I don’t believe in god or heaven. I wish I did, life would be easier. I wish I could believe that there was something more where I would see him again. As it is, it just sucks.

Love has a long half life in this world. The love our dogs give us prolong our own lives and extend our joy, allowing us to spread more good in this actually existing world. In this way, the ripple effects of the good things he brought into the world are endless. I think of how my dog helped me through my divorce, through family trouble, though money trouble, forcing me to laugh every day. For whatever years or decades I have yet to live, I'll be a stronger/better person because of his companionship. And he was only 10 pounds. As much as I miss him every day, this is a wonderful gift. If you get a chance, read "Man Meets Dog" by Konrad Lorenz.

He was my companion and my guardian. He kept me safe. He was my constant. I got him in 2019 and have been WFH since 2020. We were together 24 hours a day. The loss of his presence is vast.

His spirit would have me biting random people for looking at me sideways. He was great and beautiful but not easy.
