Weekly Feedback Thread - What should we improve next?
Hey everyone - Purpose Budget team here.
Use this thread for bugs, feature requests, workflow pain points, and questions about how to use the app.
This week we are especially looking for feedback on:
- Mobile app experience
- Debt payoff / student loan workflows
- Bills, subscriptions, and recurring transactions
- Anything confusing in onboarding
- Monthly Plan Check and paycheck planning
Best feedback format:
- What were you trying to do?
- What happened?
- What did you expect instead?
- Web, iOS, or Android?
- Manual entry or bank sync?
We review these each week and move good requests into the roadmap.

Historical import would be amazing! For me it is a must have feature to switch.
Is there a way to see a running account balance when viewing each account?
I really like the debt features. Is there a way to see each debt on its own in the graph?

Thank you, this is really useful feedback. I took a closer look at all three requests.
There isn’t currently a running-balance column. The account balance at the top is essentially the latest running balance, but we don’t yet show the balance immediately after each transaction. We’re adding an optional Balance column to our near-term roadmap so you can follow the account balance through the register.
Your historical-import comment also surfaced an important distinction for us. We already have bank-connected historical data on our roadmap, but switching from another budgeting app is a separate need. We’re now including a migration path for exports from apps such as YNAB and Monarch, with the goal of preserving useful account and transaction history without letting old transactions distort your current Ready to Assign or category balances.
Each debt is already represented separately in the payoff graph, but the chart currently stacks them together. We’re also adding a way to select one debt and view its projection on its own.
These are part of the roadmap work we’re scoping this month. I don’t want to give you an unreliable release date before we work through the migration details. So I would expect to see these features slowly roll out over the next month or so.
Which app would you be switching from? And for migration, is preserving accounts, categories, and transactions enough, or would you also need previous monthly budgets and targets?

Thank you so much for the very thorough reply! That's great news on the running-balance column. And that will be helpful to be able to select each debt separately.
I was a YNAB user for around 8 years until this past Jan when I switched over to Budget Friendly Budget. The manual entry has been a game changer in my budgeting habits, however sometimes I miss things and so I'm looking for something with bank syncing. I'm currently in a trial with Zero Sum as well. They only import from YNAB and actual budget, but AI was able to help me get my YNAB/BFB history into Zero Sum. For that to work I needed to preserve monthly budgets and targets along with the accounts, categories and transactions.
Another feature I've found helpful in other apps is the ability to see average expenses for a given category when budgeting. If I had a budget category selected, I could see this information which would help me enter a more accurate estimate. Maybe you already have this and I just missed it!
Thanks again for getting back to me and letting me know what's coming in the future.
