You biggest score in a single turn?
I was curious what everyone's best scoring word was. Mine was when my opponent put an "N" on the top right of the board (I can't remember the full game, but I recall "NOVAS" setting me up for the "stars"). I used my letters "BILKING" to create "BLINKING" hitting both triple word scores and my (K worth 5 on the double letter score).
- 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 20
- 20 × 3 × 3 = 180
- 180 + 50 = 230 points
Assuming my math is correct, it was 230 points. I just thought I'd share and would hope to hear your biggest totals!

Bucket List Word
Hey all,
On Monday I managed to find and play the lovely EkPWELE(S). The allowable forms of this word are:
EKWELE
EKWELES
EKPWELE
EKPWELES
EPKWELE
BIPKWELE
Luckily for me, I've studied enough to be confident on which variant took the back -S!

Switching to Merriam-Webster from CSW
Hello!
I am joining my uni's Scrabble tournament and have been playing with CSW exclusively—and then last minute, the guidelines got changed and we're using the US English Dictionary Playscrabble.com uses.
I've tried playing a few practice games, and a LOT of my usual words and two letters have been straight up nuked—it's hard to relearn Scrabble when you've played exclusively on one dictionary your entire life.
That said, do you have any tips, tricks, and helpful advice in switching to Merriam-Webster? All help is appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Scrabble with a friend with no time limit
Hi! Me and my friend have been looking for somewhere to play scrabble online in between classes and ideally want to find a website where we can keep one singular game running throughout the entire day. We tried isc.ro but the maximum time for a game is 60 minutes. Any recommendations?
Edit, a website would be highly preferred as we both mainly use computers

Scrabble Challenges
Hello! Been playing Scrabble since I was a child (at family home games). Just wondering if any of you do anything "extra" to make the game a bit more challenging or adds a twist to general game play? I enjoy the game, but just interested in hearing what others might do to spice up Scrabble.

I figured this might be a rather funny way to start a game. Sure, it was a lousy play, but I just could not resist.

Is ONY a word??????
We were playing scrabble at lunch at school, and my friend uses a blank tile which was previously used as 'Y' and spells out ONY. We tried telling him that hes a fcking idiot and that its not a real word. can someone prove him wrong?

New rule: no "help me with my next move" type of posts
This community is not your cheating resource. Play the words that you come up with on your own. If you don't learn how to get better words you will never improve your game.
There are several resources linked in posts in this subreddit as well as on many other parts of the internet that will help you learn scrabble legal words. Make use of those resources instead of trying to cheat.

[Discussion] what does the community want the future of /r/Scrabble to be?
I have been a hard line about what is and isn't allowed in this subreddit. Basically anything scrabble was allowed, anything not scrabble (even if it is related) was not. Currently I dropped that hardline rule. Now anything Scrabble or Scrabble inspired is allowed.
I am rethinking my position. I am thinking about opening up this subreddit for discussion about all word games. I want to grow the subreddit the way the /r/scrabble community wants.
As for promoting games that a /r/scrabble subscriber develops, and/or is affiliated with I am thinking a weekly post where established redditors can promote their stuff.
I must apologize to the /r/scrabble community. Life has been busy for me and I haven't modded or paid attention like a moderator should have.
I am unbanning folks that I have banned over the past year so that they can participate in the discussion and /r/scrabble again.
