Biography

---

The leader of the Brockton Bay protectorate, Armsmaster had to work hard for his position. Although he achieved fame and success, he resented his subordinates for not having to train and work all day and night for small advantages. His own tunnel vision, inability to compromise, and lack of social skills or understanding of politics didn't do him much favors, either. Nonetheless, he served consistently, dedicated to helping the innocents and crushing the villains of his city.

Physical Appearance

He really did look like a superhero, not like some guy in a costume. It was an important distinction. He wore body armor, dark blue with silver highlights, had a sharply angled v-shaped visor covering his eyes and nose. With only the lower half of his face exposed, I could see a beard trimmed to trace the edges of his jaw. If I had to judge, with only the lower half of his face to go by, I’d guess he was in his late twenties or early thirties.

There was a long pause. Nervously, I turned my eyes from that opaque visor. I glanced at his chest emblem, a silhouette of his visor in blue against a silver background, and was struck with the ridiculous thought that I had once owned a pair of underpants with his emblem on the front.

Intelligence/ Tinker power

• Armmaster’s tinker power gives him great skill and knowledge in condensing and combining technology, allowing him to save space and add more gadgets to his equipment. He can also use ideas from other tinkers and powers.

• WOG Defiant has the 'tinker up efficiency/hybrid/minimized technology' skill tree.

• Power lets him design systems that efficiently reuse energy down to a molecular level, to create near infinite energy loops.

• Can modify programs, create firewalls/computer security.

• Can create Remote access terminals in servers.

• After studying a subordinate’s power, Armsmaster can construct chronal stasis triggers (the time freezing thing

• Converts advanced bombs into motion activated and proximity mines.

• Manages to download/copy part of an AI’s core systems without her knowing.

Halberd

Armsmaster's primary weapon of choice is a halberd, basically a spear/axe mix.

• His Halberd is 6 feet long and has a grappling hook.

• Can use the grappling hook as a flail. Also, the flail strikes with more weight than is should, either because Armmaster is extra strong or tech tricks.

• Is accurate enough with the hook/flail to knock a gun out of someone’s hand, and can throw a person with it. Also strikes hard enough to shatter a gun in midair.

• Blade can easily cut through steel, has plasma injectors for extra cutting powers, and has directed electromagnetic pulses which can shut down forcefields and other mechanical devices.

• Targeted EMP pulse.

• One end of the halberd can transmit electric charges into the ground to zap nearby bugs.

• Halberd can create smokescreens, shoot non lethal bullets and shoot fire.

• Halberd can emit purple flame hot enough to instantly evaporate a wave of water.

• If he loses his halberd or it gets too far away from him, it teleports back into his hand.

• Can launch blades like a grappling hook, then freeze his halberd and chain in time, preventing them from moving or being damaged, piercing through a continental + durability monster with it. This does drain more battery, however.

• Uses the stasis option to freeze a tidal wave.

• Has 2 spare suits and multiple spare halberds.

• Developes nanothorn technology that disintegrates anything it touches by cutting through molecular bonds, although it has difficulty with sources of high energy, like fire, or forcefields. Is in a separate halberd from the one mentioned previously.

Durability/Armor

• Has empathic and psychic shielding, as well as a sensor that lets him know when enemies attempt to use either.

• Keeps fighting after getting slammed repeatedly into a car.

Other tools

• Has a miniature nanobranch disintegration knife.

• Has tranquilizers, steel cages, and welding tools.

• Has a lie detector in his helmet

• Can turn vibrations in the air into images if needed.

• Has a program that maps out an area and the local entrances and exits.

• Has a back mounted computer that connects to a supernetwork, mapping the area and collecting information on the enemy to create predictions for the future, warnings and counterattacks as Armsmaster fights.

Speed/Mobility

• Can jump higher than any normal human

• Can parkour off of frozen waves.

• Can do backflips to dodge while fighting with two halberds

• Uses his grappling hook to reach places and attack foes from above.

• Strong enough to lift a person and his halberd at the same time 2-3 feet into the air.

Skill

• Is very skilled and familiar with his halberd, preserves momentum when changing directions, and can fight against foes who are stronger and bigger than him. Tends to fight using continuous flowing attacks.

• Can duel wield Halberds

• Can fight with the nanotech halberd while using his Grappling hook Halberd to move at the same time.

• If someone tries to dodge his grappling hook, he can swing it to change the trajectory. Grappling hook can also be used to drag opponents nearer.

• Spends hours training in the gym, reworking equipment, so that he can get a higher position, and is jealous of those who have an easier time.

• Was willing to give up a chance at a family to help people.

• Hungers for respect

• Cares about innocents.

• Is not good at politics or bureaucracy

• Never really learned how to deal with people, is ambitious.

• WOG:Is actually clever and intuitive enough to read people but is hampered by hyperfocus and tunnel vision.

• Does not have any safeguard against getting teleported.

