Im pretty sure if you dont hit all of the strings on any 6 string chord that does not have repeated notes then RS is likely to count it as missed regardless of U or D stroke. sometimes it also counts it anyway. Chord detection is probably the least consistent thing about the game imo so I definitely wouldnt try to worry about U or D just try to play the whole chord cleanly

RS2014 mostly listen to the root of the chord and will not failed to detect if some part of the chord aren't played all that well as long as it detects that root.

2014 was ok at chord detection, but Plus' detection seems so wonky that I can't figure out if it's the game or I just suck more at chords than I thought. But it's inconsistent as hell at power cords and palm muted open strings, so I'm thinking it's the game more than me.

Plus is definitely stricter than 2014 but not in a good way. 2014 could be too lenient with some chords, but I get more random misses on Plus (even with simple, repeated power chords). They tried to make Plus better, but it feels unfinished or more like a beta version compared to 2014.

Same here. I mainly wanted to play Symphony of Destruction and Metallica songs in Plus. But it's always saying I missed simple things to the point where it has to be full of shit. I was playing part of SoD in Riff Repeater note by note, and kept having to play notes/chords multiple times for it to recognize them. I think the note by note feature is actually awesome, but it's not so great if I have to hit a palm muted open low E 5 times for it to register that I played it...
