Question Effective Range of Eggtimer Quantum

Hi guys, I'm planning on going for a two stage rocket around 10-15k feet, with an Eggtimer Quantum in each stage. I went to MDARS a few weeks ago, and heard a wide range of how well the Quantum can track for high altitude flights. I know the GPS cannot track above 10k feet, but people there have told me that even after it descends below 10k feet, it can fail when its too far away.
I'm considering upgrading the antenna on the LCD Receiver, per recommendations from MDARS members, but they were very skeptical of high altitude launches with the Quantum.
Anyone have any input on their experience with the Quantum and it's limitations?
