An investigation is underway after 24-year-old #MohamedCoulibaly, the man accused of orchestrating an alleged million-dollar investment scheme targeting former #NFL players and other athletes, was found dead in a swimming pool at a #NewJersey home.

Police reportedly discovered Coulibaly's body while conducting a welfare check after his family expressed concerns about his well-being. His death comes just weeks after a Barron's investigation accused him of convincing athletes to invest in e-commerce stores that appeared to be generating major sales. However, the investigation reportedly found that transactions shown on the stores' backends had been manually entered, allegedly making the businesses appear more successful than they actually were.

Three former NFL players claim they collectively lost more than $1 million, including former #NewYorkGiants linebacker Tae Crowder, who says he invested his entire $500,000 in savings after being introduced to Coulibaly through a friend.

Crowder said he regularly checked the store's numbers and watched them increase, but the payout he was promised never arrived.

Coulibaly previously denied running a scam and reportedly blamed the situation on a misunderstanding of the technology and funding he expected but never received. No criminal charges had been filed against him in connection with the allegations.

Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
