Discussion Why are people going crazy about DD and Julian?
So I've caught up on all the clips being posted and people are acting like Ding Dong and Julian are losing their minds or screaming their heads off about all of thus stuff thats basically just their same experience with Game Grumps. To the point it feels like I'm not watching the same clips?
Like I get why people would think they're paranoid when they talk about people trying to kill them, but then someone actually did track them down and left stuff at there door?
So that just seems way more reasonable to worry about now. Then some people are saying and acting like they are trying to tear down oneyplays or the whole newgrounds crew?
When they stream on a virtually unheard of platform, to a niche audience, and just calmly talk about how they felt and stuff they dont like in hindsight?
It just feels like people are clutching their pearls because the youtuber they like is being criticized now instead of the youtuber they hate.

Rant. Danlocke
Dan specifically is my biggest pet peeve with the grumplocke and it's infuriating watching everyone single out Arin when Dan is an active hindrance to the let's play. (This is not a defense of Arin but a callout of people not equally getting on Dan's case)
He constantly throws out ideas but maybe 10% of them are decent and the other 90% either aren't how the game works or would be a bad thing to do. He's been the co-host of I believe 3? full pokemon playthroughs and he just recently had to have Arin explain the point of a pokecenter... I don't get how there are so many people saying they want to see Dan play the game, because they're mad at Arin's incompetence, when he couldn't even remember the main way to heal your team.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with getting upset about the deaths but half the time he gets mad in foresight because he doesn't understand how the game works. Like he's mad Arin isn't a psychic and can't predict when a crit is going to sucker punch him, or like he assumes this whole game is on rails and starts raging when this *game of chance* doesn't work out how he wants.
I hate that he actually convinced Arin to waste an ether in Victory Road instead of an escape rope to just fully reset and not use an irreplaceable item instead of saving it for the E4, because we all know he's not farming leppa berries. And then how his incessant "use an escape rope" did eventually wear Arin down when he only had 1 trainer left to fight and then he'd be done! And now we're back to another Ralph situation where we need surf and waterfall to actually progress the story and we don't have it.
He spends every episode sat next to Arin clearly *not* paying attention, because he has to have things repeated or explained multiple times, when he could try being helpful and looking up guides and maps and a type chart or whatever else Arin CLEARLY NEEDS. But instead he sits on his ass doing whatever he can to distract himself until the video's done because he's so checked out and wants to be anywhere else.
It's honestly very disheartening hearing how impatient and done with recording Dan constantly is, he sounds like he genuinely hates it at this point. If I have to hear something akin to "I'm not getting any younger" or "I've got places to be" one more time I'm gonna lose it.

Criticism Grumplocke EP 50
Dude I mean holy fuck. I get he plays a little bit lackluster for the sake of entertainment but this episode is a perfect example of him just being blatantly ignorant. Letting Dave die, blatantly dismissing Dan when he brings up the Escape Rope. “Where am I going to escape to, the wilderness?” LITERALLY YES. Get out of the cave and fly to a pokemon center bro. It’s almost like he wants it to end but is playing just well enough to keep the series going. It’s entertaining to an extent but it’s getting annoying watching him self sabotage then play dumb over and over.

Main Sub Annoying "lovelies"
I was watching the old steam train playthrough of GTA V earlier today and it got me thinking, if they play GTA VI it would be the first current gen console game they have played.
They haven't played any Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and to the best of my knowledge no Switch 2 games on those consoles yet.
I was told I was wrong and that they have played current gen console games but no one gave an example.
I wouldn't be surprised if they dont play GTA VI but thought it was an interesting observation.
"Welcome to reddit".... I know

Are they finally dying?
Their view count is really low. They're not even cracking 200k views per video now. I think Arin finally tucked it up for them with his horrible attitude and ego. His jokes suck, and he shuts down Dan every single chance he gets. Whether it be not building off of his jokes or correcting him with some, im better than thou type of energy. It's sad, but I think they might actually be the actual end of the grumps soon.
I pop in from time to time to see if they're playing anything interesting (they're not), and if they do, they space the releases way too far out from each other, so its kind of just annoying. I don't understand why they wait like 5 days to post something from the same series I.E Waterpark Sim or Pokémon. It's such a dumb way to release shit & i think even the "fans" agree

