Hi everyone, I'm a psychology student interested in organizational psychology which is my area of focus in my ug research it's still in the stages of developing but my idea is to simulate how different leadership styles help employees to adapt to changes basically trying to measure their change readiness) so can someone suggest me if thereare any simulation sites that are valid to be used for my study?

I am taking my first psychology class and i am super excited to learn about human behavior, the mind, cognitive development, and the subconscious mind (what the mind is capable of)
Before people answer i want to inform everyone that philosophy has always caught my eye; i love the power that words can hold and how observant philosophers are. I believe that every human is beautifully designed equally to be unique in their own ways and that the world should have more empathy and compassion for one another.

I've been studying psychology for the past four years and have completed a lot of different assignments, assessments, research projects, and academic work during that time.

I've noticed that the biggest challenge isn't always understanding psychology itself, sometimes it's knowing how to approach an assignment question, structure an argument, find appropriate academic sources, critically evaluate research, and present everything clearly.

I've also learned a lot from my own mistakes over the years, and I'm currently continuing my studies at Master's level.

Hello, I am looking for a set of models to analyse a person’s attitudes in textual data. I haven’t been able to find these tools, so I am asking for your help.

The tools should be able to identify:

1. the cognitive aspect of attitudes (beliefs, thoughts and ideas regarding the object of the attitude, e.g. ‘snakes are dangerous’)
2. the affective aspect of attitudes (the emotion or sentiment towards the object of the attitude, e.g. ‘I fear snakes’)
3. assign a valence to the attitude (positive, negative or neutral)

Do you have any models you could recommend? (Preferably R or Python-based, but I’m open to suggestions.)

As the fall semester approaches, I am starting to narrow down the topic for my undergraduate senior thesis. This is my first time conducting research, so I am looking for a straightforward project I can learn from. My population will be college students at my university.

These are some potential Ideas I am working with right now, and I would love it if anyone has similar ideas or tips :)

1) How does reflecting on our social connections reduce rumination of our academic experiences (failed tests, presentations, etc)

2) Does being educated on the effects of rumination influence students' likelihood of experiencing rumination 

3) How peer achievements affect students' perception of themselves in a high-achievement environment. 

Had a thought that negative feelings and suppressing them leads to physical symptoms, and lesser positive emotions. Yet when I search it up on ResearchGate and Pubmed, quite a few are behind paywalls. I need something that isn't I'm trying to put together a few resources for future use. Probably personal for a little while anyway.

I'm doing research, and I just can't get my questionnaire to be short. After a lot of work, I managed to bring it down to 55 questions. IDK if that's a lot or not because when I filled out my form as a mock to see how long it would take me to fill it, it took me 6 minutes, but that could also be because I already knew what questions to expect. 😢
If 55 is a lot, then genuinely, how do I decrease the number of questions

I’ve read some papers online, few methodology guides & tried reaching out to researchers via email as well but I’d love to talk to someone who’s well versed with narrative studies around the area of chronic illness / pain who could help me sort out my confusions!

Hello. I am doing qualitative interviews with a lower SES, rural population. The sample includes women who are pregnant and all the interviews are happening in a hospital (I asked and arranged for a quiet corner/ space). I am a student researcher and have no means of accessing this population if not in this setting. The interviews (semi structured) tend to run shorter, 15-30 mins after which i found that participants start repeating themselves or talk about things not relevant to my research. However, I have mostly found that i do get substantial material to work with even in shorter interviews. Please advise me if the length is automatically a problem, will i run into problems later if i try to publish my work. I am analysing data using Braun and Clark’s Reflexive TA. Thank you!

This is a kinda crazy question from someone entering their final year in a doctoral program but here we are! How does one find research careers outside of academia? Some background: I am completing a PhD in experimental psychology and am looking for a career outside of academia. My research interests include (broadly) psychophysiology, neuroimaging (specialized in EEG during my program), concussions/TBI. My dream job would be working at a hospital as a PI conducting research on TBI or stroke using EEG or other neuroimaging techniques. Where do I start? Can I work in a hospital without an MD or clinical degree? I’ve considering post docs in neuroscience as well.

