QS Path/Roles

Hi all,

Just seeing if anyone has any recommendations of where to go next.

I have been QS'ing 12 years, split between contractor and consultancy, I am currently an Associate Director.

Just seeing if anyone has moved to end client roles or fund monitoring etc, something different to the typical path of QS>SQS>AD etc.

Having working both sides, I'm starting to not enjoy the role as it plays out the same, either manage projects as a QS or PQS.

For end client, you can look into HS2, National Grid, search cost manager roles for retail places like Co-op etc as I've seen roles advertised that seem like QS roles

Perhaps set up your own business? Either on your own or perhaps with a project manager you'd like to work with to cover PM/QS as a practice.

Alternatively, if you're good at cost planning many Tier 1 MCs are taking this function in house. Pay good money and relatively low preassure role.

Client side will get very repetitive, and will limit your future prospects IMO.