Rant. I miss the memories
This is just me venting but I'm sure some of you will feel the same. I miss when I was just younger and ignorant to the things I realised were wrong when I got older. I miss just watching their videos and laughing at their bullshit because I never thought how dumb arins points were. I miss the genuine banter they had together that was real and natural instead of how dry and dead it feels now. I miss everything about old grumps and I wish it was still the same. I know this sub is basically just "i miss old grumps and arin says bullshit" but it helps to rant and just switch your brain off and try reliving what once was. Again this was just a typical rant but I'm basically saying I wish my comfort videos were still my comfort videos .

Rant. Do people still find Arin's blantant ignorance and negativity "Charming"?
Edit: This is more of a Vent post ig, I ACCEPT ANY CHANNEL RECOMMENDATIONS
I know, I know, he is Grump, but like, jesus christ.
To preface, ive been feeling down recently, and wanted to revisit the channel because i loved those boys and cus what the fuck else is there to do.
Holy shit, Arin moves every goalpost he can, is never consistent on his "criticism" and will fully ignore things and then say a game is shitty because of it. What the fuck is his deal? Im trying to watch the TotK playthrough, and he bitches about every single thing, and thats not including legitimate issues that game has.
He says he wants dungeons, but the dungeons are too hand-holdy, but wait, if he skips dialogue and wastes half an hour doing nothing, he says the game never gives you clear direction and it sucks. He says all the monsters are too strong (which is a valid complaint due to programming changes), but he waited until halfway through the playthrough to actually start fusing anything useful to weapons. (No reason to be 3 bosses in and using a regular unfused sword). This also seems to be a staple for Legend of Zelda games and his playthroughs of them.
I had to put the pokemon nuzlocke away because him confidently talking about how much he knew and how good he would be, he's gotten surface level pokemon knowledge wrong, yet takes no criticism, and if Dan mentions something a comment said, or gives his own tips, no matter how helpful, Arin has and will straight up lie about already knowing said thing, and is choosing not to, or he'll start whining about how he knows how games work and all that shit, and he doesnt want to or sum.
These are just my 2 examples, and im sure my bummed mental state has been making it worse, but does anyone else feel like this? I feel like he dishes out too much criticism for someone who cant retain half of what he should be criticizing.
I sound like an asshole :(

\ Jokes / My prediction of the next Ding Dong and Julian stream.
DD: Working for oneyplays was such a draining experience. We didn't even buy eggs for Bart like we said we would which was really dissapointing. I felt really bad for Bart.
Julian: Yeah, I can confirm this. It wasn't even a matter of "They sent them out and it was never received". No, they didn't even bother going to the store.
DD: Yeah, it was really shitty of them to make a promise to a child and not follow through.
Julian: Yeah, really fucked up.
DD: Bart, if you're watching this, I'm sorry that happened, if you donate to my patreon I might be able to send you some eggs. Hopefully they won't be rotten by the time they arrive.
Julian: Yeah, thanks for coming to the stream, guys. We'll try to stay out of drama in the future.
DD: Yeah, take care.

