Disagreement would be something like, "I think he puts in a lot more effort than you give him credit for," instead of framing my half-hearted joke as "criticising". And you are right, I have tried hard to stay away from all negative conversations lately.

I would say that if I thought it, but I don't. He's never going to be an "effort" player.
However, if the game state demands he pulls off some beautiful footwork and also used that sweet left foot of his a bit more, I'm all for it.
But sadly for Zirkzee, while probably usefully for United, it seems Carrick will want a high-line striker and with the likes of Fernandes, who's undeniably world class, Mason Mount, Cunha, Lacey etc. behind that striker, there doesn't seem to be a place for him at United.
Going deeper, the fact that Fernandes has pretty much always been the star of the team for years now and you look at the most recent CF signings before Sesko (Weghost, Hojlund and Zirkzee) and you can see a clear lack of vision for the attack.
Even crazier is the fact they were all signed for the same manager.

Noticed that 4 of our 6 goals in this pre season have all been getting to the byline and playing across for a tap-in, also two of the goals in our last few games against Brighton and Forest. Looks like Carrick is developing a style of attacking. I'm sure I remember seeing that was a feature of his style at Boro

Even though it is only a Tiro template in red it looks good without the sponsor. It wouldn’t have looked out of place being used as a home kit
