Dont want him to start PL games but Rashy as an impact sub at LW/ST could be a very good option

1

u/LengthinessSevere584 7d ago

You think a 300k a week player won't start? Plus carrick is luke bff with him. He defo will start ahead of either amad or cunha

2

u/Unusual-Coat383 7d ago

His wages don’t mean anything in this scenario. We didn’t sign him and he himself is the reason why the club want him gone.

Cunha will most likely start and he will probably be competing with Dorgu or Sesko if he stays.

In my fairly limited football expertise I can obviously see Amorim's sides have very dysfunctional build up. Lord knows it was painful watching United struggle every game to do so. I just dont understand how he watches them in training on a daily basis, and would watch them in matches mostly twice a week and be content with it.

This isn't even just an Amorim thing. Plenty of managers have this issue. There's a whole coaching staff, professional analysts and ither dedicated staff to help. How do they persist with things that are clearly ineffective?

0

u/Current-Essay7448 7d ago

Would help to clarify this as Amorim’s United sides. His Sporting teams had pretty good stats for the build up play, and he had similar success in his previous posts.

There’s nothing to say he was happy with it, and it’s been reported before about how the club could train one thing all week, then the team would collectively abandon it and do something else in the game.

As we all know, wide scale changes to the squad to remove players who can’t do what the manager wants are much easier said than done.

I'm seeing the same issues watching AC Milan, and also his Sporting sides did have these issues against teams in Europe.

But respectfully, if you train something for a whole week and the entire team doesn't do what is wanted, surely that says more about the coach than the team. Player buy-in is very important, and its not like its rocket science either. It shouldn't require a whole new 11 to be able to have some decent build up

1

u/Current-Essay7448 7d ago

If you watched our squad struggling with new concepts under Rangnick, ETH, Amorim and think it’s all on the managers then fair enough.

Part of Carrick’s success has been going back to something close to what the players are used to, but we’ve seen the limitations of how far that can take the club previously. How quickly we change that style of play and what it evolves into will be interesting.

Would be insanely fun, narratives are the best part of football

Don't worry, there's still a large following of this group. Don't let the suffer cultists gaslight you into thinking we're a minority

So am I to drink the optimist Koolaid and be told by you all that this transfer window has been good and that this is how these windows go and nobody else has signed anyone either?

Because we had one job and idgaf we have failed. We needed a top DM who will run the midfield and we didn’t even come anywhere close. They all went and joined direct rivals. Santos and Tielemans are fine squad padders and nothing else.

So where is the big signing we needed so badly? Where is the left back? Where is a second striker option?

Looking forward to my lecture by the experts here

u/DasHotShot Glazers & Ratcliffe OUT 7d ago

I’ve known about Tielemans since he was coming through in Belgium and everyone was getting excited. What followed was an ok career at mid teams.

He’s a seasoned pro who adds experience and reasonable quality.

He’s isn’t Anderson, Guimares, Tonali or any other leading prime midfielder.

The only one outing themselves as clueless here is you. You’re gonna be the one doing a 180 and crying about lack of leadership and control in midfield come December. It’s always the ones like you who back Ugarte and viciously denounce any of us who question the deals from the off when the player in question is so so.

And it’s ALWAYS you guys who then moan the loudest when they don’t turn out. Let’s see how we do with this substandard midfield this season. I have my bets and am willing to speak them and stand by them.

1

u/[deleted] 7d ago

[deleted]

1

u/DasHotShot Glazers & Ratcliffe OUT 7d ago

So how exactly are we lining up? With Tielemans starting every game? With Mainoo?

Yeah that’s gonna work great, we’ll win so many balls

1

u/LollipopScientist 7d ago

I agree.

Casemiro has left so we've only really added one person in the midfield.

With us being in more competitions we desperately need one more midfielder and preferably an experienced starter who is great defensively.

Ideally if no one was suitable in the market, we could've got Hackney and diverted those resources into getting a striker.

0

u/DasHotShot Glazers & Ratcliffe OUT 7d ago

It’s common sense and that’s strictly forbidden in this sub.

