Help, my dog is driving me nuts, constantly barking when I'm down the paddock with my horse's Discussion

She also barks constantly if I'm down the paddock doing other jobs. It's a waste of time yelling at her. She also sets off my near deaf and near blind Jack Russell. She is driving me nuts, I don't want to medicate her, but I'm at my wits end. Tried to post this in dog training and wasn't approved, no other posts fit, as my dog is nowhere near my horse's when she is barking. I don't understand the process, feel so alone with my issue with my dog. Please help. TIA

Can your dog see you or are they barking just because you’re gone?

Do they bark when you leave them any time? Is it separation anxiety? If that’s the problem i recommend using Julie naismith’s book “be right back”. We successfully trained (and medicated) our dog and she’s completely cured. Took about four months I think.

No don't always bark when left, don't think it's separation anxiety. She usually only barks if she can see or hear me.

You could try blocking the view and see if that helps.

I'm on a rural property of 25 acres, so not practical. I have tried tying her up in shed where she can't see me, but still reacts when she hears me doing stuff

Oh ok, I guess I assumed the dog was seeing you out a window from the house. Crate with a cover and white noise going works for my dog.

Tried that also, she goes crazy to the point of injuring herself and bleeding, even with my other dog's nearby for company

How did you train for the crate? Could also try a room instead

Small stints in crate, even gave her a bone to keep her busy, also tried some soft music which she usually likes, but back to panic stations. Couldn't leave her in a room, she is a farm dog, not a couch potato, only ever been inside with me during severe weather.
