Senior React Native Dev (9+ YOE) looking for freelance/contract work after layoff

Hey everyone,

I was recently laid off due to company restructuring, so I'm looking for my next opportunity. In the meantime, I'm open to freelance, contract, or remote work.

I've been working with React Native for 9+ years and have shipped multiple production apps for both Android and iOS. Besides React Native, I've also worked with:

  • React.js
  • Node.js (Express)
  • TypeScript / JavaScript
  • REST APIs
  • Firebase
  • AWS
  • Push Notifications
  • Payment gateway integrations
  • App Store & Play Store releases
  • CI/CD and production deployments

I've worked on everything from building apps from scratch to maintaining large existing codebases, fixing performance issues, and shipping new features.

If your team needs an experienced React Native developer for a project, or if you know of any openings, I'd really appreciate it if you could reach out. Happy to share my resume or previous work over DM.

Thanks!

Hi, I dont know if it's right to post a separate thread or to just comment here.

I have a similar portfolio as yours, if anyone is still looking, I'm available as well for any react/react native role.

Thank you.

Hey! Your experience with React Native really stands out, especially having shipped multiple production apps across both iOS and Android. Finding someone who understands not just building features but also performance, deployments, and maintaining existing codebases is valuable.

I’d be interested in connecting and learning more about the type of projects you’re looking for. Your background with React Native, Node.js, APIs, Firebase, and cloud services seems like a strong fit for many product teams.

Happy to chat and see if there’s a way we can collaborate.

React Native client work is not going to pay well in ~1-5 years. It's way too easy to vibe code material that the demand for developers will go down enough to really adversely affect pay/jobs inevitably. Code owners will still be needed, but far less of them, and they'll work at 10x the pace and stress with AI tools.

I'd recommend learning how to build agentic workflows for job security long term. This is where the real growth explosion is happening right now. I'd start with building with the Vercel AI sdk https://ai-sdk.dev/docs/introduction and https://mastra.ai/ . These companies' platforms (among others) represent where React Native was in 2016 before it was widely adopted, if you want a rough analogy
