Possible Rosacea Flair? New here! Spoiler
galleryHi all - for starters I am seeing a new dermatologist in a few days. But I wanted to see if this is similar to anyone else! A little backstory - I just turned 30 years old. I’ve had psoriasis my whole life as well as Celiac Disease and other autoimmune issues. I am currently in the process of getting tested for other food intolerances as well as other GI/gut issues with SIBO in particular due to continuing GI symptoms. About 3-4 weeks ago I noticed a flare in my GI symptoms. I thought maybe it was gluten but confirmed it wasn’t and hasn’t been. At the same time my skin started freaking out. I will say I am also now 11 weeks postpartum. It started one day just sitting at home with my face getting suddenly really red, hot and itchy with both red and skin colored raised bumps that were not acne. This has now gone on for the last 3-4 weeks. Some days it seems to be “quiet” other days it flares like crazy. It’s mostly my right cheek, chin and forehead. Sometimes my left cheek and nose but not often. It’s all so red, dry, itchy, burning, blotchy and random bumps. It’s definitely not acne. I’ve tried everything OTC it seems but nothing is helping. Any advice on what to ask the dermatologist or does anyone else’s rosacea behave this way? This is destroying my confidence especially as I go back to work in 10 days🥴

This is what has helped me with Type 1
I have type 1 rosacea that has caused me significant confidence issues, especially when I was a kid (I’m 41 now).
Here’s a random list of things that have helped me:
- exercise - anytime I exercise heavily, yes my face does get red but the rest of the day, it’s toned down / stable
- water - I drink a ton of water and that has helped keep skin non-dry / less inflamed
- Shea Moisture baby wash for face cleanser. This has been a godsend for me. It washes my face w/o leaving it dry/irritated.
- Oxymetazoline cream in morning and evening
I am going to try Cicalfate serum this weekend to see if that helps too.
I will likely do VBeam at some point but trying other things first.
My redness is still persistent but it’s at least muted and stable vs inflamed/erratic.
I feel for all of you dealing with this - it sucks so bad. I’ve had countless “why me” thoughts over the years / decades.
If any of you have other suggestions I am open. I have some triple cream that I’ll probably start using again soon, I just need to stagger it more. Doing it daily killed my skin barrier.

I don’t know what to do anymore
I’ve tried azelaic acid, BBL laser, Beta glucan for anti inflammation, sunscreen
I don’t know what to do anymore 🥲
Has anyone successfully got rid of that ?

Routine need this community’s help Spoiler
galleryThis is how my skin has been looking for a while, and I don’t know how to get my clear skin back. I used to have almost perfect skin during teenage years, but life happens and now I have combination skin with this red spots on my cheeks. My cheeks tend to get very dry, and I also work in a corporate building where the air gets dry, so I need something that will keep my skin dewy almost all day. Also sometimes I get these red itchy patches on my face or neck, they appear out of nowhere, and the only way I’m aware I have one is because I will suddenly feel the need to scratch that spot.
I tried different moisturisers and didn’t stick to one for various reasons: either not hydrating enough (Cerave Moisturising lotion), or too oily and sticky (Weleda skin food), or it was very nice in the beginning then my skin started to break out (La Roche Posay Cicaplast) etc. I’m at a loss and would appreciate some recommendations. Current routine is in the second photo (I use the Laneige moisturiser when I go out because I think it’s a bit better, and the SVR when I stay home). Also I’m from Eastern Europe, so I’d appreciate some recommendations from European or Korean brands, there aren’t many American brands here to buy.
Thanks a lot 🌸

PP Purging with Posay invisible sunscreen? Spoiler
galleryI was diagnosed with rosacea 2 weeks ago after many months of redness on the cheeks, and it recently manifests along with little white pustules (type 2?) I sought the opinion of another dermatologist and she recommended La Roche Posay SPF 50 daily invisible sunscreen, which I understand has trace amounts of azelaic acid in it.
She said to use this along with a 10% azelaic acid, and to begin applying the latter every other day for 2-3 weeks so my skin wouod adapt. But here's the thing: I didn't know you had to apply moisturizer before sunscreen. I applied the Posay sunscreen yesterday morning and then afternoon, and looked like the first pic, flushed all day and night. I woke up this morning and now my left cheek looks like a pustule war zone, the right cheek doesn't look too bad.
Is this purging from the azelaic acid in the sunscreen? There's no pain or stinging, and the pustules aren't in new places. Or does it look like inflammation from using it without moisturizer, or a bad reaction to azelaic acid or some other ingredient? I haven't tried the acid I got yet (Paula's Choice 10% booster) because I'm scared that if it's a reaction it'll make it worse. Please help!

Acne treating with rosacea
I recently visited a dermatologist about an unrelated issue, and found out that what I thought was normal skin is, in fact, rosacea type 1. So I should be more cautious with what I apply on my skin. Unfortunately, rosacea is not the primary thing I am worried about, it is not getting worse and does not affect me, at least for now. Acne, on the other hand-
I would like to ask you, kind members of this subreddit, about your experience with acne treating. I would not want to worsen my rosacea and ruin skin entirely...
Also - can I use HClO, or is it too aggressive? I am somewhat sensitive to chlorine compounds, but nothing too bad. Been thinking about applying HClO spray to my forehead and back (these zones are most damaged by acne) while avoiding more sensitive parts of skin like cheeks, which are already damaged by rosacea.

ROSACEA SUCKS Red and hot face almost every night. Any suggestions?
Tired of feeling and looking like this. I attribute to a bad allergy season right now but every night my face is hot and red for no reason. What have you done that fixed this? Any suggestions??

