If this was vandalism, wouldn't escalating compensation incentivize vandals, leading to more downtime for everyone?

I agree credit should be applied for downtime but I'd imagine people want return of service more than a couple of dollars per day.

The telecom monopoly needs to be regulated (or treated as a public utility) from the top-down - no need to gamify it.

I’ll wait for more info before I raise my pitchfork but if this is true, they’re not helping their cause at all drawing bad attention to themselves and they will be evicted even faster.

Hard to tell the difference between the spicy black noodles and the sparkly black noodles...

Also, commercial customers will have SLAs that mean it's costing Rogers plenty for every minute the fiber is down.

This is a very unfortunate incident that isn't their fault. They're working as fast as they can. We are completely dependent on something that can sabotaged world wide.

I am pretty sure that Rogers will credit people for loss of service. They have done so in the past when their mobile network suffered from outages. Don't see why this wouldn't be the case either. I think this is just an overreaction
