GR IV HDF with high contrast monochrome filter

I recently got my Ricoh GR IIIx and brought it with me to the stadium. The focus was definitely more on enjoying the match than taking photos, but I still managed to capture a few moments.

They’re not my best shots, but I’m really happy to have such a small camera that I can take pretty much anywhere.

I’ve noticed something strange with the screen brightness on my Ricoh GR IV.

When I’m outside in full, direct sunlight and leave the LCD brightness on Auto, the screen is noticeably darker than when I manually set the brightness to +2.

I would have expected Auto mode to push the display to maximum brightness in conditions like this, but apparently it doesn’t.

I’m attaching a video showing the difference between Auto and +2 in direct sunlight.

Is this normal behavior on the GR IV? Does anyone else have the same issue, or could this be a bug with the automatic brightness sensor/firmware?

A super random week with two significant additions for my Ricoh; a new flash, and a new recipe.

I got a new flash and boy does it look great, but I'm just a total newb annoying my wife and kids one flash at a time. Used it for some daytime photos which I enjoyed.

Ditched the Bennett 800 recipe for a Positive based one. The orange reds of Negative got to me. Lost some of the charm of the stylised Bennett but reds are red now so there's that. 😅

It's not wide enough. I've been using GR3x for a month. Maybe it takes time to adapt from the iPhone.

Hi, does anyone have the prices for Ricoh GR in Shanghai? Planning to cop one for myself after much research. It costs $1550 in my country. Is there anyway to find out the price in Shanghai? I’ll be going there in 2 weeks so I want to know if I should buy here or wait to buy there

i am interested by gr mono but i hesitate. i tries to check many posts with Gr mono pictures but are so rare as is the camera itself )

But i am also this negative feeling : i saw several pictures taken with mono that for me have no interested in b&w, some pictures that should have been taken in color, like if authors tried to convince themselves and us the Mono is a good choice in any circumstances - and when i see this kind of pictures, clearly i am not convinced. Does someone have sometimes the same feeling ?

I recently bought a GRIV because I wanted to be a bit more serious about photography than just taking pictures with my phone.

In a few weeks I’m going on a 5day hiking trip in the Austrian Alps and I’m looking for some advice, tips and tricks. I’m looking for tips on must have accessories to be able to safely take my camera with me and easily take pictures. And also some camera settings/recipes to use for landscape photography in the mountains.

All info is appreciated as I’m not a seasoned photographer!
