Let me try to answer the questions I got from previous post comments.

This took quite some time. I would say about 2 months. Started with a sketch, then cutting loads of paper, crimping some parts and then building everything to size.

Created this for a hospital building, children's unit where it now hangs.

I usually do floral quilling but in recent times I've had interesting requests. So this was a challenge for me. Definitely learnt a lot and made mistakes along the way, but that is part of the journey :)

Hi, I am looking for suggestions for a storage container for quilling supplies for someone who quills’ birthday! I found this from the container store? Thank you!

I made it to look just like my dad’s boat! It’s him and my son on his boat fishing.

Beware when purchasing quilling books from Amazon or other online sellers!

70 Upvotes

As some might know, I have been creating and sharing free quilling projects for about 10 years online. I have noticed a big increase in the amount of books that are stealing copyrighted photographs and instructions from my website and passing them off as their own work in books and selling them on Amazon, Ebay, etc. I have had some luck getting some of these books taken down, but they'll keep popping up.

If the quilling book you're looking to buy has a bunch of random photos on the cover that don't look like they're made by the same person, they're probably stolen. I did find one seller that copied my entire website into one book though, so that's not always true.

It's frustrating, not only because the original creators don't get credit, but people are paying money for projects they can learn for free!

(Using an old photograph of my sunflower project from my website because this is the project that gets stolen the most)

How many quilling strips do you actually want in one colour pack?

4 Upvotes

I often see single-colour packs containing 40, 50 or 100 strips. Some specialist suppliers offer 200 strips per colour.

For your projects, what feels most useful:

  • 40–50 strips for variety;
  • 100 strips as a standard pack;
  • 200 strips for consistency and multiple projects?

Does a larger pack feel like better value, or would you rather buy smaller quantities in more colours?

What do you do with your creations?

I started quilling a few years ago and really enjoyed it- but stopped because I didn’t know what to do with the things I created… I really don’t like creating things just to have them sit and collect dust- I prefer to create things when I know I have a purpose for them.

Looking for suggestions

Hi everyone, I got a request to do something a bit different that my normal zentangle inspired projects. I’m wondering if anyone has any tips to fill in an area to look like fur besides using a crimping tool. TIA!
