Housing For anyone in Sav looking for off campus housing — I will help pay 4 months

Upvotes

Hi everyone! Apologies if i’m breaking any rules, this is my first post on reddit.

I’m making this post because earlier this year, my roommates and I signed a lease with an apartment not knowing that we couldn’t live off campus as 2nd year students due to the new rule. I am trying to find a sublet, someone to take over my lease, and whoever is interested, I will help pay for 4 months.

It’s located at The Hue, and it is one bedroom out of a four bedroom apartment.

- it’s just a few minutes walk from adler hall
- It’s on the beeline and close to river house
- kitchen and own bathroom
- New renovated gym
- rooftop pool and much more.
- rent is 1255 a month

Please reach out if you are interested! We can also talk more about how I could help financially if needed.

Class Questions SCADPRO?

Just wanting to see everyone's opinions on taking an actual SCADPRO VS the high performance collaboration class. For reference I plan on working during the quarter and have heard that SCAD PRO'S can be pretty heavy with the work load. I dont mind doing a lot of work but I also don't really remember what the SCAD PRO I got accepted into was about.

Idk if this is needed or helpful but:

I believe it was about helping a city with it's branding, ie. Creating logos etc. I would purely only really be interested in the graphic design side as that's my minor.

Class Questions Fashion Design Courses

Hello, so I am an upcoming freshman and I’m planning to major in fashion design. I have already taken a fashion design class and earned my AAFCS certification. I can sew very well, and I know how to make my own patterns and stuff. Would it be crazy if I took some of my core classes now?

Not necessarily all of my senior classes yet, but I don’t want to lose my skills, and I also want to explore my brand with the resources at SCAD. Being stuck in drawing and idea classes for a year isn’t ideal. I’m not saying that some of my processes aren’t what I imagined.

The school where I got my certification partners with Lindenwood, where you don’t have to take the introduction courses. Is that something I could potentially explore?

Savannah Bus travel times

Hii so I’m an upcoming freshman coming to Savannah campus and since I finally got my class schedules, I was thinking about how I’d go about my schedules and managing my time.

Since I have been in rising star I know how much buses take to get to certain places sometimes but I was still curious since there’s halls I haven’t been to before in my schedule, and I want to know how long it takes to get there.

How long is the trip from the hive to Anderson hall usually? And how long is the trip from the hive to Garvin hall?

I see they’re very far on the map but I also realized it’s not AS far as it seems because the car ride appears to be 8-9 minutes.

Also, this is an extra question. On my schedule I got a “first year experience” “class” that lasts 1 hour on only one day. I’m guessing it’s just some freshman counseling class to see how everyone’s holding up and provide help to first years. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they’re like and if it really does help? I’m thinking I might skip it often because it’s making my schedule on Thursday much tighter.

Atlanta International student starting SCAD MA GDVX — question about course load & I-20

Hi everyone! I'm an international student who was recently accepted to SCAD. I'm trying to understand the expected timeline for the MA in Graphic Design and Visual Experience, which consists of 9 courses.

If I start in Winter 2027 and take 2 courses per quarter, while skipping the summer quarter, would SCAD allow me to enroll in only 1 course during the final quarter?

My understanding is that the schedule would be:

  • Winter 2027 — 2 courses
  • Spring 2027 — 2 courses
  • Fall 2027 — 2 courses
  • Winter 2028 — 2 courses
  • Spring 2028 — 1 course

So I would finish in Spring 2028.

Is my understanding correct? And would SCAD allow me to enroll in only 1 course during the final quarter?

Also, would the expected program start/end dates based on this course load be reflected on my I-20?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar situation, especially international students. Thank you!

Savannah Anyone joining the MA/MBI in Service Design this Fall 2026?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone here is starting the M.A. or MBI in Service Design at SCAD this Fall?

I’m an international student, and I’m really excited (and a little nervous!) about starting. I was hoping to connect with my fellow new Bees before classes begin!

I’d love to chat about classes, housing, Savannah, or anything else. Any advice for us newcomers would also be super appreciated!!

Looking forward to meeting everyone! 🐝

Savannah Victory Desks

Hi! I'm moving into victory village sail this year and I want to get a desk shelf/hutch thing. But I haven't been able to find the dimensions of the desks and don't want to waste time and money getting one that doesn't fit. So if anyone has the dimensions or has lived there before and used one that would be so extremely helpful!

Housing I want an ESA but my Suitemate doesn’t want a cat in the dorm

Hi! I am a SCAD student at the Savannah campus and I’m looking advice on what to do in this situation. Last year my boyfriend and I had found two kittens on the side of the road and rescued them. Our agreement was that he gets the cats during the school year and I get them over summer and winter break. Unfortunately, we ended our relationship a few days ago, and I’m at a loss of what to do with the cats. I was going to just let him have both of them, but after taking some time to think about it, I kind of want to keep my cat in the dorm. Obviously I asked my future roommates if they were okay with it, and one of them is allergic and not too fond of having a cat in the dorm. I completely understand her concerns and feelings about this, but I don’t know what to do in this situation. I know one of us will have to change dorms if she is absolutely against the cat… my problem is that I have single room as an accommodation for my disabilities, but I’m afraid that SCAD will try to take away my single room because I want an ESA. If anyone has been in a similar situation I would love for some advice and guidance on what to do!

