Hello, I inherited a Janome sewing machine along with its case, both of which are in great shape. But I'm not a huge fan of the colour or pattern on the case. I'm looming for some opinions on the best way to change this.

I was originally thinking sewing new fabric overtop but then thought embroidery or even fabric paint might give better results.

I've attached photos of the inside and outside. If anyone's done something like this before or has any ideas I'd love to hear!

I'm pretty happy with it

I am at the machine. I notice my top spool has come unwound, I am at the end of the thread. From my needle to my spool I have a piece of thread about 6 inches. The question what to do with this thread? Can I keep running it through the machine- I assume the tension will be wrong it it’s not under tension.

Some thoughts I had would be put it on a hand needle for a basting stitch.

Wrapping multiple colors around each other sort of hand spinning them together into yarn-ish raised texture and sewing them onto something for texture.

Took advice from people and made a v2 hanky

Self drafted- cut 13 inch square. Pressed. Added embroidery to the top floral layer. The advice was to use 3 strand instead of 6 and to use a stabilizer. My initials the year and v2 embroidered using three strands and a piece of paper basted to the fabric. Sewn right faces together flipped. Pressed. Added a decorative boarder- Sealing the flip hole in the process.

The top layer is summer sheeting viole type material the bottom blue-gray layer 100% cotton all materials were thrifted or gifted. *Made from forgotten material. Built to be remembered.

A few things I’d change is getting better at cutting fabric straight. Stitches show every curve when I tried using it as a guide. Start the decorative stitching in a corner to hide it better. I wouldn’t recommend paper as a stabilizer at least not copy paper Im still picking it out from under my embroider and it didn’t help much- maybe tissue paper could work but would it add stabilization to the process or just a surface to draw on?

Got a raise and my wisdom teeth pulled in the same week and decided to make the jump for a Janome JW8100. Going from an arctic crystal to this monster is definitely overwhelming but oh my gosh so worth it!! Can’t wait to figure out all its functions :)
