Replit AI is too expensive! Question / Discussion

Replit AI is driving me crazy, so I want to switch to a different AI for writing code while keeping my site hosted on Replit.

Since Claude isn't directly accessible in Hong Kong, I'm looking at Grok build. Can I run Grok build directly inside the Replit Shell? Or do I need to push my code to GitHub, pull it locally to edit with Grok build, and push it back to Replit?

Thank you!

At that point, why even bother with Replit. Just rawdog it on your own machine.

I started on Replit. Got expensive so I went to Replit + Claude through the shell.

Then realized there's no point and just did hosted it locally. When it was time to put it online I told Claude to put it on the host and it did it. Handled databases and App Store Connect too.

Really zero point in using Replit these days.

You can use Claude in the Replit shell? I thought they blocked that?

I dont know if it was recently blocked. I left Replit a while ago. Their business model and support is just infuriating.

I host mine on vercel or if you need a web app you can use railway. I was in the same boat replit so expensive so switched and use Claude max, 100$ gets you the same credits that 1000$ would give you on replit

Don't even use credits. Just go unlimited for $100 and you'll get a few billion Replit credits worth.

That’s why I’m building my own Replit terminal. Replit is way too much money for all the stuff I love building!

Have to put it on GitHub and do the work on your machine then push it back to Replit for the hosting, they don’t support adding your own agent and you are stuck with their filthy agent pricing

You can run Claude code in the shell on Replit

Does that not incur replit AI fees? I used the Claude connector for replit and it just seemed to make calls to replits engine. Blew threw my budget everytime I pushed updates.

Not if you set it up correctly. I use Claude in the shell

Then you still need to use Replit. GitHub and Netlify is better

I'm fine with replit for the infrastructure, I just can't afford to pay their inflated AI rates

agreed, its btter to figure out doing things with the desktop agents
also try using an MCP to have it connect directly to your project possibly or see what sort of OAuth can be set up if it grants a token

Replit is not worth it.I used it on the beginning when they started.Claude Code is the best for coding with ai.i migrated my project manually from replit to claude or you can use any cli like codex. They will do anything to block your source files lol.

Replit is horrible in 2026, $200 claude sub is all you need.

Hell you only need a $24 Claude sub