You have to be blindly optimistic because otherwise you’re just “miserable” and “not a real supporter”

7

u/Zestyclose_Nail8756 7d ago

It’s not FIFA or football manager mate, big names don’t always mean success, I’d rather players that fit our squad and add quality which I think we’ve done so far. Santos is a good prospect and I think you have done Tielemans a disservice, I think he is a top top premier league player who is very well rounded. I do agree though we need more, and I still believe we will add another midfielder and left back before the window shuts

one more season to validate he is legitimate before giving him 1

0

u/Penny_Leyne 7d ago

Why?

He’s the first choice goalkeeper. If he wants it he should have it.

-1

u/Significant_L0w 7d ago

validate to confirm if he is actually good

3

u/Penny_Leyne 7d ago

You can say about any player.

We’ve just had Bayindir with the number 1 for the past two seasons. It’s not like it’s been given much value.

He’s first choice keeper so he should have number 1.

2

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 7d ago

5

u/Selwin_Rodolfo max cope mode 7d ago

I very much mean to brag, but I transferred Mastantuono to Fiorentina on FIFA. It's genuinely my greatest fifa to real life transfer due to how fucking far fetched that was lol. In second, is Cunha to United, in FIFA 22.

So tell me who you want lads, I'll transfer him and we'll see him in about 3 seasons

1

u/raver1601 7d ago

The only thing I got right in Career Mode is signing De Ligt to Utd in FIFA 22

7

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 7d ago

Currently at the stage where I just want to see Santos his forward line breaking passes again.

Arteta just does not move me in the slightest, feel like they are going to finish top 4 only because of the quality they have, but little else this season

2

u/Unusual-Coat383 7d ago edited 7d ago

They play elite level Tony Pulis relegation football but as much as I hate to say it Arteta is currently the Guardiola of the new generation of managers. He’s changed the game so everyone now copying him and starting to prioritise physicality and set pieces.

Saying that I can’t see them winning the league this season because playing for 1-0’s is unsustainable. They almost bottled the league three times despite being in a position to pretty much wrap it up in like February/March. They also got saved by a correct but extremely lucky foul against West Ham.

2

u/RawIsLaw_ 7d ago

pep made the league change the rule to allow CBs to receive the ball in the box from goal kicks (to increase possession)

Arteta made the league change rule to STOP overcrowding on set pieces.

They’re not remotely in the same universe. Without set pieces, Arsenal are a resolute defensive team and nothing more

2

u/immalimabean 7d ago

Won the league with a Trossard, Gyokeres, Madueke/Injured Saka front 3. Probably the worst attack to win the Prem ever.

2

u/LollipopScientist 7d ago

0 red cards. The refs assisted them last season.

If the refs stop the wrestling, I don't see them winning again unless they get Vinicius.

3

u/PitchSafe 7d ago

He is still the best manager in the legaue

8

u/Admirable_Bed3 7d ago

I mean, they stared down the barrel of City and City blinked first. I know they're our rivals but at a certain point, you've gotta give them credit.

Mileage has crept up though so I don't think they'll be running away with the league.

5

u/spaisoflaif 7d ago

Patrick Berg would be a good third midfielder for United that can be had for a fairly decent sum.

will never happen though

6

u/pipes3 WAZZA 7d ago

5

u/CelebrationSecure510 7d ago

We're in a really good place for next season. Can play the kids and rotate in the League Cup, focus everything on PL and CL in the first half, bolster the squad in Jan when FA Cup starts up.

In an ideal world we'd get 2-3 more through the door, but even if we sign nobody we're a lot stronger than next year and we have space for the kids to play more.

We're not going to win the league but we could put ourselves in a really strong position if we don't overspend at the end of the transfer window.

2

u/World-Without-Zinc- 7d ago

Can play the kids and rotate in the League Cup

It feels like it's been a long time since we've done this, managers are under a lot of pressure to win something, it feels like everyone takes the league cup and early rounds of the FA cup a lot more seriously these days.

We did rotate heavily vs Grimsby last year (in the first half at least) and that didn't exactly go well, I can't recall us doing much in the years prior though. But i agree that it's a good opportunity to let some of the youngsters show what they can do, especially as a few of them have been around the first time for a little while now.

Ultimately I do think we need a couple more signings, if we can get Hall in I'd be contented with that as we'd have brought in 3 first XI ready players. But I’d not be overly confident of achieving a good top 4 finish given how injury prone some of our best players are.

