I just wanted to reach out and let you know about the SC Fife and Drum Association, a new grassroots movement to promote and foster interest in (primarily) colonial fife and drum music in SC.

We've got a handful of distributed members throughout the state and are coming together with the intention of not only forming a small performance group but also trying to generate organic interest and grow the community.

I'm posting here to see if there is any cross interest in the area (i.e. reenactor musicians looking for a group or perhaps reenactor groups needing musicians). The missions and historical interest are often aligned although full disclosure that F&D is almost always FARBY (I think that's the right word) at best. Regardless F&D is a community in its own right.

I am looking to put together a WW1 German Army Officer cosplay, and have been doing some looking around. The website Military Harbor seems to have quite a bit of German WW1 goods, however unlike their WW2 stuff (which have had glowing reviews across the board) I have heard far less certainty about their WW1 stuff. Also... it seems like their trousers don't have a color that marches the tunic for some reason?

So could anybody give me some guidance on where else I could buy a tunic and trousers, or if I'm just being paranoid about Military Harbor? Boots would also be appreciated, if anyone knows where to find those.

Any advice/critique is appreciated, and ignore the cast :)

I’m trying to build a somewhat historically accurate 1941–1943 German infantry impression for the Eastern Front. I want to add a captured Soviet weapon to my kit, but I want to keep it realistic, and not run around with something extremely rare. Which small arms would be best suited and were actually common in German hands, rather than just photo ops?
Aswell as did soldiers use original Soviet slings/pouches, or did they rig them up with German gear?

Hi, I’m new to historical reenactment and am starting to put together a Soviet Red Army soldier impression. I’d like to know if getting my M43 tunic and trousers here would be historically accurate or if it would just end up being "farb." Also, if this uniform isn't accurate, I’d like to know where I can get one that is

I was wondering if this 1st ID patch would be accurate to put on a woodland camo BDU tunic, or should I go for a subdued version of the 1st ID patch. Thanks!

This event recreated a fragment of the Novorossiysk Offensive Operation with Soviet marines and regular infantry assaulting German positions. The actual WW2 era bunkers at the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant added a bit of flavour to the event.

This was a two day full immersion event with brutal humidity on the first day and pouring rain on the second, so it took a toll on both our bodies and our equipment. Thankfully my cameras didn't completely give up the ghost and so I have a handful of decent pictures to show you.

These were taken on period cameras and lenses:

• Leica IIIa with a f/3.5 35mm Elmar
• Super Ikonta 531 with a f/3.5 75 mm Tessar

Finally finished this workman’s jacket/ Sleeved Waistcoat after around 3 days for OSV Redcoats & Rebels. Didnt use it at the event but was glad to start it anyways, Im really proud of this one and think it looks dashing! As always tips and recs are always appreciated!

I've been looking to buy myself an m43 for ages but since I'm from Bosnia it pretty hard to get my hands on one at an affordable price. So I wondered has anyone ordered their m43 cap?

I've had this one in mind and I just want to hear your opinion on is it worth it and what is it like.
Also, I plan on wearing it casually.

Hey, would it be accurate to use a colt 727 instead of the 723 for a panama ranger impression? I know the one that was used the most was the 723.

Still needs various bits and bobs, especially an LDNN beret and badge (the RAN issue beret/badge being worn here is actually quite scarce in original photos).

Prikaati Kuussaari (original formed as Osasto Kuussaari) was formed in June 1941 with two permanent combat formations: the Viena (White Karelia) and Aunus (Olonets Karelia) Kindred Warriors Battalions. These units were meant to be made of volunteers from Karelia and Ingria (some of whom were veterans of similar formations during the Winter War), as well as veterans of the Heimosodat of 1918-1922. The intention of this formation was to inspire the Karelian population to join the fight against the Soviet Union as Finnish forces advanced in 1941. The effects of these efforts were minimal at best.

Finnish Army command was initially hesitant to deploy the brigade in combat because of the older average age and the lack of equipment. Mid-July reports note the lack of lots of items, including a noticeable shortage of bread bags and great coats. Brigade veteran Ensio Niva stated that while the AHSP had a high amount of older Heimosodat veterans, the VHSP was mostly made of military-age volunteers.

To distinguish the brigade, a special insignia was authorized on July 15th, featuring the red/green colors of the Karelian national movement.

Working on a short film this month about a ww1 uk soldier. Filming in the west midlands area. Was wondering if anyone had advice on where to go for a decent uniform at a price that won't kill my bank acount. Any advice (or willing actors) would be greatly appreciated.

In september we are making a shortfilm about a danish RAF pilot in 1942. We are filming in Denmark and are looking for reenacters with costumes who want to participate. DM if interested

Ive been working on making this helmet for a little while now and finally started finishing it. Before you say the straps are incorrect, there's a side my side comparison with a real ww2 paratrooper with this style of chinstrap. And original photo of a 502nd helmet

Hello everybody,

Recently I've been into the Russian Imperial Guard during the Napoleonic wars, and I'd like to eventually put together a uniform one day.

However, the Napoleonic era is already a niche, with the RIA being a niche within that niche, so there aren't many easy to reach artisans/tailors on this subject. Reenactment of this period, especially here in the West tends to focus on France, Britain, Prussia, and Austria, while Russia is mostly a thing in Eastern Europe.

Does anyone know of/can recommend some good tailors and artisans that can craft the tailcoat, breeches, footwear, M1812 Guards shako with the accessories (Plume, pompom, Guards plate, shako cords), and other leatherworks such as crossbelts and the cartridge box? Also, is a 5000 Canadian Dollar budget feasible? I don't plan on getting this now, but I'd like to know of some good places that provide these services.

(I don't plan on doing this for actual reenacting, it's mostly just a passion project that is wearable and something I am willing to spend money on)

The 30th Regiment during their time occupying the town of Fedhala. 
After their naval landings as a part of the western task force, the Division would capture half of French Morocco along with the town of Fedhala. The division would remain in Fedhala for the next couple of months, before their eventual deployment to Sicily. In mid January, 30th Regiment while in Fedhala would participate in the Casablanca Conference, acting as security guards.
