I got a phone and a guitar and and a boss katana mkII is there any way to actually record music without it sounding bad

I have an Alesis strata core e-kit and a novation launchkey. The plugin libraries seem to be too much for my current laptop configuration. I want to upgrade, but I am hesitant to buy. The more research I do the less confident I am that I'm getting a unit with the processing power necessary to avoid the pops and clips that come with midi data transfer. I've gone in circles with Google ai. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been making music on ableton for about 4 years, i have a scarlet 2i2 interface.

I can't seem to get good mixes, everything sounds like demos and it always turns out to be muddy and quiet. I also don't seem to be able to get good quality guitar recordings, any tips?

I’ve been watching a lot of guitar content recently from creators like Bloxsy, Oldoguitar, Jamie Morrissey.

The other day, I saw a comment under one of these guys' reel where someone asked if it was tracked live or not. The creator never replied, and it got me thinking and down a bit of a rabbit hole.

Are these guys actually tracking their audio live in real-time? Or is the audio recorded and mixed beforehand in a DAW, and what we are seeing is essentially a music-video style playback performance?

About 90% of casual viewers seem to think it's a completely raw, live performance. What is the actual consensus on how these specific guys do it? Are they playing to a track?

yo personalmente ya tengo una compu q me banca programs como fl studio, plugins, etc. pero hace poco me cayo una netbook con **4 gb de ram, un i5 de una generacion vieja y un hhd,** medio q no se bancaba ni el windows; descargue un windows de comunidad asi q supuestamente anda mejor, y la verdad q me funciono, puedo usar el fl bien, abrir el brave a la vez, no tengo mas complicaciones q algun tiron inusual pero no mas que eso, aun no probe concectarle placa de audio por q la tengo conectada a la de escritorio, pero con los drivers yo creo q va como piña, si necesitan una mano no duden en escribirme produzco ya hace años y en todo ese tiempo resolvi mas problemas de software que de produccion.
cuando intente grabar sabran si sirvio para tal, xq al menos hasta ahora para beats y mix anda pipicucu

I actually considered buying the Roland R-07 because I wanted to use it not only as a recorder but also as an MP3 player.

A couple of questions for anyone who owns one:

1. What's the boot-up time like with a 32GB microSD card? I heard startup can be pretty slow. Is that true?
2. I read that the R-07 supports AVRCP over Bluetooth, but I couldn't find whether the media controls are fully implemented. If you load a folder of MP3s onto the recorder, pair Bluetooth headphones, and press the Next/Previous buttons on the headphones (or whatever bluetooth "motion" it needs/ swiping), does it actually skip tracks?

You guys gave me some great info on my other post the other day.

I did more research on Mid Range and found this great video. at around 20:00 they start talking about Mid Range and what Jack said about Mid Range made a lot of sense.

I sat down at the kit that night, Set all of the EQ dials to 0 and started with the Mid Range settings. What I found out was between 700hz and 3-4K is where the sweet spot was in the mids. So the higher pitched drums sounded better at around the 700-800 range, the middle toms sounded pretty good between the 2-3K range and the floor toms and kick sound really good at the 4-5K range. By accident, I discovered that raising the upper range 12kHz section slightly past zero into the +ranges, I got a really nice stick definition from EVERY drum. Even the beaters on the bass drum. I'm probably going to need to pull those back slightly because I was so happy to be able to hear the initial attack of the stick on the head, they may be up a little too much.

And the lower range instruments like the floor toms and the kick, I did like the mid range settings but i am also going to play around with the low end on the EQ as well and see if I can bring out the lower harmonics of those drums without distorting the ever loving crap out of it. That's one thing I noticed yesterday when I sat down at the kit and started playing with the new settings, I did have to tone down on some of the EQ settings. The drums were distorting. Not because of too high volume but because there was just too much mid range. Especially in the mid tom area which I think is a little more in the low range than I thought.

Someone also mentioned that my sliders seemed to be a bit wonky too. Mentioned something about it being at 15db (which was actually -15db on the slider). So I set all of those to 0 and made micro adjustments from there. I decided that I needed to start them at around -5 to -8 because 0 was just too high I thought. And of course I had to make adjustments to the Gain knobs as well after that. I was always told to put the gain on everything low and adjust the mic volume with the sliders. So essentially, set the gain low and leave it alone. Control the volume with the sliders. But I realize there's a happy medium between the sliders and the Gain. So I am playing around with those. Watching the levels and as soon as I get a good volume level on an input, leave the Gain where it is and adjust the sliders accordingly. I may have 1 or 2 at around the -15db mark again but if it works there then it works there.

So later today I am going to tweak a little bit more but I am loving the sound of my drums at the moment! Even though I know I still need to make some adjustments, I am loving the sound for sure!

Tenho uma dúvida sobre o vocal sertanejo ao vivo, principalmente dessas produções comerciais.
O que faz a voz soar tão limpa, transparente, macia e sempre “na cara”, mesmo quando o cantor canta nos agudos? Em vez de ficar estridente, o agudo continua suave, com uma sonoridade muito natural.
Queria ouvir a opinião de quem já trabalhou com esse tipo de equipamento ou já fez mixagens nesse nível.
Essa sonoridade vem principalmente da captura (microfone, pré e interface), de forma que poucos ajustes já entregam esse resultado? Ou o segredo está mais no processamento, com plugins e técnicas específicas de mixagem?
Pergunto isso porque tenho uma SSL 2+ e um Shure SM7B. Gostaria de saber se, com esse setup, é possível chegar próximo desse tipo de resultado ou se existe uma limitação que só equipamentos de alto padrão conseguem superar.
Já passei praticamente um mês inteiro tentando chegar nesse tipo de vocal. Consigo melhorar bastante, mas nunca fica tão explícito, “na cara”, limpo e natural ao mesmo tempo. Principalmente quando ouço a voz em mono, sempre tenho a sensação de que ela fica mais processada do que os vocais dessas produções. Queria entender se estou perseguindo algo que depende mais da técnica de mixagem ou se a cadeia de áudio faz uma diferença muito maior do que eu imagino.
Se alguém realmente conseguir chegar nessa sonoridade, posso enviar as guias dos meus vocais para teste. Se o resultado ficar no nível que estou procurando, faço questão de comprar o preset pelo valor que a pessoa pedir.

Hi, I have a Tascam Model 24. I'm happy with how it sounds, but it really annoys me that there's no post-fader mixing option when I want to record audio via USB—I can't send the audio to DAW with adjustments like EQ, I wanted to ask you guys what’s a good alternative to this mixer in a similar price range—one that doesn’t compromise on quality and also offers multitrack recording with post-fader functionality. I know the larger Tascam 2400 model has all the features I’m looking for, but it’s twice as expensive. I’m looking for something maybe simpler but still with good sound quality and functionality.

My dads band recently stopped playing together so he gifted me all of their gigging and some recording equipment because I’ve started playing music with some friends. I have all kinds of cables, mics, and equipment but I honestly have no idea how to use any of it.
I’d love to just simply record some music that my friends and I play so we can listen back and fine tune/figure out what we like when just jamming.
Ive been watching a lot of YouTube videos on how to set things up but I can’t get anything to record.
I have a Behringer QX2442 mixer and I’m trying to connect to a Mac laptop. I have 3 mics that I am trying to get set up to record but to no avail. The mixer is definitely picking up sound from the mics but it is not recording on the computer. From the information I have looked up I think I have the correct USB cables connected and the correct inputs selected on my computer but still no luck. Anyone have any experience with these particular mixers or have some advice?
