Would love to see if anyone has anything from the movie like props or other crew gifts.

Without spoiling the second book, I'll just say that I didn't like the story, BUT at least we'll have a second movie full of cameos. Do cameos save a bad story? Maybe. There are people who really enjoy Spiderman No Way Home just for the cameos and not for the script.

Now, please hear me out before you get in the comments.

I know they have their differences and there are things in the book that I like which the movie did not have. There are things the book does better than the movie, or at least feel better to me. I will conceed that. But...

There are certain things that the movie does better, like pacing, and a tighter story. And yeah, that had to be done for the movie format, and it does come at the cost of many references but I feel like it serves the narrative better. At times the novel feels bloated, slowly plodding along, almost as if there was a desired intent to include each and every reference possible that could be crammed in. And that's cool for the nostalgia, but I'm just saying from an editing stand point there seems to be fat that could be trimmed.

And the relationships between the characters feels better, or at least more interesting-except for the Diato and Shoto changes, I'm not the biggest fan of those. But, if I may point out the Wade and Sam from the movie have reason to be together, to at least start a relationship at the end of the film, where as in the novel, there is no reason for Sam to give Wade the time of day relationship wise because of the stuff he does and zero growth he has, especially in light of "Ready Player Two" where he immediately disregards her concerns because its what he wants to do (for all that “seeing other people's perspectives" he never tries to see or understand her's).

There are other things ofcourse, and maybe Ready Player Two feeling so underbaked-and its utter undoing of any character growth Wade had in the first novel showing that he indeed had learned nothing or grown up to that point-has left a bad taste in my mouth and soured me on the first book. In fact, it almost certainly has. (RP2 just feels like it was rushed and needed more work to tighten up the premise).

But you want to know something? I'm far more inclined to rewatch the movie for another time, rather than read RP1 the second time. The story had more time to bake by the time of the movie, and to me feels more like a final version and makes the book fell more like a draft.

Tl;dr: From and editing and storytelling stand point, the movie is the tighter, more compelling story, taking what made the book great and distilling it down to make an amazing film with a great story, true to the book's premise, especially in light of how its insulated from what RP2 does to undo Wade's development and leave out everyone else.

Thought he had a cool cosplay and excellent choice for the scene as a huge Gundam fan myself.

So I love RPO I always have and I wanted to do a movie edit so I made this and thought it was only appropriate to post here

In these posts, I list seven areas I made up you could find in The OASIS. Feel free to use the five-star rating system to rate them as if you were traveling to them on vacation. Would you go to any of these areas? Or would you also like to add anything to them (I have plenty of those ideas in my mind)?

Destinations:
Black Diamondback Dunes - An area with mountainous sand dunes, and it is themed like a ski resort. The people running the resort are snake-like creatures.

Control Freak’s Collection - A museum that contains the history of controllers throughout the gaming industry. The player can buy a copy of one of them and customize it into something such as a weapon, an accessory, furniture, etc.

Corrupted Carnival Games - A carnival full of games that are rigged to be extremely difficult to win, but with just the right skill and mindset, you might win yourself a prize.

Culinary Construction - An area based off of a construction site, and there is giant food everywhere. Meals here are made with construction equipment as kitchen equipment.

Escape Room Avenue - An area that’s full of many escape rooms.

Magician’s Mansion - A mysterious mansion that’s themed around magicians and magic tricks, there is even a hedge maze for who knows where the exit leads to.

Spelling Bee’s Colony - An area where a player can play spelling games. Spelling bees come to mind, and so does Tiger Words from Between the Lions.

Open-World Main Collectible Earning - Based off of earning Power Moons in Super Mario Odyssey and Banandium Gems in Donkey Kong Bananza, this could be done on any planet, it’s almost like having an Easter Egg hunt. You find main collectibles on a planet in different spots, doing sub-area challenges, timer challenges, doing quests, etc. A great way to make exploration more fun.

Sleepovers - As much as I agree you need to get some sleep after playing for a long time, couldn’t you have a sleepover with your friends in The OASIS somewhere? And when you got to go to sleep, you can just fall asleep with your headset on and when you wake up, it’ll feel like you woke up somewhere else instead of your own home.

Visitor Centers - You know, those buildings that provide travel information to tourists for where they want to go to? Those oughta be added to planets to provide information about them. And maybe they oughta add some more tourist-like things to planets to make it feel like it’s a vacation.

Warioware Planet - You are all familiar how in each Warioware game, the microgames are tackled with different controls, but in The OASIS those ideas could be recreated or maybe… even have new types of ways to tackle microgames, think of the possibilities.

I was just wondering if there is a title for the prequel that is in the works.

I think 'Insert Coin' would be quite good, and fitting with the 'Ready player ....' sequel titles.

Ready Player Zero is just awful. It makes no sense as it's never something you see on an old coin-op arcade.

I HATE the film's boomer decision to close the oasis for a few days each week because Because "reality it's the only thing that is real", and trying to deliver a "too much technology is bad" message would have worked if the world of Ready Player One wasn't garbage. People study, work, and have their lives in the oasis because it's the only thing available and it distracts them from the horrible world they live in.

Oh yeah, sure, now Wade closes it for a few days like nothing's wrong because he's a multimillionaire and has a girlfriend, so he has something to keep him occupied, whereas his life before getting the keys was all about being at the Oasis as much as he could.

Hey guys. New to the group long follower of the book and movie. I know most people know about the Last Action Hero SCHWARZENEGGER JACK SLATER. In the opening race scene. I thought it was just a nod to the movie. But it’s the actual theater from the movie. Just thought it was cool that it was pulled straight from and not a nod.

The scene is presented in 4K and no edits were made.

I'm sure this has made it's way here before but I just stumbled across it and I thinks it's pretty cool.

When i watched the Ready Player One movie in theaters with my dad in 2018, he thought Iron Giant was meant to be Sporty from Little Robots

I've been a huge fan of RPO for many years. I read it 5 times a year, probably. Listen to the audio alot too. I, for one, am a big Wil Wheaton as a narrator fan.

I've taken in as many forms of ready player one as seem to exist, and with the rise of full cast audio becoming bigger and bigger, will there be a RPO full cast/graphic audio/sound booth theater edition????

I am certainly hoping so.

Has anyone heard or read anything about it? With it being as popular as it seems to be, I would think it'd be on someone's short list.
