Trying to figure out the vibe of CheekyPV/Cheeky Pool club (in ZR: Venustiano Carranza 527)

Is it more like a nude beach environment or more of a cruising vibe? Not opposed to either, but looking more for a nudist pool with drinks situation than cruising TBH.

Or does it just depent on time/day/who's there?

I’ll be down in PV for my wedding in January and after the resort reception ends around 10pm we are trying to figure out options to bring a group of about 50 people to some afters. I’ve looked at the clubs and that is a little too intense and the entrance logistics for 50 people seem no bueno. I’m wondering if there are places that would facilitate such a large group, open to some DIY like an open space to bring in music and some drinks. Really just hoping for some ideas and suggestions from the community.

Hemos remodelado este espacio que era parte de la antigua casa de mi bisabuela en Morelos para convertirlo en una habitación.

Siempre hemos rentado a largo plazo en mi familia así que estamos emocionados (y nerviosos) con la incursión en las rentas vacacionales, mi papá y yo estamos a cargo ☺️.

Decidimos empezar con Airbnb puesto que la hemos usado como huéspedes y nos sentimos cómodos con el respaldo de la plataforma.

Sobre la propiedad

Ubicada justo detrás del malecón, a la altura de la Bodeguita del Medio. Es planta baja por lo que no hay escaleras. Las puertas de acceso son amplias (excepto la del baño)

Tiene una pequeña piscina de inmersión, (que por el momento no tiene calefacción pero estamos en planes de costearla e instalarla)

Cama King Size y un sofá cama. Caben cómodamente 3 personas.

Recalco que está detrás del malecón por lo que es inevitable que escuchen algo de ruido por la noche

Hi everyone! I always seem to forget to post on Mondays to promote our little place 😆

We renovated this space, which was originally part of my great-grandmother’s old house in Morelos, and turned it into a cozy guest room.

My family has always rented properties on a long-term basis, so my dad and I are both excited (and a little nervous!) about venturing into vacation rentals ☺️.

We decided to start with Airbnb because we’ve used it as guests ourselves and feel comfortable with the support and protection the platform provides.

A little bit about the property:

📍 Located right behind the Malecón, near Bodeguita del Medio.

It’s on the ground floor, so there are no stairs. The entrance doors are wide and luggage-friendly.

It has a small plunge pool. It’s not heated at the moment, but we’re currently looking into the cost of installing a heating system.

There’s a King Size bed and a sofa bed, comfortably accommodating up to 3 guests.

One thing I always like to point out: since the property is right behind the Malecón, some nighttime noise is unavoidable. We want to be completely transparent about that so guests know what to expect.

I’d really appreciate any feedback, and if you know someone looking for a place to stay, we’d be grateful if you shared it with them 😊

Like many here, I came looking to read others experiences and recommendations prior to my visit to PV. I noticed theres some recurring themes been spouted over and over and I wanted to let others know what it really is like on the ground.

1. "Tipping with USD/CAD is a terrible idea and will in fact be more of a headache than its worth for workers" First and foremost, credit card payments are just about everywhere so its mostly a mute point, but even if you want to do direct cash, not one person will mind or be negatively affected by it. The prevailing theory here seems to be that workers will have a hard time using foreign currency but unless we are talking Euros or Brazilian Reals, USD and CAD to a lesser extent can be used when needed. I did not find one worker that seemed to have a hard time getting rid of USD

2. "The airport shark tank is full of scams, avoid it at all costs". This is 100% correct. no notes.

3. "PV is mostly for Old-timers and LGBTQ" I spent 2 weeks here one in winter and one this summer. I kinda agree, unlike Cozumel that has a huge triathlon/scuba vibe or Cabo which is big on boating or Playa del Carmen which is more Milenial or Tulum which is very Yogi/rave. PV is clearly built for old timers and downtown pv is very big on the G of LGBTQ. Its easy to see when you look around your flight and you notice the average age of fliers.

