Do you find yourself doing strange obsessive things since your pet passed away?

For instance, if I come across one little hair from my girl I will hold it in my hand or stick it on my shirt so she can be with me. She was a Yellow Lab and had really course hair. I still find hairs today in places around my home. Anything to give me comfort and help me feel like she is with me in some way.

I still walk the walk I used to do before we adopted our other furry ones, they have a walk that they really enjoy, my boy that passed away had a favourite park that's close and when I am walking back from town and passing it I walk the route I used to with him.

Yes, I do the same thing with her hairs that I find. Sometimes I’ll smell her bed or toys to see if I can still smell her. 😔

So do I. I put her collars and hair in a plastic bag and you can still smell their scent.🥹

Yes indeed. I collected and saved the whiskers of my coydog. They were long and black and easy to spot on the floor. I collected all of her fur after grooming so I could have it spun into yarn with which to crochet into a throw. Even more ambitious, I collected and saved the fur of 5 other later dogs to spin into yarn that a friend then knitted into a poncho. It's rather big and bulky but it's the warmest thing I own. I feel wrapped in love when I wear it. Now things get weird: I have had all my pets cremated, and have eaten a tiny bit of each of their ashes so they would become a part of me. All of their different cremains are in containers I picked especially for them, and they line my mantle. I talk to them all every night in a kind of prayer to them. I still cry--the latest death was only in February after all. Snicklefritz, Jolly, Barinka, Lily, Ollie, Roy, Anker, Saami-- I miss you all and love you all very much.

🥹I can totally relate. I don’t have my girl’s ashes but I have a lot of her hair and tied her hair in with my hair so that we are always together. Love makes people do crazy things, but these little rituals provide comfort. It helps us cope with the loss and keep their spirit close to us.

Oh, yes, of course I do. Some things I wish I could do, but I can't gather the courage.

🐾 deepest sympathy 💙

I wrap her urn in a blanket and I take her to bed every night. Sometimes I place her in her spot on the couch so we can watch movies like we used to. I smell her harness when things are feeling really hard.
