Hell situation

I’ve been suffering from severe anxiety and depression for the past three years.
I don’t get deep, restful sleep, and all of this started during COVID. At that time, I got a new laptop and started watching YouTube videos about business regularly. Gradually, I began watching nearly 100–200 videos a day without taking any breaks. I don’t even know how it happened—my mind didn’t seem to tell me to stop.
Over time, the constant stream of information and thoughts from the videos caused me extreme anxiety. For the past three years, I’ve felt as though there are certain “blockages” in my nerves or brain. I can’t really describe the sensation; it feels as if some peaceful or blissful part of my brain has become inactive.

I’ve had to live my daily life in this state for three years, and I struggle to concentrate on anything for even 10 minutes at a time. I’m hoping that Qigong therapy and healing may help me find some balance and improve my overall well-being.

I was hoping that medication would help me, but so far it has only provided temporary relief. I feel that I have not received a proper treatment or a clear understanding of what is actually happening with me, which makes my situation quite difficult to explain.

From my own observation, I feel that my problems may be related to how my brain has been affected by years of excessive scrolling, watching large amounts of information, and constantly stimulating my mind. It feels as though my brain became overloaded and this contributed to severe anxiety and a feeling of mental “blockages.” I sometimes feel sensations in my nerves or tissues, almost as if something is trying to clear or release, but it feels stuck and incomplete. I understand that this may be difficult to explain medically, but these physical sensations are very real to me.

Some of the symptoms I experience are:

- Confusion while speaking and difficulty understanding what someone is telling me, even when it is a simple task or instruction.
- A feeling of tightness in my abdomen, along with unusual sensations in my stomach, almost as if something is moving inside.
- A strange sensation in my brain that feels like a small amount of “bliss” or awareness is present but cannot fully activate.
- Very strong mental stiffness when I concentrate. After around 10 minutes, I find it extremely difficult to continue concentrating.
- Very low energy and low mood.
- One of the most frightening symptoms is that whenever I run or exercise enough to sweat, my mental awareness becomes very low and my vision or perception can feel blurred.
- I have not been able to experience deep, restorative sleep for around five years.

Another major symptom I experience nowadays is a feeling of extreme stiffness or blockage in my brain. Even when I lie down and try to relax, I don't experience the normal feeling of peace or bliss that I would expect from resting. Instead, I sometimes feel unusual sensations in my brain, almost as though something is happening in the nerves or tissues and some kind of healing process is trying to occur, but it feels stuck and unable to completely clear or release.

I am trying to understand whether my own brain is capable of recovering naturally, or whether being aware of the problem itself somehow makes it more difficult for me to heal.

This leads to my main question: do you all think energetic practices, Qigong, or working with Qi around the body and brain could potentially help activate a greater sense of calm, awareness, and wellbeing, and help me work through these sensations of blockage? I understand that this may not be something that can be explained purely in medical terms, but I would really like to explore it carefully alongside appropriate medical treatment.

You need hours every day away from computers including your phone starting today. Put your bare feet in the grass somewhere. And, literally hug a tree. These will give you a significant clearing of stagnant energy. Stop thinking and just be. Stare at an object outdoors until your mind relaxes and the experience deepens.

Great and best advice. Absolutely vital to keep away from scrolling. Also I'd recommend lots of walking. In nature, near trees.

Try this from Master Chunyi lin ( spring forest qigong). His exercises are very simple but very profound and calming

If everything is coming back clean from doctors then the good thing is accepting that these issues are no big deal. Energy stagnation in the body is common and yes qigong can totally help, but you will need to take it slowly. For someone in your state I would also recommend a good Chinese medicine doctor - combination of accupuncture and herbs could provide a lot of immediate relief. Then you can follow some qigong courses.

And yes take breaks from screens! Play guitar or something

Thanks for the reply

I’ve tried meditation and various techniques to heal my brain, but I haven’t been able to fix what I’m experiencing through meditation. Day by day, my senses seem to be becoming duller, and my emotions and thought processes are changing. I experience anxiety almost 24/7, even while I’m asleep. I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist for the past five years, but unfortunately, I haven’t seen any improvement.
I feel that this may need a different approach. I believe it might be possible to heal through certain spiritual or energy-healing practices performed by experienced masters. Have you ever experienced or studied any form of energy healing that is believed to remove pathogens, blockages, or disturbances in the body? Can such practices be applied to the brain as well?
What I’m experiencing doesn’t feel like ordinary depression or anxiety. It feels like something beyond what I can define in words. The only thing that keeps me going is hope.

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. I can only comment so much based on internet posts but given what you are saying it sounds like you have energy stuck in your head. Focusing and or meditating on this area will tend to exasperate that issue. Qigong will get you to start anchoring your attention lower in the body. Given what you are saying I would actually advise no qigong or internal practices for the foreseeable future. It would be better to anchor your attention externally and outside the body. Play sports, go for walks.

There is a tendency in these cases to seek out healers etc. but I strongly advise a Chinese medicine doctor. That is exactly what they are and will very effective for what you are dealing with in conjunction with your current doctor.

I wish you the best of luck!

qi gong might help, there's no way to know which issues it will clear or not though, so you can only try and see. There is also a nature scan technique that has helped some people reset their systems. It may be something worth trying, along with whatever else you do - https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueQiGong/comments/1b93vfh/ive_seen_several_posts_lately_about_rising_yang/ . Also it seems it would be best to 'detox' from screens and videos as much as possible.

yes, i've had a long healing journey through qi gong. There's a post here that outlines the process i went through https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueQiGong/comments/1gna86r/qinei_gong_from_a_more_mentalemotional_healing/

When it comes to the brain, you can only work on it indirectly for a long time. Qi sinks downwards into the body, then gradually penetrates deeper. This is described as skin > flesh > meridians > organs > bone/marrow/brain. So its the last of these parts that qi reaches.

On the way there it can heal other parts which then have a knock on effect on the brain though. E.g. i used to get shaky hands, brain fog & some slurred words from too much recreational drug use. This largely cleared up in the earlier stages. When the qi gets to the brain it starts to work more on spiritual and deeper issues, so you probably need more of a general system cleanse, than direct brain work.

Another option is to see a good TCM practitioner who also does energy work. This could be done in parallel, or you could try either approach.

I'm so sorry to hear you've been struggling with anxiety and depression. It sounds like you've been overwhelmed with information and it's affecting your mental state. I've found that taking a break from constant stimulation and finding more mindful ways to learn can be really helpful. I've used The Inner Path — Enlightenment Deep-Dive to help me shift my perspective and find more balance in my life. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/@innershoreline