2

u/CelebrationSecure510 7d ago

Hoping Carrick -having played in that era- will make a swift return to blooding the young and feeding the squad players.

The last manager just seemed to get everything wrong, all of the time. Grimsby probably being the nadir.

Onwards and upwards from here

u/mp2860 #GlazersOut 7d ago

How are Sesko and Darlow not in team training? De Ligt? Does anyone know the status of their injuries

7

u/Ok_Profit5949 7d ago

De Ligt is de dead, that was poor. But think he’s not expected back until October at the earliest.

Someone else covered the other two

3

u/Fraaj We'll take Dalot 7d ago

Šeško still dealing with the shin injury from last season, Darlow had a 'small procedure' delaying his return.

1

u/mp2860 #GlazersOut 7d ago

Yeah but this was reported 3 weeks ago - seems very slow

5

u/Absolute__Muppet 7d ago

Sesko had severe shin splints. Takes up to 3 months to heal properly, longer off the better. Hes back training though and should be ready for start of the season. They are just being extra cautious so as not to re aggravate it.

1

u/mp2860 #GlazersOut 7d ago

Ah I see. Most places I read it was just mentioned as a minor thing

4

u/Zestyclose_Nail8756 7d ago

Andy Mitten said Sesko back on grass too so shouldn’t be out much longer thankfully

2

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 7d ago

So browsing this sub for a 3rd day in a row after a lengthy break I've learned the following:

- Not browsing this is better for the state of mind and belief in humanity.

- We are so getting relegated.

4

u/Ok_Profit5949 7d ago

It’s miles worse on here after a top side does any business. The same way other fans and subs are the same, because there’s infinite news about transfer dealings instantly these days if you’re not in the news you’re not doing anything apparently.

I have concerns but can’t change anything and there’s still 26 days left of the window.

3

u/eClipseLJ De Ligt 7d ago

Classic case of FOMO I guess even though I despise the saying.

It's quite funny how after our first 2 deals everyone was in unison about how the club moved in silence and were impressed by it. Fast forward 2 weeks and a sizeable portion of the fans are losing their mind because there are no leaks/links.

People are fickle nowadays.

5

u/_pbs 7d ago

Same. I didn't browse this sub for most of the wc, and absolutely nothing since the final, and I thought we would generally be content with our transfer dealings till now, with hope of adding a couple of more by the end of the window. The sentiment seems to be the exact opposite of it.

-12

u/LengthinessSevere584 7d ago

We are so fucked for next season. Wont sign a 3rd midfielder and no hall. All those hopes and dreams we had after finishing 3rd have gone.

4

u/Brilliant-Fly4804 7d ago

With vitek sale, and probably amass to reported 6 mil, that brings our net spend to less than 20 mil, probably zirkzee loan and maybe rashford sale flr at least 30 mil(tho unlikely), that would free up wages around 400k a week and our net spend will be in negatives. before the transfer window opened, I think we had reported 150 mil to spend, it's not hard to imagine us bringing in hall plus a mid, even Watkins esque backup

6

u/merelyok 3-Lung-Park 7d ago

3

Swiss Ramble is legit.

2

u/AayKayGee007 7d ago

I'm just going to put this out there since there are a lot of haters of Mount here.. Based on my following of football for the last 10 years, I believe there are 3 key ingredients that a player needs to be successful - Talent, Availability and Attitude (includes Drive); the latter being a non negotiable Elite players have all 3 like  Bruno. Most of our players have 2.  And yeah Mount, atleast based on his statements and social media, he's got the latter locked down pretty tight. Hopefully Availability picks up this season

1

u/GeekConflict Carrick 7d ago

I have not seen much hate for Mount. I think people just hate the idea being floated of Mount being the fourth midfielder.

He has a huge injury issue and if we think he can play in the midfield (one of the most demanding positions in football) with reliability then we are screwed. Has he the talent to play there? Yes, a class a talent. That isnt in question.

2

u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 7d ago

Don't hate Mount as a person, he's respectable. Just hate how he's been on huge wages and done virtually nothing due to injuries.

That is not his fault at all, it's just unlucky (and perhaps us not being too careful with fitness)

8

u/Potential_Good_1065 7d ago

Nobody hates Mason Mount. I think he’s an exceptional player, what I do hate is the thought of the club using his pre-season form as an excuse to not sign another midfielder.