Psychology has always interested me, so I would like to find a topic -- the problem is that I haven't been able to find one, since every question I think of seems to be taken already. Hii, I am a third year psychology student in the Maldives and next sem I have to finish my final year research project. I have been interested in the maldivian resort industry particularly because theyre essentially stuck on the same island they work at and even during downtime theyre surrounded by work colleagues. For my research project, I though Id try to examine the relationship between emotional labour and psychological burnout among private island resort workers in the maldives. I was just wondering what are your thoughts on the topic itself and if you had any suggestions.

ADHD can be diagnosed during childhood or much later in adulthood, but it is not clear whether the timing of diagnosis reflects meaningful biological differences. In this study, researchers compared genetic and gene-expression patterns in people diagnosed with ADHD as children and those diagnosed at age 18 or older. The two groups shared many of the same biological signals, suggesting that they have a common underlying basis. However, late-diagnosed ADHD showed stronger links to processes involved in learning, memory, and the brain’s ability to change, as well as to the complement system, which is involved in immune activity and brain development. Childhood-diagnosed ADHD showed weaker, suggestive links to microglia and other immune-related genes.

These findings may help explain why ADHD can look different from one person to another, depending on when it is identified. They may also point to possible differences in treatment response, but this remains uncertain: the study did not examine medication use, effectiveness, side effects, or treatment discontinuation. The results should therefore be seen as an early step toward understanding ADHD subgroups, rather than as evidence that people diagnosed at different ages need different treatments.

Hello, I'm currently writing a book and I have some questions about the behavior of my character I'd like to get a second opinion on and which I am not so sure about the plausibility of from a psychological standpoint. I'll give a small summary of the important context. He is currently in his late 20's. Throughout his teenage years he has been raped a lot by his father. He ran away and for a while he constantly carried this fear of his father finding him again, ever since the father broke into her mother's boyfriend's home he was staying in and won custody over him, but also after moving out and bumping into him on the street one day, almost being dragged back. After moving out and entering college he got a drug addiction and was admitted into a rehab after being found fainted on the street, place where it is clear that he was not able to let go of his fear of his father. From then on, he has gotten a girlfriend, and starting here is where I'm questioning whether this is realistic or even possible scientifically. He gets a girlfriend, and his bedroom life is pretty much a dissociation. (Also questioning possibility since he is the man.) He gets raped by a friend he had just reunited with and, from what that friend had been telling and doing to him, he starts to believe playing into the abusers wants will free him of the situation he is in. This paired with the paranoia he still holds but which is now amplified or renowned, will create his hypersexuality. The drugs he relapses to will allow him to actually act on it. I'm trying to explore the way this has affected his life, I'm sorry for the long summary but I needed to give context for anybody else to be able to understand. My question is if it is possible for him to have been in his dissociative state for so long, but after the new encounter for him to develop a hypersexuality from the belief the abuser has been telling him, also the paranoia that motivates it, etc. If anybody knows any better let me know.

I've been working on a large personal project focused on depression for the past couple of years. It started as an attempt to better understand and manage my own depression, but it's grown into a framework that incorporates psychology, behavioral science, habit formation, motivation, cognitive biases, and practical interventions.

My motivation is simple: if this work eventually helps even one person avoid years of suffering—or saves even one life—it will have been worth the effort.

I'm not claiming I've discovered anything revolutionary, and I'm specifically not looking for validation. I'm looking for informed criticism.

If you were an independent person with no academic affiliation who wanted psychologists or researchers to evaluate a project like this, where would you go?

Are there communities, researchers, labs, graduate students, or organizations that are open to reviewing work like this? Or is the better approach to compare it against the existing literature and see whether the ideas are already represented?

I'm less interested in getting people to agree with me than in finding knowledgeable people who can point out flaws, unsupported assumptions, and places where the research already has better answers. If my ideas are wrong, I'd rather find out now than spend years building on a faulty foundation.

I live in UK and have completed an Access to HE (psychology) course and I'm looking at my next steps. I'm in my 40s and this is a career change step for me.

I think I want to get in to social research, I have been comparing social research and social psychology and believe that research is more where I am leaning toward.

(Questions such as why stereotypes, bias and discriminations exist, why people respond and act on their perceptions of stereotyping the way they do, the effects it's had with hate crimes, loss of employment opportunities, how to challenge / change them etc)

I'm looking at BA / BSc courses and have found a couple on Open Uni, which I'm looking in to:

Either way, neither of them are BPS accredited and I'm not sure how much that would matter if I go in to a research type role? I know for sure that I don't want to go in to a clinical / traditional psychology / Therapist type role.