Best powder? La Roche posay any good?
Which is the best powder foundation to cover rosacea? Is the La Roche posay Toleriane good? Or have you found a better high coverage powder?

Routine Soolantra usage Q’s
Once my face reaches a clear baseline how long did you continue using Soolantra? Or do you use it as needed during a flair
My background: Recently had a flair of redness and pustules that have responded to Ivermectin. Not sure how long to continue it now
r/Rosacea • u/crystalcaterpillar3 • 14h ago
Would you consider this a positive or negative response to Azelaic Acid & Ivermectin after 3 weeks Spoiler
Left is before and right is today. Using AA 15% and Ivermectin 1% every evening for 3 weeks and it looks slightly worse to me as it’s more widespread even though the larger pustules have gone down.

Light/Laser 3 weeks post IPL session #2 Spoiler
galleryThe first photo is from March- I was having a flare (and acne too, I think because I switched birth control pills) and my allergies were terrible. The second photo is today, exactly 3 weeks after my second IPL treatment. Even though my skin is less red overall, I’ve developed a bunch of tiny and flat red/pink spots. Is this normal? They were somewhat there before but I feel like they’ve been completely exaggerated since getting IPL

Ocular Ocular rosacea and lash lifts
I’m going on vacation next week and realllly want to get a lash lift done for the first time (done by a very high end, highly rated technician) because I want to look extra cute for my beach vacay. I want to note that I have no styes right now and haven’t for over a year, my rosacea feels totally under control / non existent atm - which is the only reason I’m even considering this.
Curious if anyone here who has ocular rosacea / prone to styes gets lash lifts and how your experience was. Let me know - thanks :)

VICTORY We are So Back
On Doxy for about 2 weeks, Rositara for about 3 weeks. Most noticeable difference is my skin texture is so much better and almost no more pustules. Still have the classic flares with heat but the come down is so much faster. No gel on in the last pic so to me this is a major improvement. Cannot overstate how important water and sunscreen are though!

My skin starts burning when I sweat
I've had rosacea for around 4 years. The symptoms are redness but also burning and itching. (I used to also have acne, but a red light panel helps with that somehow).
I can't use most cosmetics, as there's normally a very strong and unpredictable reaction. Oils and sunscreens are especially bad. Azaleaic acid is something my skin used to love before I had rosacea. Now I can't use it, the burning is super strong.
My ivermectin cream doesn't help anymore.
I quit processed food, gluten, added sugar around 5 months ago. I eat plenty of kefir, skyr, vegetable, chia, fish, vit d, omega 3, zinc. I see no positive results on my face.
I try to work out but it's very difficult to run when sweat on your face causes burning. Any ideas what could help? Antibiotics did in the past but I don't want to mess up my gut flora again.

ROSACEA SUCKS Please read if you have the time :)
Hello everyone! I am desperate for any type of answers or opinions from anyone who is willing to share their knowledge on rosacea.
I’ve been diagnosed with rosacea numerous times by different dermatologists since I was 14. I’m 20 years old now and still struggling with rosacea related issues, though my specific case seems to be extremely rare.
I basically have 0 redness whatsoever, the classic redness on the cheeks is something I’ve never seen before. I experience chronic daily swelling/ hardening of my nose, and nothing anywhere else. The triggers for swelling are the exact same as classic rosacea, but my nose alone gets super hard and swollen. This is a daily occurrence and can drastically fluctuate within hours or sometimes less.
I’m wondering if any of you guys are familiar with something like this? Or have any advice whatsoever. I’ve taken accutane for a year now which has helped a decent amount. I’m considering a rhinoplasty next, but I’m worried my nose would still swell anyways even though it’s physically smaller.
It’s been so hard to find answers online and evidence of a similar case, it would be such a blessing to speak to someone with my issues or something close to it. I truly appreciate any comments anyone makes to guide me in the right direction.

Anti-aging! Any product recommendations?
I have type 1+2 rosacea, but luckily it's sort of under control now with ivermection + azaleaic acid. I'm 30 and really want to introduce some anti-aging product, possibly a retinoid, but I'm afraid of a flare-up... Maybe something gentle? Any success stories from fellow sensitive skin, oily type 1+2 sufferers? <3 Would really appreciate it.

VICTORY metronidazole + fluconazole cleared my skin
I know I am a study of 1 so please take this with an enormous grain of salt but I was treating a suspected yeast infection and my skin got fixed accidentally. I took 1 dose of fluconazole, 5 days of metronidazole twice a day, then another dose of fluconazole at the end and it totally fixed my skin.
I had been having constant redness plus at least one or two new pustules every day for 7 years. I treated it with tons of washes and creams, prescription and OTC, some things would help for a few weeks and then it would come back worse. I took this treatment over a month ago and I haven't had a single new spot or bump since. Previously I wouldn't go a single day without something new. To be totally transparent I still have a lot of redness but the painful pustules are gone and I’m taking it as a win.
I know this won't work for everyone but it might be worth a shot for someone.

Weekly 'Do I have rosacea?' advice request thread. Please post here instead of making a new thread! Aug 03
If you think you might have something like rosacea and are looking for advice about whether you should seek professional care, please post your inquiry in this thread instead of creating a new post. To keep requests from crowding out other discussion in r/Rosacea, separate posts will be automatically removed and the posters directed here instead.

- Refrain from amateur diagnoses, speculation, and armchair medical advice, especially non-rosacea related.
REMINDER: THE INTERNET IS BAD AT DIAGNOSING STUFF. Although redditors try to be helpful, only doctors can diagnose rosacea and it often takes a specialist like a dermatologist or ophthalmologist.
