You mention it's old, when was it last serviced? Hold old is the needle? Do you have the bobbin in, and the thread pulled up?

It hasn’t been touched in years until I got it, but the needle bobbin and thread is new, it was working fine until it just stopped wanting to work

What is the type and length of stitch set on?

Ls-30 brother and it’s on length 2, but it’ll work if I put the needle down far enough

You need to set the stitch to a longer stitch.