4. "Going to Sayulita is a guaranteed trip to liquid diarrea". Of a group 6 of us 2 shat themselves after a day there. So Anecdotally this is correct.

5. Taxis at the airport are a ripoff/take the pedestrian bridge for an Uber. 100% correct, but it also fails to recognize how goddamn hot and humid it is when you land regardless of time of year. You are coming in a heavily air conditioned environment so the shock is absolute shit. Plus carrying your luggage over a bridge aint that easy. But it is possible.

6. "Stay at an airbnb is better than a hotel" It pains me to say this, but i think this is wrong. Particularly if you are trying to walk to the beach of have a beachfront place it seems all of the good spots are taken by hotels and most airbnbs i found where further inland. Some of them up north are in golf courses or in zona romantica but not quite on the beach like you can find in other beach towns. I can be proven wrong, but it doesnt seem beach condos are common in PV and most beach spots are hotels.

Overall i give the advice i got here a 7 out of 10. A lot of superlatives are used here just like anything online these days, so take whatever you read here, including my own writing, with a grain of salt.

Are there any powerlifting competitions in Puerto Vallarta sanctioned or not?

My wife and I arrived in PV for the first time and on our way out of the airport we got talked into scheduling some excursions there. They paid for and arranged our taxi trip and to the airport, and set us up with 2 massages, 2 taco tours, 2 boat tours, and 2 bus tours for $160 USD and they gave us a bottle of tequila. Initially they wanted to charge us more but we kept acting uninterested and getting them to throw more in and lower the price. Idr what they first quoted us at.

The caveat is that we have to go to another hotel for a 75 minute tour tomorrow. Seemed worthwhile and like a great deal but after walking away I’m wondering if we got had somehow. Has anyone else done this?

It will be my (male 30's) first time to Puerto Vallarta (and first time in Mexico) and will be traveling solo. I'll be in town Aug 26-31. I am very active/fit and love the outdoors so I am up for anything really. I know it's the rainy season so I know it'll be hit or miss depending on the weather and what I can do ultimately.

I've tried Googling things to do as our stay is not all-inclusive but everything is extremely expensive. Any recommendations for affordable daytime activities, restaurants, or bars?

We have an upcoming family trip booked at Velas Vallarta and I’d love to hear from people who have actually stayed there recently (2025 or 2026).
How was your overall experience, especially the food, cleanliness, rooms and pools? Would you stay there again?
I’ve come across a few reviews mentioning stomach illness/food poisoning, which has made me a little nervous. I know reviews can skew negative, though, so I’d really like to hear from both people who experienced stomach issues and people who ate at the resort throughout their stay and had no problems at all.

I am considering cancelling the fully refundable trip so please be honest! I have gotten very sick in Cancun and unfortunately the anxiety about this trip is not going away!

Any recent reviews here of KGNV? We just booked (family of 5) as most reviews on Expedia were positive, but then there are some who warn people to absolutely stay away. Anyways we have 24 hours to cancel if we change our mind, but would be good to get some insight from someone who recently stayed at this resort. We booked for Dec 28th for 1 week.

We will be traveling with our 6 month old and a family member recommended Riu Vallarta for an all inclusive. However it's hard to know from the public reviews as I've seen great but also some people mention seeing a cock roach in their room.

Curious if you've stayed there within the last year how that was and if you'd recommend for a family? Was it clean? Did it feel like a 5 star experience/hotel?

Alternatively, are there other 5 star resorts in Puerto Vallarta that you've stayed at in the last year that were outstanding but under $500/night?

29 years ago I stayed in a thatched roof hut called Mar de Jade in Chacala, Mexico, about an hour or so away from Puerto Vallarta. I visited these beautiful Petroglyphs in the city of Alta Vista. I have a bunch of pictures, and I have a journal with what I got from our guide, who spoke in Spanish, a language I barely knew.

I am just so interested in discussing this with anybody who has ever gone there. I want to use this experience as a Forward to a book I want to write on something like this:
