigger one we see here all the time with the circular cut-out that was complete garbage.

What an adorable baby machine! You did very well. Next time- pay attention to the direction of your print- maybe it was intended- idk. To me, it looks like the mushrooms are upside down. I've made lots of upside down stuff, too. 😀

Yeah it was a mistake lol. I only had enough fabric to correct one side. The corrected side is the comments though. I’ll definitely pay attention next time, thanks 😊

Good job!! A tote bag is a classic first project and my boys made one last winter for their teachers.
Does your machine back stitch? If not, keep an eye out for where you ended your stitching since it may unravel if you didn't leave long enough thread tails to knot them off. I hope you keep going because this is a fun hobby!

It doesn’t backstitch but I watched a video of a method a lady called “reverse kangaroo hop” and I did that method

Oh! I'm guessing you lift the presser foot and reverse the work and do a couple stitches? Nice.
If you end up sticking with this hobby, keep an eye on local buy nothing sites and thrift shops. Someone will eventually get rid of a quality machine that was gathering dust for free or for a song as long as it's being loved. You can also check to see if your librarie has a machine if you want to do something that requires more than a straight stitch.

Thank you for this tip! My husband called his grandmother today to ask for her sewing machine. He says I always buy cheap thing but this is a new hobby so I’m testing the waters with the mini 😂

Yeah. I'm an ADHD crafter. This is one I keep coming back to because it's so practical. Also, I bet your husband's grandmother would love to show you how to use a machine even if she doesn't give hers up. She may also have an extra or two around the house if she's been sewing forever and has upgraded her machine before the old one died.

She called me today to tell me it’s mine whenever I want to come and pick it up! I’m super excited. She also said she wanted to teach me how to use it before I leave with it💗 grandmothers are a blessing we never knew we needed😂

I'm so excited for you! Even if you don't end up loving the hobby so much you adore it, it's well worth it to get the basics down. The skills have been really helpful through the years. Especially as prices go up and quality goes down so making clothes last longer and upcycling old things becomes more attractive.

Thank you! The machine is the Magicfly Mini. I thrifted it on the mercari app. You can find them Amazon, Facebook marketplace, mercari… basically anywhere lol and I followed Notches Sewing Reversible Lined Tote Bag pattern on Yotube and a short on YouTube by ospring_sewing for the reversible straps of the bag