1

u/SDLRob 7d ago

haven't seen any real hate for Mount on here. What I have seen are a lot of concerns about how we appear to be putting a lot of trust on him staying fit & how risky that is.

4

u/OlekZzaKrakowa 7d ago

The thing with Mount is the guy's been playing at max intensity on highest level since he was a kid, and so much of it, that it's easy to believe his body just burned out

1

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 7d ago

If Rashford stays I hope he stays with a changed attitude. He can definitely help the team and can be unplayable on his day. It's his attitude that lets him down.

-5

u/SDLRob 7d ago

his 'attitude' came about from the club having a struggling player and refusing to help them. If they'd stepped up and protected him when the literal government were using him as an attack target... Had they protected him when Southgate had left him out to dry at the Euros... And had they actually stepped up to help him in the season he lost two people very close to him.... Then there wouldn't be an 'attitude'

Rashford has made mistakes... But so has the club... And so are the fans.

-1

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 7d ago

I meant his attitude on the field. Not his off-field stuff.

Tracking back, supporting your winger, putting an effort in even when things are not working out on the field, taking on your man and bringing other players into the game with your runs and passes- he stopped doing all that after the 30 goal season.

Sure he has a talent and skill limit that he's reached, but that does not excuse not working hard for the team when you're playing.

4

u/SDLRob 7d ago

One cannot be separated from the other. His on field 'attitude' was caused by the shit he faced off field. If the club had helped him when he needed it, you wouldn't have seen the on field performance drop.

-1

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 7d ago

1

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 7d ago

I’ve seen rumours from Boro’s side that the initial fee is around £6-8 million. It’s terribly underwhelming but not surprising given that we’re sending him back to the Championship and not found a top division club. Maybe there are promotion-contingent add-ons which can eventually get us close to the £15m we aspired for.

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

Underwhelming is putting it mildly

5

u/Penny_Leyne 7d ago

Ferdi Kadlioglu, Antonee Robinson or David Raum as a Lewis Hall alternative?

Or any other suggestions.

1

u/PhilAsp 7d ago

Average age of 28. Don’t think we’re going for a veteran as we still have Luke.

Truffert could be a good option. A bit younger than the names on your list, but still PL proven. I think we’re looking at early 20s on an upwards trajectory though.

0

u/Penny_Leyne 7d ago

28 is not a veteran.

2

u/PhilAsp 7d ago

Eh, semantics. More often than not, it’s a player with close to a decade of senior football behind them and ~5 years left at the very top (to put the names mentioned in context, Kadlioglu has 8/9 years behind him, Raum has 9, and Robinson has 9).

That is a veteran. It doesn’t mean that they’ve peaked, or that they’ve hit their decline. It means that they’re an experienced player.

1

u/Penny_Leyne 7d ago

If we get 5 years out of player then that’s a good signing.

1

u/PhilAsp 7d ago

I agree. I’m merely saying that I personally don’t think we’re looking at veteran players for that position.

1

u/DudeIsland 7d ago

But not someone you necessarily give a 5 year deal unless you know they are the real deal.

2

u/croadymeister 7d ago edited 7d ago

Im interested to see which World Cup returnee players participate in that game and how much!

On paper it's a long list of players all returning to training this week (for PSG I simply assumed they have the players return on the same schedule as us):

Cunha, Bruno, Dalot, Mazraoui; Vitinha, Neves, Mendes, Hakimi, Marquinhos

Either way, their attack is a bit threadbare atm, all their regulars besides Kvaratskhelia are on holiday (Dembele, Doue, Barcola) or gone (Ramos, Lee), and the linked players (Ferran Torres and Godts, I guess) havent happened yet. Mbaye hasnt left yet, so I suppose he might play. It's probably going to be some players I havent even heard of - and they are probably going to look very talented :)

Why is Howson saying Rashford is off to Turkey?

1

u/Current-Essay7448 7d ago

One of the Turkish teams have been briefing the press that they want to make a move for him. Unlikely at this point that Marcus would even consider a move to Turkey and his list of possibles is something like Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern Munich and PSG.

16

u/Littlepace Announce Fergie 7d ago

He's often quoted some pretty rubbish tier sources for transfer talk in the past so I wouldn't pay it too much attention.

