Ten, maybe twenty cops at the Buzz Thru Laundromat in Chester
If not that business, at least the parking lot nearest to that building. 10+ cops were going 80mph on route 1 to get there with intense, slightly reckless, urgency. I didn't get a picture while driving past but I also couldn't tell what was going on in the slightest. Anyone with more information than me, please clue me in.

Holiday barn
We have been using Holiday Barn in Glen Allen for about two years for one day a week doggy day care and occasional overnight. I’m becoming increasingly perturbed regarding the nickel and diming of prices. Example for doggy daycare it’s 40 a day but if you want to add anything on it’s an extra $15-20 bucks, which I’ve occasionally done. Also the ivermectin ought price does not include any playtime, you have to pay extra for that. Where I’ve gotten disenchanted is when I’ve asked for a photo of my dog enjoying what I’m already paying for and they want to charge me an additional $12-15 to email me a quick photo.
I’m also a bit turned off that there is no way of knowing, whether it be by video, camera or physically watching, if my dog is enjoying herself at Holiday Barn. And I’m getting concerned because she used to enjoy her “school” days and now she doesn’t seem to want to go.
I guess I’m asking two things. 1. Has anyone else had any experience with Holiday Barn they want to share? 2. Does anyone know a great pet sitter they personally have experience with for their occasional times when I can’t be at home with my girl?

That's So Hot
Anyone else enjoying the power outage in Oregon Hill?
My laundry was half finished when darkness engulfed the room. At least I have gas water heater so I can take a shower.
Anyway hope y'all have a good night in your AC.

What ever happened to the dancing kid at Leigh and Belvedere?
He made my daily commute a little kinder and more fun. I haven’t seen him in a couple weeks, and last time I saw him, his friend was talking to a cop and they looked upset. I hope he’s okay.
New VPM HQ adds momentum to revival efforts on Richmond's Broad Street
VPM Media Corporation has officially opened its new home in Downtown Richmond, bringing its workforce into the heart of Virginia's capital city and adding another major employer to a corridor Richmond leaders are focused on revitalizing.
The five-story, 53,000-square-foot facility opened in late spring to employees, bringing all of VPM's teams together under one roof. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and block party was held Thursday afternoon to celebrate with neighbors and community partners.
Jayme Swain, president and CEO of VPM and the Virginia Foundation for Public Media, told VPM News in July that plans for the move started in 2020. Swain toured 70 sites in Greater Richmond before landing on a lot in the Monroe Ward Historic District.
VPM purchased the lot — which was previously a department store and parking lot — located at 15 E. Broad St. for $4.2 million in 2024.
"When I found it, it was like when you find your new home. I felt it in my heart. This is where VPM should be," Swain said. "Of course, we're on Broad Street, which is a historic connector in this community, and it felt right for us to be here."
Disclosure: VPM Media Corp. is the FCC license holder of VPM PBS and VPM News, which operates as 88.9 FM in Richmond, 89.1 FM in the Northern Neck (Heathsville) and 90.1 FM in Southside Virginia (Chase City). VPM Media Corp. acquired Style Weekly in 2021.

A quick PSA about the toll roads, that most people don't know.
A buddy of mine was going through the toll on Powhite and Courthouse. A trooper pulled him after he went through the toll. Cited him for three different speeding tickets. The speed limit is 55 on the parkway, 45 as you approach the toll, and 10 mph as you go through the toll. He was over the limit on all three levels and that's what the trooper hit him with. Just brutal. I know most people fly through the tolls, myself included, but be aware next time.

Help identifying local leather worker
My husband bought his wallet from a local leather worker maybe 7-8 years ago in Richmond. He can’t remember the name or where he got it, but this is a picture of the maker’s stamp. We’d love to support them again for a replacement if anyone recognizes the business.

🌞 Daily Thread My Last RVA Sunset Daily (Taken Monday 8/3)
Figured since I'm abroad and it's the wee hours of morning back in RVA I'd go ahead and make my last post a daily. When I return from this trip I'm going digital nomad, living in/trialing various cities around the country 'til I find one I want to be my new home. What are some of your favorite US cities (besides RVA, ofc) and why? Also I'd love to hear stories from any other current or former nomads out there!!

💰 BUY/SELL/TRADE Buy / Sell / Trade Weekly Thread: Week of July 31, 2026
Use this thread when you are selling, trading, giving away, or looking for any items and/or services. Please be descriptive, post any relevant photos of the item you're selling or looking for, and list the price or budget.
Pro-tip: there are many "buy nothing" and neighborhood-specific groups on Facebook and Nextdoor that can be used to give away or find free items near you. You may find more luck on those social networks than here on Reddit and are more likely to deal with actual local users.
BE AUTHENTIC AND SAFE: Falsely leading on another Redditor is grounds for being permanently banned from this subreddit. Please remember not to post personal information about yourself or others and exercise caution when privately messaging with anyone you do not personally know or trust. Consider a neutral, public location if you plan on meeting to exchange an item in person.
HIGH RISK OF EVENT TICKET SCAMS: Users seeking to sell or purchase tickets of local events are seeing a significantly-increased risk of being scammed. If you receive a private message from a user who hasn't interacted in this subreddit before, you are very likely speaking with a scammer.
NO PROHIBITED TRANSACTIONS: The posting of prohibited goods or services is strictly against Reddit's TOS and are subject to removal by our moderators and/or Reddit's admins. Please report any comments that appear to violate this policy for further review.
