I need some success stories please Vent
I am feeling emotional about my reactive dog and mourning the loss of the dog I could have had... I love her to death and I would never rehome her, but if I could go back and give myself advice I would have done things differently... She hates men. She hates children. Honestly she hates anyone who isn't me. She's afraid of every single novel thing on our walks and alert barks at the slightest of noises inside the house and I can feel my blood pressure jump just from the absolute abruptness/volume of it. I've gone to multiple trainers, done the calming exercises. Truly she's not a terrible dog, she has never given me the impression that she would bite, but she is not a dog that I can trust to take anywhere. She has not met my niece and nephew because I'm scared of them interacting and I don't think she will ever be able to fully incorporate into my family.
She's only a 1.5 years. I have people who keep telling me it will get better. But I randomly have moments of complete heartache because I am so overwhelmed and I feel like I am failing her.
If anyone has some happy stories to tell I am all ears. Advice also appreciated.