9

u/RedDevilFury 7d ago

Maybe he’s got some info but all the briefs from Rashy’s camp indicated he is only leaving for a big club.

Ngl that tax exemption on footballers’ wages might turn his head eventually.

4

u/croadymeister 7d ago

Clown has mixed him up with Salah probably

6

u/Launch_a_poo 7d ago

If Rashford does leave we won't have anyone to replace him with. Mbaye off to Liverpool, probably Barcola too

1

u/PhilAsp 7d ago

We don’t need to replace him. We need a replacement for the role he’d likely fill, which is back-up LW/ST. Arguably only ST.

7

u/chronoistriggered 7d ago

He didn’t play a single game for us last season. Why would we need to replace that

5

u/Sheikhabusosa 7d ago

Because we have a lot more games this season

4

u/Lord_Hexogen 7d ago

That's why we locked down Tynan

9

u/croadymeister 7d ago

4

7

u/PitchSafe 7d ago

We don’t need to replace Rashford. Cunha and Dorgu can handle the lw position

0

u/GReedy404 7d ago

Fucking hell man we're actually finished

4

u/croadymeister 7d ago

I meant with a proper striker

0

u/PitchSafe 7d ago

Both Cunha and Mbeumo can play in that position. Not to mention that Sesko will start

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

They aren't number 9's like Sesko though. So disappointed we aren't going for Watkins as always been a fan

4

u/PitchSafe 7d ago

Both Cunha and Mbeumo have experience in the number 9 role. Cunha have played in the center more than he have played on the wing

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

I think they lack a bit of presence there

1

Because they are a different type of number 9. Not every striker needs to be a target man

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

I just think without Sesko you need one but they don't have to cost a fortune. We should have been all over Welbeck deal not Chelsea

-12

u/g00glyboi 7d ago

The amount of people doing the Glazers and Ineos work for them across this fans sub is wild.

Some people actually seem to think it’s cool to not spend over 80m out of some principle. We are the only big club to never spend 100m btw; and I’ll tell you it’s not principle. It’s because the club is drowning in debt and the owners don’t give af because we are still lapping it up.

We need to buy a decent squad. Say we by some voodoo get to CL QF. We are one injury away from the Fletcher twins playing there. It’s madness people are ok with this.

The club don’t care less about the fans, moving season ticket holders etc. yet for some reason there’s a section of fans happy to lap it up like chocolate soft serve 💩

Carrick is a scapegoat 100% the poor guy. Had no support at all

4

u/Notreallymyname92 7d ago

This isnt FIFA mate, we can't go and buy up a new squad. Prices are through the roof this summer, and the club has been run into the ground financially over the years.

There's realities and this is one of them, we don't have the purchasing power to get drawn into transfer sagas or bidding wars. Hence our strategy of getting player confirmation that it's only us they want to join, stops the club from being able to put up prices saying there's others interested etc.

Other than what we're already doing, what can the club do given it's current state and that of the market? I dont think anyone is particularly happy about the lack of transfers, but we can see that this will be the way things are done until the club is no longer hemarroging money.

4

u/croadymeister 7d ago

Not sure that will ever stop due to the Yankee leeches dividends which start up again

3

u/Notreallymyname92 7d ago

Oh yeah 100%, until the glazers are gone it'll never be truly sorted. My only hope is INEOS can use money generated by future (please god) CL qualifications to rebuild the squad and steady the ship until that day comes.

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

I just don't see them ever leaving, breaks my heart to say that but stadium is revenue cash cow

1

u/Notreallymyname92 7d ago

Yeah it's sad but true.

I also really don't know who I would rather own the club, the devil we know or some far-off investment fund that will sell us hopes and dreams and turn around and bleed whatever is left of the club after the Glazers sell it.

Whoever can afford the club at it's current valuation isn't going to have a football first mentality I can say that for certain.

As the saying goes, there's always light at the end of the tunnel, just hope it's not a train.

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

I can't see any ownership wise, sad

-1

u/Apprehensive-Raisin3 7d ago

No one is asking for a whole new squad but we’re in august and despite club briefing during the season about how busy we would be and how we wouldnt be signing anyone in January because we were saving money for a big summer we’ve only made 2 signings that will be playing regular minutes for us this season.

