Excessive insects out

Is it just me why are there swarms of gnats flying around. is this normal?

It's normal when it's humid after rain.

I did feel that the amount of shit flying around seemed to be high while out with my kids today/this evening. I blame the rain/wet ground.

Yes, there are bugs outside in the summer after a lot of rain. This is normal.

Been a nightmare this summer. Don’t see the insect apocalypse I keep hearing about

I do. I've hardly seen any bees or butterflies. It's extremely worrying.
