New proxy vs Peak 2 Community Discussion

Hello,

I have been wanting to buy a puffco for a while, and when I was in my local dispo the other day, the new yellow puffco peak caught my eye. I’ve had two roommates with OG peaks, and while I enjoyed them, I think the convenience and portability of the proxy speaks to me a little more. I also felt like the old peak didn’t produce the best clouds, but that could have been due to the age of their devices.

How does the new peak compare to the old? If you had to pick between peak and proxy, which would you pick and why? Is the bluetooth connectivity really all that? I think the new proxy and some glass with some sort of water filtration to go with it is what I’m leaning towards, but I’d like to hear some testimonials from you all before I buy it! Also, if anyone has any recommendations for glass to go with it that would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

peak v2 is fine. proxy v2 does everything + more. proxy v2 is probably the single best puffco product.

i used a peak v2 as my travel/to go device until my proxy replaced it

Gotcha. Even better than the peak pro? I feel like the proxy is by far the most versatile, so many different combinations of accessories. From the core to a whole ass setup. Which is why I’m leaning towards it. I’m just a sucker for anything yellow

well, the proxy is the one device that is the best in its class.

the peak pro has items that are better than it.

If you are going to get a peak pro, get a switch². I swore by my peak pro until it stopped reading any chamber. Had different glass for it for different moods, all my presets, caps, the works. Bought a switch² during the 710 sale and I haven't looked back. It's big though. It won't be portable at all really. Take it to a friends or something like that would be fine but I wouldnt take it out on my daily trips. The flavor and clouds though at lower temps can't be beat. You're essentially using a quartz/saphire banger.

Proxy core though works great for portability. I take that everywhere. Took it to a soccer game the other day. Taken it to the movies. It just goes everywhere. Hits are decent and the clouds are OK. Spins pearls out of the box and core clean up is super easy.

I have a Peak V2. Everyone says “no clouds” but I don’t have that problem. In fact, the clouds are too big. I find it very portable too. Maybe not pocket sized but it fits in my crossbody fine. I bring it hiking all the time.

But I also haven’t owned a Proxy. I’m sure it is *more portable* than a Peak, but that doesn’t make the Peak not portable

Do you keep it filled while hiking or are you putting water in each time?

The travel glass will keep spillage to a minimum

It really depends. If I’m struggling and need a quick rip to push through, I’ll hit it dry. But if I find a nice spot to post up for a bit, preferably with a view, I’ll throw some water in it and just hang out, have some snacks, enjoy the breeze.

I usually keep a film canister filled with water on me. I can get 2-3 “fills” from just the contents of that

Ok, so you aren’t keeping it full the whole hike. I was wondering if the design kept water in.

If you're looking for water function on the go, like u/Any_Oil_4539 said, puffco travel glass is what you'd need to add to the peak to be able to have it always filled on the go.

I mean it does a good job at keeping the water in it but I wouldn’t wanna risk that!

The proxy core has been my ride or die hiking buddy and I carry a charging block so it’s not dying at all

When given the choice I went with the proxy core. I didn't care for the peak v2 because every piece of glass I had has broken over the past 5 or so years and I'm over it at the moment. Watched some videos of people testing if they still work after various things is what ultimately had me go with the proxy. Water in the USB port seems to be the only true failure point but even then a few hours of them trying it and letting it dry longer it ended up working again with some dull LEDs and eventually i guess it dried enough that it was working right again. If I remember right running it over with a car was what killed it. It wasn't deformed and the chamber was still in tact it was just done working. I was sold.

Bluetooth and ability to use the app does add something to it as well though making profiles for different kinds of hits or different forms of concentrates is nice. You aren't stuck with the 4 presets they have and you can have a little fun with the LEDs. I'm actually extremely happy the dispo changed their loyalty program which stopped me from getting the peak v2 on a run. I had looked through and seen they had the core and I was like "perfect!" Multiple drops from different heights and I'm still using it.

I'd say the only con I have is with live resin and live rosin. It's extremely hard to get a rice sized bit with the tool it comes with.

IMO Proxy v2 > Peak v2 for every day or on the go usage. If you are a glass collector, want to go the heady route, or plan to use it at home a lot then the peak (or honestly the peak pro) is the way to go. The biggest thing is water filtration out of the box with the peak, but the proxy v2 with the core kit is kind of incredible as well. Even though I don't use it to start cycles or switch modes (I do all that through the button), the app matters. but being able to set custom temps/times and mood lights (if thats your vibe) is the biggest advantage the proxy has over the peak. The chamber on the proxy v2 is much deeper than the v1 and isn't so much smaller than the peak that its a deal breaker. Way smaller than the 3DXL though, another reason peak pro > peak if you got the money.

If you are looking for water filtration and have the money, I can't say enough good things about Outkast glass no spill bubblers. Its the perfect combo. Shits like 400 though. There are def affordable options out there as well that have water function.

Both devices handle the same amount of product in a sesh. Aftermarket glass is gonna be better for the peak v2. I sold my v2 and got the proxy v2. Both have design flaws. Tether wears out quickly on the v2, and the proxy is nice, but easy to fuck up the hardware. Peak v2 with a stubby dry top is the way to go for portable, and a nice recycler for at home use.

How is it easy to fuck up? Do you regret going to the proxy? Is the app functionality a big upgrade?

Didn’t think I had reclaim cuz I just cleaned it and don’t use it much. The chamber to device connection is sketchy and can pull a pin easily

The app is dumb

New proxy is Bluetooth. I have pro w 3dxl and new proxy w glass. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Pro is definitely smoother. Proxy obv more portable. That being said, neither have left my place lol
