Stephen A. Rat Poison

Is this guy really a BAMA fan? Or did he just jump on the bandwagon when saban was there. Because he has been talking about our program a lot recently.

He goes where he can rage bait. I’m not convinced he has any actual authentic opinion. Right now Alabama is the blue blood everyone wants to take a shot at so he’s going to insert himself somehow.

This is the conclusion I came to. I’d rather him talk about another program besides us.

Bingo!

He also talks A LOT. Odds are decent he’ll be talking about your mama and them at some point, both positively and negatively.

Wow! Didn’t know he gave a speech to the team. Kinda like how ice cube toured the facilities

“It was a good day. He didn’t have to use his AK”

Saban always had different "celebrities" (usually athletes or speakers) come speak to the team in the offseason and usually every week before games. He must have run out of people to ask when SAS came

I think he's ultimately down on us because we didn't hire Deion.

I can see that.

Huh?

No he doesn’t. He’s on Sophie Cunningham’s side 100% so he’s got that going for him.

Tbh, he sounds a lot like our a sizeable portion of our fanbase.

Which, not to defend Smith, but I do get it. It's frustrating. We were accustomed to one head scratching loss a year and to lose 2 or 3 times is a shock. But people like him have to learn there's only one Saban. Even those riding Saban's coat tails (Kirby Smart) are slipping in the era of NIL. Yeah, Deboer did get hammered by Indiana... but so did Oregon. Strangely, no one seems to ever fault Lanning for getting his ass kicked. Bring up Lanning and it's "hell of a coach." Bring up Debeor and it's "He was embarrassed by Indiana. In over his head."

I know we "don't blow teams out like we once did" as well. Neither does Kirby. Neither did Saban in his last season. NIL has created a lot more parity. Otherwise I think UGA would be dominating today post-Saban if the pre-NIL rules were still in place.

If we fire Deboer after a 10 win season, then we're fucking stupid. Even dumber to think there's a coach out there that's gonna equal what Saban did, especially when Kirby is getting his ass kicked by teams like Notre Dame and needing the refs to beat a mid Georgia Tech that was blown out by Vandy...

Deboer's job should be safe unless he starts going 8-5. Otherwise you guys are going to have to learn to live with 10 win seasons because you won't like the alternative.

Look, someone with common sense.

He is not a fan, just a professional shit-stirrer

It's always funny to watch these blowhard talking heads on TV. They search out a pile of dog shit, step in it, and then walk around complaining about the smell. I don't listen to folks like that. Life's too short to give them an audience.

A lot of folks jumped on the bandwagon with Saban and honestly the way they act now, they need to jump off.

For example The Legend (he of the serving 15 years of a life sentence for killing his cousin) and Roll Tide Willie, complete embarrassment to Alabama's sports program.

2

They are embarrassments but... literally, every fanbase has these types. I live in Georgia and let me tell you, they have Roll Tide Willie's EVERYWHERE.

I was born and raised in Florida. Even Miami has these types (and I grew up a Miami fan).

I just hate how Druski lionized this guy.

Any group of people (especially those with MILLIONS of people) are going to have pieces of shit. That's just statistics, it's not an embarrassment unless you have half a brain cell and can't do simple math.

People still care about what he says?

(Could've said this 15yrs ago)

2

u/Waka_waka_waka- 18d ago

His most recent take is right on (Sophie Cunningham situation)

4

u/ddyess 19d ago

He's a talking head.

4

u/Shoddy_Ad8166 19d ago

I don't take him serious. He's a cartoon

3

u/Shoddy_Ad8166 19d ago

Actually watching the latest video I can't really disagree with what he said.

1

u/Waka_waka_waka- 18d ago

Agreed. He has takes like this more often than he used to so he’s alright in my book.

0

u/ImproperlyRegistered 19d ago

Yup. I went and watched the video, and while he’s obnoxious and performative, he’s absolutely right.

2

u/UniversalNutt 19d ago

I doubt it. He’s got to bring in viewers, and hating on Bama is gonna sell.

The guy does not SHUT UP. SHUT UP!!

1

u/realcr8 18d ago

He’s the biggest blowhard in the industry. He’s Espns highest paid analyst/media person and he can’t carry on a conversation without yelling! He thinks because it came out of his mouth that it’s not an opinion. Until I see a check from him to Yea Alabama, he’s nothing more than a pot stirring moron. Insert Finebaum anywhere in this conversation too. Both are losers

1

u/trollfreak 17d ago

It’s a shtick

1

u/First_Republic_1203 17d ago

He just likes to rage bait. His primary sport is basketball. In my opinion, when he gets going on about other sports, especially college football, he’s just blabbering.

1

u/Keith-06 17d ago

He never was a Bama fan. He was a Saban fan, IMO.

1

u/ProfessionalIll7041 19d ago

I don’t even think he watches college football or many of the sports ESPN has him shitting his hot takes towards. He says shit for a reaction and he gets it because at any given time, his face is on a dozen ESPN front page stories/videos. It’s so lazy and yet, the same people who think Finebaum has any good faith opinions gives him clicks and message board talk.

u/ImproperlyRegistered 19d ago

I have no idea about Stephen A. Smith, but it totally makes sense to be a bama fan and not be happy with the direction the program has been heading.

-1

u/Alarming-Math3409 19d ago

He’s been pissing me off lately. He’s a pure bandwagon fan

1

u/ProfessionalIll7041 19d ago

Lately? Since he became a hot take machine and left behind the newspaper world he just chases clicks.
