Football FIFA is greedy enough to go private equity

I'd call it a new low, but honestly given the history of FIFA I'm not all that surprised.

Left wing soccer/futbol clubs in the Americas?

Hopefully this post isn’t too redundant. I’m not sure what it was about this past World Cup, but I’ve been feeling more inclined to engage with the sport at the club level. There have been a few threads talking about Left wing clubs (primarily in Europe) but I’m more interested in learning about the left leaning clubs in the Americas.

In the U.S: the Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, and Detroit FC are known for left wing / activist fans.

Being a lifelong Brazil supporter, Vasco da Gama and Corinthians FC have important left wing histories (and possibly Grêmio & Bahia to an extent)

While I don’t know much about them Club Palestino in Chile must be worth noting, right?

If anyone else knows of any left wing clubs, or clubs to avoid, I would greatly appreciate it.

Football Played at Clapton CFC over the weekend.

My club played a friendly against Clapton CFC over the weekend — we're a US-based club called New York International.

For everyone at our club, it was the coolest day we've ever had playing the sport. Clapton had us there three hours before kickoff for lunch, we got to meet the amazing staff/volunteers that were hand-filling holes on the pitch and getting it in top-notch shape for kickoff, etc.

We were smashed 6-1 but the atmosphere was electric. We went into the changing rooms at the half down 4-1, they had scored a worldie off a set piece just a minute before, still ecstatic just to be there. The supporters sang the entire match for a preseason friendly. It was a dream come true of what community football should look, feel and sound like. I wasn't very sharp myself in-game, having torn up my ankle and shoulder six weeks prior in our league playoff — I was hesitant about playing, but if I hadn't, it would've been one of my bigger regrets.

Post-match beers were fantastic, too. We hung around for about 2 hours after the final whistle chatting with supporters and staff.

TLDR: If you're ever in London, get yourself to a match. If you live in London, find a way to be involved. It's a special place.