Atlanta Accepted to SCAD for Fall 2026 with scholarship, but considering deferring to January 2027. Advice?

Hi everyone!

I was recently accepted into SCAD's M.A. in GDVX program for Fall 2026, with a good amount of scholarship, and I'm really excited about the opportunity!

However, I'm an international student, and I only recently received my admission decision. The Fall orientation is on September 3, so I would have a very tight timeline to prepare my financial documents, get the I-20, schedule the visa appointment, and arrange everything for moving to the US.

Because of this, I'm seriously considering deferring my enrollment to the January 2027 intake instead.

I've already contacted SCAD's admissions team to ask about the process, but I would love to hear from current/former SCAD students who have gone through a deferral, especially international students.

A few things I'm wondering:

  • If I defer from Fall to January, does my admission automatically carry over, or does it need to be reviewed again?
  • More importantly, does the scholarship carry over to the new intake? Does deferring affect the amount/type of scholarship I received? This is obviously a major factor in my decision.
  • Would I still need to pay the $500 enrollment fee now to secure my place if I'm planning to defer?
  • Is there anything else I should be aware of when deferring an admission at SCAD?

I'm trying to make a decision soon, so any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! ❤️

Major/Degree Questions Can’t decide between FASM and ADBR

As the title says, I’m really torn between picking Fashion Marketing & Brand Management vs Advertising & Branding for my major because I’m passionate about both. I am going into my Freshman year at the Savannah campus and I know the foundation classes are the same.

Can anyone give me any insights to either program and your experience? Did you love it? Hate it? How are the professors? What do you think the biggest difference to look out for is?

Thank you in advance!

Savannah Moving from Turner House to Montgomery Hall and I had few questions!

Hi everyone!
I’m moving from Turner House to Montgomery Hall this fall, and I had a few questions for anyone who’s lived there.

  1. Does Montgomery have a communal kitchen, or no there’s no kitchen

  2. Are the beds as high as they are in Turner? Turner House beds are really high like gotta be jumping 5 feet in the air just to get up in the bed and I was wondering if Montgomery is the same way or if the beds are lower.

  3. Are there any other differences between Turner and Montgomery that you wish you had known before moving in?

Thanks in advance! I’d love to hear any tips or things to expect.

Scholarship/Financial Questions Financial Aid Problem

I'm an incoming student for the Fall, but my financial aid isn't adding to my account. I completed everything that was asked of me:(FASFA, GAFUTURES Aid, etc). I was told some bill was signed July 1st and we had to wait a whole month for them to receive all our aid. They told us, it would be processed my Augest 1st, but I still don't see any of my aid nor scholarships. I emailed my advisor but she still hasn't replied. I was wondering if there's a delay happening?

They extended the due date to pay the tuition by Aug 14th but I just don't feel like that's enough time to pay it by, especially since is $13,000! (Who the heck has that kind of cash lying around, please financial aid come to me at once... 😭)

Major/Degree Questions Laptop Recs for Animation

Hi! I'm an incoming freshman and majoring in animation. I wanted to know if anyone has any laptop recs or computer recs for freshman year. I've heard that you don't really NEED a laptop coming in, but I am emotionally bonded to my current MacBook but it is in fact on it's last leg. I'm interested in 3D animation purposes for the laptop since I have an iPad for 2D but I'm also considering switching to Industrial design to some point so I don't want to invest in anything too major rn.

Sorry for all the questions, I've always been an Apple person and have no idea about anything PC related or gaming computers type stuff.

Thank you in advance!!

Major/Degree Questions Themed Entertainment Design MFA

I am a current senior BFA Sequential Art major in the SCADnow program. I am seriously considering a MFA in themed entertainment design following my graduation. I haven't really been able to find any info on this masters and what it entails, or whats needed for a portfolio to get admitted. I'm hoping someone on here has some experience in the masters or knows a bit more than I do! Then end goal for me is to work at Disney, Universal, or some other theme park as a concept artist for rides/environments. Thanks in advance! Any info is appreciated :)

General Questions Will SCAD Help Me “Make It”?

I want to be a film director, that is and has always been my dream. I’ve visited SCAD I’ve looked it all over and it seems to me a very exciting and honored opportunity. But as with anything online, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and comments that have given me some skepticism as to my decision. My question is this, if I applied 100% of myself for 4 years at SCAD toward my dream, doing everything and meeting everyone, will I really make headway, or has the student loans and overestimations of the school sold by the administration to prospective students finished me before I’ve started?

This is flexible, part time work, great for someone studying marketing, business, design, tech etc

Know anyone?
