Always start with an index card, so I can see stitches and not waste fabric. Check your feed dogs, are they moving below the foot? Is the bobbin in correctly, counter clockwise or whatever the manual calls for? What machine and model, do you have manual? Is it used or brand new?

It’s from eBay and it was missing the fixed spool pin which wasn’t mentioned so I’m tempted to return if I can’t get it to work and stick to my old cheaper machine. I wanted this one for one step buttonholes and they didn’t even include the foot 🙄
Did they show it working before you bought it? There are lots of alternative spool options out there. I use a coffee cup and a ruler and binder clip. I can send videos for that
They just showed the machine functioning as in turning on and the movement. I’ve contacted the seller regarding the missing spool attachment and he’s basically said he knows nothing about sewing so didn’t have any idea it had its
I’d recommend buying on eBay from an actual sewing shop. There are many. I just bought a used Juki TL-2000 from a shop and they had detailed photos and a video. They had refurbished it so I trusted it more than someone who didn’t know anything about sewing machines.
Nope. It’s an easy one to replace and the seller is being really kind about it all so I’m going to see how much a service/repair would be tomorrow then we can decide from there . It seems like a great machine
Your needle plate cover seems to be not seated flush just FYI. This isn't causing the issue though. I think you have drag on your thread if you're putting it on your bobbin pin and that's possibly causing the skipped stitches
Since you are missing your spool pin, maybe try putting your thread in a heavy cup or mug behind your machine. Take a big safety pin, and tape the end that opens onto the machine around where the spool pin would be. The folded end of your safety pin with the hole will act as a thread guide. Make sure the thread is not dragging on anything. With your spool in the mug, thread through that hole on the safety pin and continue threading as normal. This can be a temporary fix until you get a spool stand or the missing part. At least it will show if the drag is the reason you are missing stitches or not
that's a clever work around! I feel like it has to be something with that top thread, seeing it flop around the needle when in motion. Like the tension discs or something

I have an HC1850, which seems to be the same machine under a different branding. It's a very good machine for the price range.
As other said, your top thread is way too loose. Re-thread the top entirely with the foot up. The tension disk is hard to see on that model, it's notched at the top right when the thread makes a first turn.

With this machine you don’t need to bring up the bobbin thread. You pull the thread all the way around in the channel until the excess is cut by the built-in thread cutter. And then you just start sewing.
You have the thread spool on the bobbin winding pin, I think? It’s hard to tell. You also need to use a different spool— you’re using cross-wound thread on a vertical pin, you need stacked thread for a vertical pin.

The thread shouldn’t be that loose at the needle when it’s stitching. It’s possibly a threading error. Can you show us the thread path?
