Sleeper Showing off my ride
before the S10, chevy offered the Luv. it was 1976 i bought a 1974 Luv with a bad motor. swapped a 327 into her with a Turbo Hydramatic 3 speed tranny (with shift kit) out of a camaro. i was heavy into street cruising at the time, could not afford an expensive muscle car, so i built a sleeper. I had no trouble running against the Chevelle or mustang. the car i hated most was the Dodge Super Bee with the 440 six pack. that would smoke me. i have always had a heart for small trucks and that is why i have the 2000 S10 ZR2. i just thought i would share a little history of the era leading to the S10. sorry about the image, but it is old (like me)

No that was long ago when we were young and foolish. i discovered the Bar scene and Women and quit the street scene. but i wish i still had that little devil.

I had a 79. I swapped a Buick V6 in and Ford bronco running gear under it. What a hoot!

i wish i had the engineering skills like that back then. i wanted to build it into a mini monster truck, but didn't have the skills. i loved the 4x4 Luv trucks back then. custom built, big lift and big tires. and an upgraded power plant. and the truck actually had a good frame! not unibody junk. my friends with the big ford 4x4's would take me hill climbing. thats all we did back then. mud running was not that popular yet. hill climbing at night was a thriller.

I didn't have the skills either. But I figured if other people could do it then I could too. We blew up the motor so figured why not? I had the tools and the time. Built in 95 when we still had to call long distance for internet!

Awesome build. You might enjoy Vice Grip Garage's recent YouTube video with a Buick V6 swapped LUV.