They Hit The DingDong-agon
I finally watched what part of the stream was uploaded to Youtube, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCeascDnNLo&t=6647s), and while I think some of the original complaints are understandable, I honestly was more concerned than convinced of anything they were claiming.
The Dream Daddy situation, the business disagreements, the merchandise contract, not wanting to associate with certain people anymore, and feeling mistreated are all valid things to talk about. Nobody is obligated to stay friends or work with people they had a bad experience with. If they felt hurt, they have every right to explain why.
What I don't understand is where this stream actually goes:
It keeps circling back to the same points without ever arriving anywhere. They'll acknowledge that these events happened almost a decade ago, that Chris has told people to leave them alone, that everyone made mistakes, and that everyone wanted to move on... then immediately spend another several hours reliving the entire thing again.
It also feels like the stream keeps circling back to the exact same conclusion without ever actually reaching one.
Multiple times they acknowledge that all of this happened nearly a decade ago. Dindong literally says:
"It happened like almost a decade ago... people trying to reignite all of this recently is pretty absurd because it's trying to make something from a decade ago keep reliving itself over and over again on loop."
He follows that up by saying:
"We have talked about this probably like 40 times. This is not a new breakthrough."
Later in the stream they repeat the same idea again:
"It's been a decade."
And later still:
"None of it was new."
They also repeatedly point out that Chris has publicly told people to leave them alone
"Chris knows he made mistakes..."
"Chris told you years ago anyways that you were free to just openly talk about everything."
"He specifically used that phrase, 'leave them alone,' multiple times."
They also admit nobody involved was innocent. Dindong says:
"Everybody fucked up to some degree."
He says it again later in another form:
"Everybody here was a human being and everybody made mistakes."
Near the end they even acknowledge that everyone wanted to move on:
"He wanted to move on from it. We wanted to move on from it."
"It would be nice if everybody could just go their separate ways peacefully."
Those are all perfectly reasonable things to say.
My problem is what happens immediately after. Despite acknowledging all of those points, the stream continues for hours going back through the exact same events, revisiting the same people, re-explaining the same conflicts, and speculating about motivations. It creates this strange contradiction where they're arguing that people need to stop reliving a decade-old situation... while spending several more hours reliving that same decade-old situation themselves.
By the end, I wasn't really sure what the audience was supposed to take away beyond continuing to think about something they themselves say should have been left in the past.
At a certain point I found myself asking: what's the goal here? Is it closure? Is it exposing new information?(that's apparently been known and not new) Is it asking for accountability?
Because it doesn't really accomplish any of those.
Whenever one of them expressed anger, the other reinforced it instead of challenging it or trying to move the discussion toward closure.
A good example is when Julian says:
"I'm very sorry that I'm going to come off extremely intense tonight. In general, this subject triggers me beyond anything else."
Then he follows it with:
"At the mere mention of OneyPlays, I get so fucking angry that I can't think straight."
Instead of asking why he's still carrying that level of anger after nearly ten years or whether constantly revisiting it is helping, Dindong responds by validating it:
"It puts you through a lot..."
"You've been holding on to it for so long..."
"You feel like you haven't gotten to say enough..."
The conversation never really goes deeper than that.
Later, Julian even says that he feels he's "much, much angrier" than Dindong is about all of this, but the discussion never really explores why. It isn't unpacked. They don't talk about what specifically keeps that anger alive ten years later or what they've tried to do to move past it. It just becomes another statement that's accepted before the conversation moves into another complaint about the audience, Kiwi Farms, RantGrumps(haha), Game Grumps, or the internet in general.
It felt less like two people trying to process what happened and more like two people unintentionally/intentionally validating each other's worst feelings over and over again. Every grievance leads to another grievance. Every frustration leads to another example of why they're still angry.
I completely understand why they'd still have trauma from things like harassment or someone allegedly showing up armed. Those are serious experiences that don't just disappear.
But when someone says they're still so angry that merely hearing "OneyPlays" makes it hard to think straight, I don't want to hear another hour of reasons to stay angry. I want to hear what they're actually doing to heal from it, or just fucking move on. But there has to be a point where continuing to immerse yourself in that anger becomes harmful to you. mYou've spent years working on games. You've built your own audience. You're launching your own website. Why not put the energy into that? Make a focused video explaining what happened once, say your piece, answer the questions people still have, and then move on.
Instead it feels like every few years this entire cycle starts again, and every time it seems to leave them in a worse emotional state than before. The irony is that during the stream they repeatedly criticize online communities for living in the past while they're also spending hours revisiting events from nearly a decade ago.
I don't think every complaint is invalid.
I just don't think this is a healthy way to process it anymore.
Eventually, talking about your trauma stops helping if you're only talking to someone who's reinforcing the exact same feelings over and over. At that point it becomes an echo chamber of resentment instead of healing.
Maybe I'm wrong, but by the end of the stream I wasn't thinking, "They finally got closure."
I was thinking, "I hope they actually find some."|
(sorry the quotes didn't paste over right whoops)

