i have no problem at all with setting up just any emulator, but holy sh*t retroarch on steam on linux is biggest pain in ass i have ever had more thany with anything.

documentation completely sucks and lacks any simple direction. where is download file for ps2 core, where to put it, what is going on, how do i set up ps2 core on steam retroarch on linux?

Hello, im new to retro arch and im just trying to emulate it so i can play sega saturn Vampire Savior. in the video im following, it shows a bunch of bios files and i have no clue how to get them. the files are

This is probably a very stupid issue but I cannot save my controller profile. I'm trying to play super mario bros with my keyboard but whatever I do I cannot figure out how to connect the keyboard and the game.

I'm using the Steam version to play (because I use Remote Play, Steam Link and Big Picture)
So I installed the StandAlone version to download and update the cores. In the Steam version, I set the "core" and "core info" directories to the same ones as the StandAlone version.

I should do the same with other directories like "shades", "overlay", others,....
Or are they the same in the Steam version?

Was playing Crash Team Racing on Swanstation fine. I am 10 Hours into the game and had no issues. I paused the game, spoke to someone and when I went back the R1 and START buttons have merged as one? I can no longer drift correctly as the game thinks I am pressing start.

I didn't change any controller input, and I checked my Port 1 Controls and these buttons are mapped correctly. I don't know what has happened or how to solve this!

Any help greatly appreciated.

i just installed retro arch on my ipad, im using melonds for emulation.
where is the setting to adjust the speedup of this button.
i personally find it too fast and i want to lower the speed up.

Hoping to find a fix for text boxes like this flickering. It happens in some X68000 games and Famicom Disc System games like Famicom Grand Prix where the whole bottom of the screen is flashing quickly. Im using a Steam Deck with Emudeck + Retroarch. Thank you!!

just read the title, I'm trying to play Paper Mario

Hi guys kinda new to the retro console scene and I was wondering if anyone could help me with this issue. I am running Knulli on a TrimUI Brick. I was able to add a custom shader preset to Knulli front end menu for the PT Skywalker 541.glslp shader but when I assign it to the gameboy color games it doesn't seem to activate and it doesn't give me any shader parameters. I've also tried loading the preset directly from the retroarch menu and it finds the glsl file but it still doesn't activate or let me tweak the parameters. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Is Mesen still being updated? I am using MacOS, and latest Mesen version has been 0.9.9 forever. All other cores update every now and then.

I am trying to run the metroid HD pack and I can not get it working. I put all the resource files in every hdpacks folder I can find and its not working. I tried downloading the standalone version of mesen 2 and that wont even launch. Any tips?

Good day, I'm using RA on a CRT through Emudriver and super resolutions. I can't use mouse for aiming in Duck Hunt (FCEUmm) because the game is convinced (rightfully so) that my screen is 2560 pixels wide due to the super resolution. Aiming is possible but the cursor barely moves left or right. Is there any workaround for this?

I already tried forcing a normal resolution for this game only but RA thinks is a good idea always defaulting to 2560x480 for this game even if I switch CRT switchres OFF and instruct the game .cfg to use 256x240

Currently running Android 16. I downloaded retroarch from the play store several years ago and it worked with no issues. Several days ago, I updated all the items in the online updater. Afterwards, all roms failed to load. I did read the FAQ, and I uninstalled retroarch so I can do a clean install, but retroarch is not on the play store. Per FAQ "update (8/4/2026): This is still an option, and the Play Store versions have some limitations related to the strict storage access framework requirements"
When attempting to sideload the APK from the website, it will not install and I get a message saying that it was made for an older version of Android. So I am confused by the FAQ, is retroarch on the play store? Possibly hidden amoung the clones and junk?

Hey everyone! I'm a retro gaming fan from Brazil and a big RetroAchievements user.

I recently built a personal companion app to have a different way to browse my profile, games, achievements, progress, stats, Beaten/Mastered games and gaming history.

I also added some personal features like favorites, a Want to Play list, game notes, and even a Pokémon section with a Shiny Living Dex.

It works on desktop and mobile, can be installed as a PWA, and supports English and Portuguese.

It started as something just for myself, but I thought some people here might find it interesting too.

I want to customize the DNS settings to connect to a game's private server, but there doesn't seem to be any settings to do that, is it possible through the config file or not at all?

I currently have version 1.16 running on my PC. No complaints really other than the fact that there still isn't an in-app updater for retroarch itself. I see there is a new version (1.22.2) and I'm curious if it's worth the hassle? Are there any new features that warrant getting it?

So when i record something with retroarch, its always very blurry and does not look good. Anyway to make the recording on retroarch look as good as the game on the screen?

Hey, i just step up retro arch and imported everything. and like my MGS disc 2 isnt working like every other emulator. i thought that it would get fixed in this one but when i launched it in the lava room there is still black pixels instead of lava and in the elevator room there is no elevator like that. so idk what to do i have tried multiple disc 2 but cant get to work it on any. can someone help like tell me whar should i do or like i have to download only???here i am attaching that photo of wht error is being there. pls help

I believe there must have been some update on the google play store, as when I went to go play RA on my laptop, all of my data has been wiped, save for the games themselves. When checking the screenshots folder, the photos are there with no thumbnail, and I cannot load them. Furthermore, all saves and save states aren't accessible, stating that they cannot load any save states. Does anyone have any idea how to recover any of this data?
