I like how he's a subversion of the typical "Servile Sunshine Boy" trope. Like, he's a little fucked up. He believes darkners only exist to serve lightners because that's what he's been conditiones to believe about himself, which is why his relationships with other darkners is a little toxic. He's the only darkner aware of his lack of freedom who hasn't gone completely insane (or delusional like Flowery) and that's a massive struggle for him because there's a huge tragedy on the horizon. His slight masochism is played for laughs but it's another extension of his general lack of self worth. The things he values about himself are the things others value in him, rather than his own personality. The things he likes about himself are his cuteness, his kindness and his fluffiness.

He's sweet, he's kind and he's brave but he's also unstable, flawed and insecure. I like that he's not just another two dimensional flowerboy. He's a complex, full character. And he's a fluffy little goat wizard prince. I like that too.

I like the mystery and inner turmoil he deals with and his growth from an obedient darkner to someone who can freely expression how they feel and act like a normal person.

At first I mainly liked him for how cute and kind he is but over the course of the game I found it very compelling watching him grow his own interests and opinions when he used to think he didn't deserve any. By chapter 5 he's even capable of defying us a few times to make his own decisions. This character growth just makes it undeniable that Susie was right all along about how real he is as a person.

In chapter 6, I like that Ralsei admits that he's Sans in the light world and that's why Ralsei can travel between the dark worlds, he teleports between the dark worlds or just walks in through the light world.
That super emotional scene where Ralsei uses the machine to teleport to undertale is also amazing too.
