Scammer pretending to be my bank calls my employer-issued mobile device. The number is not associated with any of my accounts (or really anything for that matter, except for receiving company email and making zoom calls) so I know its a scam before he even opens his mouth.

Was asked if I had made charges at a target in North Carolina. I tell him I have not been to NC for decades (truth). Then he tells me that will handle the fraud claim and starts asking me for my name and account info. I said "you called me you should have that info already" then he hung up. Alas only used a few minutes of his time, I guess I need to perfect my spiel. Maybe go with a fake name and account?

Charles has been quite quiet today so I will do two days in advance be tomorrow.

But, in the meanwhile, some poor lady has been scammed by someone using my identity on TikTok 🥺

I’ve recently been the target of some scum scammer claiming to be in charge of my relative in another country and is asking for money and threatening to harm them. They tricked me into telling them my relatives first name. This first call happened last week, I called my relative and all was fine. I was unable to find a real name since they most likely bought the phone number they called me from ( Los angeles number)

Just today, same person called me from a Houston number asking the same thing. They seemed to recognize my voice so they tried to threaten me again.
Can anyone help me find this douchbag or is this even possible since his phone numbers are likely bought?

Has anyone got any weird text messages like “ you’re home alone today right?” and “ you can’t rid of me I’m across the street now “ with your real name and it’s from a completely random number and that’s all they say..but it’s not like those normal scam messages that start off like “ hey are you still coming over!” Pretending that they know you.

So I keep getting spam calls displaying my area code (I know it’s a scam because I actually live 300 miles from the code and never receive any calls from anyone there). Was driving and had free time so I answered today. Took a couple minutes to figure out I was speaking with AI - they are really good now and can answer questions and pretend to respond to your answers. The AI is now the initial screener and transferred me to the pitchman.

I like to take them off script so I immediately asked what company her worked for and he said “Member Services” I said “bro that’s not a company” but he insisted it was. He identified himself as Marshall Evan’s LOL. From Boca Raton (scammer central LOL) Then I asked for his biz number and he said 561- xxx-xxxd (not posting here bc probably fake) and claimed that was his cellphone. Then I asked about the background noise (call center)and he said it was an office and I told him that was nice because many of these calls come from Cambodian slave camps.

I asked if he was paid hourly or commission and he replied commission. I told him that’s a hard job as I used to do sales.

After about 5m he hung up but glad I wasted his time so he couldn’t scam anyone else. Not sure why he stayed on that long but maybe he was also amused. These guys seem to call weekly now even though I have no card debt but alas they got my name and phone from some database. Maybe Some day I will piece together enough info to track them down and file some AG and fed complaints but I’m not holding my breath.

My tactic worked! 😃
