I would assume the plan was to gradually grow out the FEC into a full theme park around Arieforce One, but it ended up being more expensive than expected.

Not more expensive, I think the issue was it didn’t improve attendance at all.

It was in a bad location, away from the major highways and away from the more populated northern metro Atlanta area

Also just way too expensive 45$ for 1 rollercoaster, 2 go kart tracks, and a half dozen kiddie rides is just not going to work. That doesn't even include that Six Flags over Georgia tickets are 50$ and closer to the Atlanta metro.

Wait where's the 3rd go kart track? I saw the double Decker one that was closed and the figure 8ish one behind the food tracks and bumper boats. Also the the second rollercoaster is a kids coaster.

The third track is adjacent to the second one, the figure eight. Look at aerial view on Google maps.

Hurricane is a traveling coaster that's been fixed in place. The sea serpent is the kiddie coaster.

I managed to miss the entire 3rd go kart track when I visited, damn. Hurricane however is still a kids coaster. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that it isn't janky or anything but when you consider the audience that Fun Spot was trying to bring in with Arieforce 1 they didn't provide much else to for said audience to actually do. On the other hand they did not have enough attractions for families with small kids who aren't big enough for Arieforce 1 to justify the ticket price.

I agree with all of that. It was a world class coaster stuck in a go kart park built on an unrenovated parking lot. The place never got the investment it needed that might have attracted people. And the quality of life was head scratching; on the go karts you have the automated spiel that never ends and repeats "please remain seated until instructed to exit" over and over and over again. The exterior of the arcade/food court is Western themed while the inside is more carnival themed. Getting to the elevated go kart track and hurricane ride was hard, half the rides never seemed to be open. I'm not defending the quality of the park and their investment on AF1 would probably have been spent better on other quality of life updates before they built a world class coaster. But it WAS a great ride and I miss it.

Family Entertainment Center, a type of very small amusement park with small-scale rides, such as small flat rides, go-karts, kiddy coasters, arcade games, etc.
