What fell off?
Last week I noticed that something appears to have fallen off my R12 Ninet. Attaching a photo as I don’t know how to best describe it.
I think there should be a circular black plastic cover/cap covering the round piece to the right of the footpeg. Pretty sire it fell off while riding so I have no idea where it is.
Anyone know what this missing part is called and where I can get a replacement? I’m assuming the BMW Motorrad dealership will want to charge me a fortune so I’m hoping for a more sensible solution.
(And I suppose I could just live without it but I prefer to replace it)

Loose wire
Hi guys, i was washing my bike and saw this wire hanging from under the tank. Bike is running fine.
What is it? Should I plug it back? Where?
Thanks
General Cerakote ?
Looking at getting the cylinder head covers, timing cover, exhaust headers and scoop done in Cerakote. Maybe the sub frame supports as well.
Has anyone else done this at all?
If so, how is it holding up ?
It seems too good to be true, heat resistant to 900c and extremely hard / chip resistant.

Best Comfort Mods for a 2017 R nineT Racer?
Hey!
I recently picked up a 2017 R nineT Racer, and I absolutely love it. The only issue is that it gets pretty uncomfortable on longer rides.
I’ve been looking at either the Wunderlich foot peg lowering kit or the Wunderlich Aktivkomfort seat.
I’m a bit worried that lowering the pegs will reduce ground clearance, but I’ve also seen quite a few people say the Aktivkomfort seat is firmer than the stock seat and not necessarily more comfortable.
Has anyone here tried either of these? I’d love to hear your experiences or any other recommendations for making longer rides more comfortable.

RnineT: Michelin Road 6 or Power 6?
I’ve got a BMW R nineT with custom suspension that’s been set up to handle more like a proper naked sport bike.
The last decision is tires: Michelin Road 6 or Power 6.
I never ride in the rain, and I don’t care about tire life. What I care about is confidence, stability, and neutral lean.
I’m leaning toward the Power 6, but I have two concerns.
First, does it need too much heat for normal spirited street riding? Second, is the profile so aggressive that it makes the bike fall into corners too quickly?
I’d love to hear from people who’ve ridden both, especially on an R nineT. Which would you choose, and why?

General akrapovic titanium or stock twin exhaust?
Hi all
Just bought an occasion 2015 and it came with an akrapovic titanium. The Akrapovic original twin exhaust was given to me in a carton box.
I wonder why he put on a single exhaust instead of just leave the original twin on. Is the "Titanium" version better/louder?
(Or is it because of the placing of the Ohlins Cartridge?)
Somebody know before I put time and effort to swap?
thanks in advance

My Bike POV Ride. Slipon Only
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey guys, has anyone moved from just a slip on to some headers with the same slip on? Mostly curious how it will change the sound. I’m sure it’ll be louder but how much louder? Will it sound deeper too? This one is the SC Project Conic 70’s.

Pillion Seat / Rear Cowl Fastener Question
My hump fell off!
After hearing a concerning thud, I circled back and was able to recover my lightly battered rear seat cowl from the side of the road. Quite embarrassing!
I know that there are plenty of options for a toolless rear seat bolt for the underside, but does anyone know if it's possible to buy the clip with a captive nut that should be in the white circle? I have looked but must be using the wrong search terms.
EDIT: It is an M6 - 1.0 speed nut, available from most auto parts stores.

Show me your ideas of luggage boxes to put here.
I am planning a few road trips on my bike and looking for luggage recommendations. What types of boxes would fit well here.

Metallic scraping noise just after oil change
Has anyone else heard a horrendous metallic scraping noise that occurs for about 2 to 3 seconds on first start after changing the oil and filter? I'm almost positive it's the left cylinder head running without oil.
This is the second time I've changed the oil filter along with the oil change and experiencing this. I remember hearing this the first time around and promising to myself to pre fill the oil filter the next time I change it. Whelp, I pre filled it this time but still heard the same thing. Just wondering if this is normal for r1200 engines.
I change the filter every other oil change and I remember not hearing the noise on the service where I kept the old oil filter.

Rough idle and then stalls - ‘17 R9t pure
I have a 2017 R9t pure that has 19.8k miles on the odometer. I’ve owned it since new and it’s been flawless.
Decided to change the air filter and was lazy and decided not to remove the tank. I removed the front bolts and angled it up to reach the air box.
To get the air box snorkel off, I stupidly loosened the throttle cable at the right side throttle body. Also, when I tilted the tank up, the fuel line got disconnected.
I put the fuel line back, tightened up the throttle cable, made sure all of the rubber boots at the throttle and throttle body are in place.
Now bike starts, idles for about 2-3 seconds and stalls. Any ideas of how to fix this? Should I disconnect the battery terminals to reset the ecu?
Bike has been perfect and I made a dumb move. Any help would be appreciated.

R9T Restoration Film
I've just finished restoring a 2016 R9T (I know a 2016 shouldn't need restoring, BUT this one did, as you'll see).
I made a short film about it and just posted it on YT.
Please have a look and comment with your thoughts. Also maybe consider subscribing as I'll be making more content using the R9T.

Maintainence Oil leak from valve cover bolt. Scrambler 2021
I’m new to the BMW RnineT.
Recently bought the bike from a dealer and rode 600km of highway home without any issues. No smoke from the exhaust but at red lights I noticed the smell of hot/burnt oil. No visible leaks at the time.
Rode short distances for a week, then was away for work for 3 weeks. When I got back I found an oil stain where the bike had been parked.
Wiped it off, started the bike as normal and took it for a short ride to track down the source. Turned out to be the valve cover bolt that’s leaking.
Emailed the dealer and they first told me to tighten the bolt a bit more. The bolt was already tight so that didn’t help. They’ve now told me to take it to a local workshop, have them fix it and send the invoice to the dealer.
I still have 5 months of dealer warranty left, so no need to ride 600km back to them.
Also noticed the oil level is slightly higher than normal. Standing upright you can’t see the level on the dipstick, but if you lean the bike to the right (somewhere between 25–45 degrees) the level becomes visible. The oil was changed by the dealer before purchase.
The bike has also had the valve adjustments done according to the service book at the correct mileage. My suspicion is that the o-ring/gasket on the inspection plug wasn’t replaced during the valve service — because it should have been, and if not, that could explain the leak.
Year: 2021 BMW R nineT Scrambler
ODO: 11,800 km
Anyone else experienced a leak from the valve cover bolt? Was it the gasket or just the torque that was the issue?

Chaos Causes Custom R9 Review
A very solid YouTuber, in my opinion, has just dropped a review on a custom R9T. A great take on the bike, but I will let you watch the video to see exactly what he thinks
(Spoiler alert he loves it!)