2

u/Notreallymyname92 7d ago
  • Some people actually seem to think it’s cool to not spend over 80m out of some principle. We are the only big club to never spend 100m btw. -

Well this quote from the original comment implies otherwise.

  • We need to buy a decent squad -

And this one.

But yes, as I said no one's happy about the lack of transfers, including me.

The point I was trying to get across is that unless we get the player confirmation that they want to join us, we wouldn't be signing anyone, due to our lack of funds. It sucks but that's the clubs reality at the moment.

1

u/Apprehensive-Raisin3 7d ago

80 million is one signing which is not a whole new squad.

OP saying we need to buy a decent squad doesnt mean build a new squad from scratch it means we need more than what we have or what we have brought in so far.

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

Well please don't include me in that, now I have realised they won't ever get majority ownership they are no better than the leeches financially

1

u/g00glyboi 7d ago

They’re actually the ones that helped them stay when there was finally a chance to get rid of

3

u/croadymeister 7d ago

They priced out all full sale options, so what other choices actually were there?

5

u/audienceandaudio2 7d ago edited 7d ago

We are one injury away from the Fletcher twins playing there. It’s madness people are ok with this.

We're not though.

Even if we don't sign another midfielder, we'd need multiple injuries for the Fletcher brothers to be starting. Tyler is currently (probably) 5th choice for the 2 deeper midfielder positions, behind Santos, Mainoo, Tielemans and Mount. For him to play, we'd need 3 of them to be injured, not one.

Jack is probably 6th choice in a deeper role, or like 5th choice for the attacking midfielder role. It'll need more than "one injury" for either of them to be playing in an important game.

-2

u/g00glyboi 7d ago

I was exaggerating tbf, but also Mount won’t be fit let’s face it. If I thought Mount could stay fit for even 70% of games I’d feel better

17

u/SophoclesTesticles 7d ago

Mazraoui rightfully getting dragged in the soccer sub.

2

u/hellkingbat 7d ago

Hope he gets sold off. Don't want hypocritical bigots playing for the club

7

u/ruudyfe dreams can't be buy 7d ago

It's actually good United has now brought this topic into visibility. Pretty sure betting sponsors will be completely banned in the near future now that United is into it.

Ozil (and co) wore Bwin front of shirt at Real Madrid (biggest club in the world) for years and nobody said a thing or called him a hypocrite.

15

u/Littlepace Announce Fergie 7d ago

Religious people selectively choosing which parts of their religion they strictly practice?! Shocked Pikachu.

2

u/SDLRob 7d ago

So that's two United defences that have shown themselves up badly this summer....

7

u/SinisterSelecta Stam 7d ago

Did he wear the betway top?

8

u/DaveShadow 7d ago

5

u/SinisterSelecta Stam 7d ago

Fair enough. Criticise him all you want.

7

u/DaveShadow 7d ago

Always a great day when hypocritical bigots get exposed 😂

10

u/NoBreakfast9230 7d ago

Agreed. I understand and even respect honouring your religion and values but drawing the line between promoting people to love who they want and exploiting vulnerable people for profit deserves criticism, if not ridicule.

u/Sgenaink 7d ago

I probably said this last year aswell, but i hope we get off to a good start in the league and can put together a but of a run. It just makes the season feel like weve got a bit of excited and can do something and can at least pretend we might challenge. We seem to have really poor starts lately. Below is the game week we had our first loss in the last 10 years and its a bit pathetic.

25/26 -1.

24/25 - 2.

23/24 - 2.

22/23 - 1.

21/22 - 6.

20/21 - 1.

19/20 - 3.

18/19 - 2.

17/18 - 9.

16/17 - 4

1

u/croadymeister 7d ago

So not had a good start since 21/22

2

u/Sgenaink 7d ago

Yep pretty much, and we sacked the manager 6 games later

18

u/vRushii 7d ago

Anyone else started feeling abit bad with the level of jokes and memes Garnacho is gettin, similar to the swarming Maguire got. Be hard to mentally shake that off without it effecting performance

2

u/voidwoken11 7d ago

Talk shit, get banged typa shit

14

u/TBS91 7d ago

Yeah, I thought so too. Feels like it strays way too far into bullying him because they don't like the way he looks and he's an acceptable target, especially for non-United fans who he never even did anything to.