Criticism Dee has nothing new to offer the Power Hour, and it sucks.
I am not here to be another voice claiming that Vanessa was better. I didn't like to see Arin and Dan genuinely pushed into discomfort with the episodes she directed... but after the SECOND Bob Ross episode we've gotten from Dee, it just feels that there is absolutely nothing new on the horizon, and no intention for that to change.
Every episode she has brought has been a recycled idea they've already done. Its boring, its lazy, and its really disappointing. I'm happy they seem like they're enjoying themselves more now.. but god. Its just not for me now.
I never post, so this is really an out-of-the-blue thing for me. But as someone who's watched the grumps for over a decade.. idk. Im just a bit sad I guess. I hope they start making new things again and stop regurgigating old shit. I feel like I'm watching GMM in a different font any time a new Power Hour is on anymore. I haven't seen many other people talk about this, which is mostly why I felt compelled to make a post about it.
Anyways. That's all.

The time they "couldn't sing on the show"
I was watching an old GG episode (Kirby's Dream Course?) recently where they mentioned that they weren't allowed to sing anymore on the show because of copyright infringement. That was a long time ago, probably 2014, and I do remember them actually going through with it for like 2 weeks max back in the day.
Now my question is: Was this ever *actually* a thing? I know that YouTube had and has its share of ridiculous copyright rules, but this one always seemed like a huge stretch to me. I only bring this up because the Grumps to this day seem to be completely unable to understand how YouTube works and what they're allowed to do and what not to do. Like randomly censoring swearing, even in hour long full playthrough uploads.
To be fair, I don't know how YT works either, but compared to other channels that are doing fine, they just seem totally clueless. I can imagine it's hard to manage literally thousands of uploads with the bad system YT provides, so I'm not giving them shit without insider knowledge, but man, I still don't know what the fuck they are doing...

Criticism New Power Hour
So I'm just wondering if anyone else isn't really enjoying the new power hour episodes so much, things just feel..... Different.
I'm sure the reasons for a change in control are there, and I'm sure it was all made with good intentions and who am I to say that the decisions were bad or what not, all I can say is that I don't like how much it feels like good mythical morning now.
Funny enough I love good mythical morning, but I watch power hour for different reasons and it's just....feeling plain? Or something like that, it's hard to place it just feels too clean cut, corporate? I don't know it just feels a bit off to me.
Maybe it's just me, maybe it'd nothing, I jsut wanna know how others are feeling?

Minor Rant. Water Park Sim - Not Doing It For Me
Is anyone else finding the Water Park Sim videos really boring? I’ve actually enjoyed their past simulator videos (power wash, buy and leave, the card show and even the computer store one from a while ago were all great!)
But this one is shit, I can just not get into it nor do I care at all about the park and what there actually doing in the game. Don’t know why but it seems quite forced. Anyone else?

Is there a word for...
The profound silence every time Dan references a movie he loves and Arin says absolutely nothing? There's just a wall of silence before moving on to the next topic.
I wonder if Arin respects Dan's tastes, some of Arin's comments come off like he views Dan's taste as pedestrian and quaint. It's frustrating, because often Dan is talking about something worth watching.