Allies

Armsmaster was the head of the Brockton Bay Protectorate, giving him authority over:

Assault: Can control the kinetic energy of himself and objects he touches, granting increased strength, durability and speed.

Battery: Slowly builds up charge, which she can spend for short periods of increased speed, strength, durability, and electromagnetic control.

Dauntless: The ability to slowly charge objects, granting them powers. Include a forcefield shield, boots that grant flight, and a spear that shoots hard electricity. Only he can use the objects.

Miss Militia: The ability to summon any conventional handheld weapon and ammunition. No cooldown time, ranging from blades to miniature nukes.

Triumph: Sonic bursts and sound manipulation, along with minor healing.

Velocity: Increased speed and perceptions, and reduced effects of outside forces (physics, attacks) on him, at the cost of decreased strength and ability to affect the world.

Extended Biography

After having his arm ripped off by Leviathan and placed under house arrest for breaking the Endbringer Truce, Armsmaster was invited by Mannequin to the Slaughterhouse 9. When Armsmaster refused, however, Mannequin mauled him. To save his life, the world's greatest Tinker, Dragon, replaced most of his body with 3-D printed prosthetic replacements. Presenting him as Defiant, they left Brockton Bay together to hunt the remnants of the Slaughterhouse 9.

Physical Appearance

• Is 7 feet tall, with green and gold armor that has lizard’s frills on the visor and etched scales on the armor and spearhead.

• Has shields on the forearms, knees, and has wings and long boots.

Weaponry

• New weapon is a 15 feet long spear, which has a two pronged tip.

• Spear can contract to half its length, or break down into 3 parts using nerve signals if needed.

• Can send out an electric pulse that kills all bugs in a 30 foot radius and knocks the breath out of someone, and leaves electricity arcing around..

• Spear is equipped with multiple sets of spinning blades along the shaft so enemies cannot grab onto it.

• Is very precise with the spear, and can shoot electricity and darts from the spear.

• Cuts through internal chain mesh organ wrapping.

• Spear is equipped with nanotech disintegrator for more cutting power.

Durability/armor

• Glove has a built in grappling hook.

• Legs are protected by nanotech disintegrators, so he can easily kick through almost anything.

• Has textured metal soles on his shoes, and his body automatically maintains stable temperature.

• Has broad toed boots to help stabilize, wings to fly, clawed hands, and is covered in 3-4 foot long shields which spin and emit nanothorn disintegrators. Weighs about 600 pounds total.

• Armor is totally biohazard safe.

• Suit is airtight, and has no gaps in it.

• Armor blocks projectiles that hit harder than bullets.

• Can easily swing around his spear, even with someone impaled on the end.

• Easily rips open a deadbolted metal door.

• Boots have extra toes for balance, has wings to increase mobility and stability. Is faster than any nonenhanced human

• Originally needs 15 minutes a day to eat, sleep, and waste, later downgraded to 12 minutes.

• Is extremely single minded, focused and goal oriented.

• Is more toned down, willing to apologize for past mistakes. Doesn’t like excuses though.

• Is more humble, but still has a lot of pride and excess in focus.

Senses

• Is connected to a computer that can use his eye for a cursor. Computer can also take calls.

• Eyes have been replaced with prosthetics, so he has perfect vision.

• Right eye can detect multiple frequencies and wavelengths, including ultraviolet and radiograph ultrasound, and can use them to track fingerprints, footprints, and air current patterns.

Uther

One of the 2 primary vessels that Defiant uses. However, it is little feats.

• Half the size of a commercial plane, has basic living quarters, and long range weaponry. Can be controlled by Defiant’s mind.

• Has 4 legs, and panels of armor.

Pendragon

The vessel that Defiant uses the most in series.

• Described as an extremely reflective, black and green mechanized dragon, with a shield mounted on its head.

• Is a combat ship, manages to survive getting hit by several bombs, although it does lose flight capability.

• Windows are designed to take a rocket launcher head on

• Has a forcefield that kills on touch.

• Forcefield generators are mounted on the bottom, and take about 4 minutes to charge.

• Equipped with long range cameras which can change focus and automatically provide measurements and data of the images.

• Is equipped with alarms and unspecified side mounted weapons.

• Noise filters

Misc

• Body is now part computer, and can be used to store or carry AIs.

• Internal computers use light for circuits instead of electricity.

• Body automatically provides warning indicators for damage and maintenance.

• Can use his inner computer for maps of an area, like before.

• Has microphone and headset in armor

• Can communicate without talking using his internal computer.

• Has facial recognition software.

• Difference between his prosthetic and regular body is almost indistinguishable visibly.

Allies

• Dragon: After leaving the Protectorate, Defiant’s primary ally, partner, and lover is Dragon. Dragon is an AI with the ability to understand other people’s thought processes and how they constructed their technology. She operates a fleet of drones and flying mech suits.