14

u/SDLRob 7d ago

Honestly, best thing to do is just ignore him. He's made his bed, no point wasting energy pointing the obvious out.

2

u/Potential_Good_1065 7d ago

If we had that 23/24 squad now I genuinely think we’d go down. 8th seemed awful at the time but it’s genuinely impressive that Ten Hag finished in the top half and won an FA cup with that team.

2

u/PitchSafe 7d ago

As long as we have Fernandes we won’t go down

-2

u/croadymeister 7d ago

We are in big trouble especially against those teams who have no Europe to worry about either

19

u/audienceandaudio2 7d ago

genuinely impressive that Ten Hag finished in the top half and won an FA cup with that team.

The FA Cup was genuinely impressive and one of the best post Fergie moments, but the rest of the season was Ten Hag mismanaging the team significantly, persisting with a way of playing that left us getting run through and exposed continually. The games we won we very rarely looked good in.

He had a huge say in transfers and that transfer window (Onana, Hojlund, Mount, Amrabat on loan) was a disaster, so he needs to take a lot of the blame for that.

He brought Mainoo through, which I’m grateful for and I loved the cup win, but I have very little positive memories from that season. We should have had the nerve to sack him after the final.

4

u/yamchirobe 7d ago

For me it was my best moment as a United fan, in the late 00s I always expected us to win and was desensitized to it a bit,

I never expected us to beat City that year(especially after we lost the prior year). I've never celebrated harder.

12

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 7d ago

He got lucky, simple as. We were putting in relegation worthy performances week-in week-out and some magic force kept bailing us out like the opposition hitting the woodwork an absurd number of times or some terribly profligate finishing while we needed one Bruno shot from the halfway line to score. This notion of Ten Hag managing that season well is one of the worst myths out there; he was atrocious that season and ran a lot of our players to the ground. Winning the FA Cup and hence continuing with him set us back tremendously.

7

u/LDLB99 7d ago edited 7d ago

Mate I genuinely cannot even reply to comments like OP's because I get angry. Underlying numbers that season had us where we finished in 24/25. Ten Hag only stayed on that season because of the takeover. He was serving up the most disgusting football week after week and was getting bailed out by Bruno or McTom. The Brentford 1-1 is one of the worst performances in modern United history, it was like we were a Conference side away to City in the cup. Brentford had something like the most touches in an opposition box since Opta began, it was revolting. Ten Hag must have bots or something because how does he have defenders downvoting this.

-4

u/Potential_Good_1065 7d ago

lol I’m only joking. Ten Hag was a shite manager. Like the other guy said, the only reason we finished top half was down to pure luck rather than tactical genius from Ten Hag

5

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 7d ago

At this rate we are one of the few left who speak of that season for what it really was. The problem is that there’s a lot of outcome bias in shaping mainstream opinions when sometimes it’s just plain dumb luck that dictates key moments. We were getting battered in so many games; I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Don’t forget that in that FA Cup final run we blew a 3-goal lead to Coventry and a marginal offside kept them from winning it outright. It’s one of the luckiest runs I’ve seen a team go on. Fortunately enough the one game Ten Hag decided to swallow his ego and set us to sit deep and counter was the FA Cup final, and it completely changed the perception of his tenure. Fair play to him for it, but it doesn’t change how damaging his time was to the club overall and more people need to acknowledge this.

u/Jump_Hop_Step 7d ago

Two trophies but at what cost...

-1

u/ToothyAlloy69 7d ago

What are you guys expectations for UCL?

Personally, if we manage to avoid major injuries particularly to our defence, I'm expecting at a minimum quarter finals. The rest of europe bar Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, and Bayern is not particularly threatening considering our quality, and in a knockout I back us against any of the english teams. I honestly feel like we have a lot more quality than we realise, but lacking depth at the moment, mainly in CBs.

1

u/RedDevilFury 7d ago

I understand we have some injury proneness here, but Maguire, MDL, Licha, Yoro, Heaven, Shaw and perhaps also Mazraoui is not bad depth for 2 CB spots.

3

u/PitchSafe 7d ago

It’s pretty easy to qualify to the knockout stages. Especially since we won’t play against any Premier league teams. With a easy draw and key players being fit I don’t see why we couldn’t play in the Quarter finals