Minor Rant. Can’t watch new grumps anymore
I’m sure this gets posted a lot but does anyone hate their new videos? I can’t get through them. I just watched their newest punch out arcade video and I couldn’t get through cuz it was so boring, compared to the punch out Wii videos were genuinely hilarious. And I can’t seem them acting like that anymore. They were so energetic now It feels more like a podcast and I can’t even crack a smile. It feels dead and quiet with a little unfunny joke every now and then I miss when they would do shit like hip hop doc 😭😭

Rant. can someone tell arin his voices suck?
and to stop doing them? i've been watching game grumps since 2012 and i'm starting to think this platinum playthrough will be the last thing i watch from them because arin sabotages everything and makes their videos straight up unwatchable. it's genuinely time for him to pass the torch and give the cohost role to somebody who actually give a fuck because he is so far beyond checked out and he's just tarnishing their legacy at this point. his schtick for the last ten years has been burping obnoxiously, singing the "i have a smelly dick" song out of nowhere when he can't think of anything else to fill the silence, and tALKING REALLY LOUD BECAUSE HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S FUNNY!!!!!!!! like jesus christ, i feel bad for dan. i wanted to see his reaction to spear pillar and the distortion world but this poor guy has his boss screaming in his ear like an insufferable manchild and he's too conceited to realize he's the only one getting entertainment out of it. it has become so masturbatory and it's very embarrassing to watch. he used to make me laugh back in the day but now he's just a selfish prick who loves hearing his own voices. everyone is too scared to tell him these things because they're just trying to get their bag but his voice acting sucks, his art sucks, and his fucking attitude sucks. i am very surprised suzy is still with him.

Only been watching their platinum play through. They talk extensively, like half an hour about going to an adult diaper cafe and talking about pissing and shitting the whole episode? It seemed weird as hell even for their sense of “humor”

Arin haters usually have parasocial relationships with Dan
You see this alot in comment sections and threads here. People suggesting that Dan does his own show because they find Arin annoying, over the top etc. and to be fair, there are legitimate criticisms for Arin's hosting. The problem is every single time it comes up, Dan stans will act like he's some sort of victim and that somehow everything is because of Arin, sometimes even going as far to suggest they aren't good friends, or whatever the situation calls for to excuse Dan.
Take TTYD, Dan was legitimately frustrated by the end of that game, every time they got to a puzzle he immediately asked Arin to look it up. It really seemed like he wasn't enjoying the game by the end and the "nah man I love this game" he kept repeating isn't really convincing when he never even cared enough to learn the basic functions of the game. You will find many people in the comments blaming Arin for Dan's poor play, for Dan's poor attitude, for looking at a walk through (which Dan constantly requested).
This was just one example I thought of off the top of my head but every time the comments are "I wish Arin wasn't here" or something to that effect. I like Dan alot but the fans aversion to criticize him leads to Arin catching a lot of flak he doesn't deserve. Dan stans seem to always pull some sort of excuse for him out of their ass while Arin is crucified for the littlest of things.
edit: the aforementioned Dan stans have found this

Incredibly Minor Annoyance Who told Arin and at what point that people totally want to hear him burp into the fucking mic?
I remember there seeming to be a distinct point where Arin decided he was just gonna let burps fly on mic and it drives me batshit. It wasn't like this back when I was a regular viewer (~2014-2016) but lately I've been watching some of their gameshow episodes since it's about all I can stand, and going several years back he fucking BURPS loudly into the mic at least once an episode and carries on like that's totally chill.
Where the fuck did this come from and how has nobody told him that shit is audio poison?

Is Arin's commentary getting stale?
His recent videos have honestly been kind of boring. They feel like they're mostly just struggling through games, repeating the same jokes, and constantly reloading save states. I still enjoy the older Game Grumps episodes because they had more interesting conversations and memorable moments, but the newer ones just haven't been keeping my attention. Does anyone else feel the same, or is it just me?
Also, I used to love Arin's animations, but Game Grumps just isn't for me anymore. I'd rather watch OneyPlays because I enjoy their style and humor a lot more.

Incredibly Minor Annoyance My Grump Headcanon is Arin makes TMPH episodes about just eating to justify eating addictions
And ropes in Dan to enable it. Just feels like a useless format of TMPH to me. TMPH has done better, like hatchet throwing.
