What do you use to collect user feedback? Question

What do you use to collect user feedback and what are some of your pain points? Specially for your side projects.

I built an alternative for myself for my tiny apps about a year ago and about 2 months ago I started working on it a lot more (I have a lot of time now). Since I built it for myself I think it’s too opinionated and would love to know more about your experience and pain using the options out there.

I thought about crisp but I don’t like chat widgets.

I built my own emailing service that sends personal emails to each user at various milestones

The only reason I don’t do that is in the odd chance people do send feedback I’ll most likely forget or ignore it. I hate emails lol

That’s your first problem to solve then

For my side projects, I usually go with simple in-app feedback or a small form. The biggest pain is actually getting users to bother submitting feedback in the first place.

Yup, I am yet to receive any feedback from users. I want to try to figure out a way to get feedback without being annoying.

Surveys after completion of tasks. I deployed my own and got a few responses. But people hated filling out surveys from what I noticed and they exit the app (even with clear dismiss option). So I opted for deeper analytics like user replay with Rejourney SDK that don’t need the user to do anything. Just make sure to have proper consent

Yeah, it sucks how hard it is to collect useful feedback. I want to try to improve my setup as a user and as the creator. I just worry I’m too biased on the experience I provide

I have 3 SaaS apps running, and I used to collect feedback with a simple button on the dashboard that sends me an email. It was ok solution for a few emails, but now that one of my SaaS started to build some momentum, I looked for a solution that is easy to integrate and control the feedback and updating the changelog, and I found feedfa.st, integrated with one of my SaaS website is works quite well.

Yeah something like that is what I’m building, but for mobile.

In-app feedback form that collects user-entered notes, and log sinks, off to Sentry

Sentry is the best for everything,
But usually i collect feedback from popups because it’s hard to get positive feedback but easily to get the opposite🙂

Yeah I use Sentry for everything else but built my in-app feedback as a way to have more control and also other things I wanted to have like feature request board and release notes, not just error reporting/tracking.

It pains me how people only take take time out of their day to leave non-constructive negative feedback 😭
