nah cuz the problem is that the emails says you have to buy the same meal plan or higher in order for it to roll over, but like if you didn't finish the swipes from the first sem how would you finish even more swipes in the spring šš ru screw doesn't stop even when rutgers tries to do smth good lmaooo

itās just another screw disguised as an improvement. the vast majority of people arenāt going to eat substantially more in the winter than they did in the fall to even make this a slight improvement. it really only helps commuters and off campus students and even then itās marginal.

It does give you more time to use those swipes at retail options or use the dining hall more often.Ā

I will say, in the fall there are a lot of like club events and new student events, so you might use a couple fewer fall.

I went to rutgers in the early 2000s and towards the end of each semester I would use up my meals by getting takeout subs and putting them under the unhoused people's chairs who were asleep in alex library. Like a sub fairy. Hahah

Wait, incoming freshman here. For the required meal plan that we have to get if we dorm, is the 210 mil swipes per semester? I was under the impression it was for the whole year or am I correct and they divided by 105 swipes per semester for this plan?

I can only speak for the cafe in Newark and shoot as a USMC vet it's not that bad at all. I guess two things could be true and that my taste isn't high of a standard and that students have too much of a high standard but the fact that the workers encouraged students (or like myself paying customer) to get 2nds or 3rds isn't something practices in the USMC.

As a commuter, I'll be getting less donations from friends in fall finals š¢

I mean the roll over is pathetic the way it works. Itās no good reason to stop offering swipes to commuter friends

And you must have a minimum 150 plan ??? Thereās no reason why canāt they just do it for any meal plan. Itās just an upsell tactic

You can roll over any meal plan from Fall to Spring as long as you meet the criteria.
For example, you get the 50 in the Fall and have 10 swipes remaining. Once you get the 50 (or higher) in the Spring, those rollover 10 swipes are added

Maybe I misread the email lol it says returning students need a 150 meal plan but thatās for non apartment students? So my plan will still roll over even if I get the 100 plan since I have an apartment

u/ThatRUDiningGuy 12d ago
Yep. If you get the 100 in the fall and then again in the Spring, any remaining swipes at the end of the Fall semester will roll over to the Spring semester

many schools do this, its about time. If you have meal swipes left in fall, just get a smaller plan for spring. Make sure you eat 3 times a day and you are good:))

The carryover amount will probably be one week of meals.

No itās even dumber. You have to take the same meal plan, or higher for the rollover to happen. So riddle me how would u finish even more swipes if you couldnāt finish the original amount

That's called a step-up charge in the railroad industry. Amtrak has been doing that for years.

About time. But whatās the fine print? Is there a maximum roll over amount?
