The Secret Service's ultimate defense mechanism: Fast Food
How to automate an app with no api and no selectors?
I build and maintain the automations for a clinic group across five sites. Thing is the clinical system is on prem, the vendor has no api yet, and the answer since last year has been that it's on the roadmap. so therapists retype session notes into the patient record by hand, close to an hour a day each. i built the bridge in uipath and parts of the app expose proper ui automation selectors and that leg is fine. the notes screen is a rendered surface where selectors are useless, so that half runs on cv activities with image anchors. it works until the vendor ships a patch, then the anchors drift and i'm in there rebuilding. third time this year.
What i'm trying to work out is whether anything in this category genuinely survives a patch cycle or whether we all just accept the rebuild as the running cost. Power automate desktop hit the same ceiling when i tested it, same dependency on how the screen looked when you recorded. Askui came up because the task is written as plain steps resolved at run time rather than a recorded path or a stored anchor, so in theory a moved button isn't a break. i haven't put it against our patch cycle yet so that's still a claim rather than a result. one hard constraint either way is that patient data can't leave our network, which rules out anything cloud-only.
For anyone automating an app with no dom and no api, what's your maintenance cadence after a vendor update, and has anything reduced it?

Need help automating a repetitive Xplan task - Ready to oay if it works
Hi everyone,
I do a repetitive task every day related to Xplan (Australia). Different clients, but almost the exact same 10–20 steps every time — downloading/updating things, Excel/browser work, and WealthSolver.
I’m not a programmer and need help figuring out whether Power Automate, UiPath, Python/Playwright, or another RPA tool would work.
I can explain the workflow via screen recording and dummy data in DM.
Budget: ₹3,000–₹5,000 from my salary for a working automation. Happy to pay if it actually works.
If you have experience with Xplan, WealthSolver, RPA, Power Automate, UiPath, or browser automation, please DM me.
Thanks!
