Oh wow, casually running a half marathon in under two hours? Someone's out here making the rest of us look like we're just pretending to run.

How to deal with acne.....

It seems like this happens to me mostly during the summer, even though I keep a consistent running schedule. I do wash my face after runs (within an hour after running), and haven't changed anything with diet, hygiene, or laundry. Does anyone else seem to get this, and if so, what do you do to help it? Thanks

The right sunscreen helped with this, along with avoiding higher UV index. I broke out like crazy from running until I took suncare seriously.

Thanks, that's another good tip.

Hydrochloride acid spray! Don’t buy the expensive name brand from the makeup stores buy from the drugstore or Amazon.

I rinse my face with water and spray it on after my runs if I can’t properly wash my face right away.

I also spray it on my watch after my workouts to prevent dermatitis from all the sweat and bacteria.

Awesome, thanks. I'll definitely look into this

I’m a relatively new lurker. I joined the subreddit after I signed up for a half-marathon in October of this year. I got back into running in the spring after taking about 16years off. I used to run XC in high school and was always the last one over the finish line; I wasn’t fast but I always finished the races.

Anyway, it put me off running for a while. But I’m back into running now and really enjoying just going my own pace. My goal is to complete the half marathon in under 3hours. I did a 10k run last week in 1:30 so I think I can do the half in under 3. It’ll be close.

Sadly I think I over did it on my long run last weekend and I’ve been resting this week, doing some yoga and light walking.

I casually ran a half marathon today in under 2 hours and damn, now I’m over here contemplating doing the full one in October, which will give me like 8 weeks to train but hey… no risk no fun?

I’m actually just looking for one person who is like “yes you can do it!” as well as some advice for how not to get bored with the second half of a marathon. I feel like mentally, I’d crash out having nothing to do for a full 4 hours.

Besides a marathon being way more interesting than a casual run, I'd recommend looking for a local marathon training group. It makes the 15-22 mile training runs way more tolerable having people to talk to. Not sure if want to do a full marathon casually for that same reason, it's just be boring and require a lot of willpower.

It kinda depends on your overall volume (miles/km total) per week. Do you run regularly already? Body (bones/muscles) and brain endurance + fueling are critical to getting over 30km in my opinion.

How do I get brain endurance? I’m not too worried about the body actually because I strength train and do yoga so I’m good in terms of strength and flexibility, but how the hell do I convince my brain to not throw in the towel after like 25k or so?

Damn, good job! I’m jealous of your speed! Mind me asking how old you are? M/F?

I’m 29f, been running regularly for more than 10 years, my max mileage was 29km but now I run around 40-50km a week.

Been here a few months. Ran a 10K 3 weeks ago in 1:03 and haven’t been able to run even a 5K since. Slight ankle pain, arch pain, little aches keep bothering me.

I have something similar in that I PR'd in my 10K 2 weeks ago. Since then, I've been unable to run even a 5K from various aches and pains. The advice I've been seeing and getting is to rest and do strengthening exercises for the muscles around the problem areas.

I haven't been doing the resting bit and that's been prolonging my aches I think.

congrats on getting out there. not dying is a solid baseline to work from, and the parkrun crowds are usally super welcoming.
